So I was sick in bed the other day, Aussie soap Neighbours was on and Paul Robinson was back! Its like the 80s never ended.

I used to watch this programme; it was, perhaps, the only time & place watching a soap opera was considered acceptable, no longer the sole preserve of housewives Neighbours was the soap that transcended boundaries.

Some Neighbours stars even tried their hand at music, now we all know about Kylie, Delta, even Jason Donovan but there was one man who was such a force of nature in the music biz that the world could handle one release, in fact, his record company demanded it.

All hail Stefan Dennis (Paul Robinson) for recording what is, perhaps, the worst song & music video ever made. So bad it's the stuff of legend, people wouldn't believe such a thing existed were it not for the archives and youtube. Good on him for cashing in on his fame in a sector where he clearly had no talent whatsoever. But even Stefan Dennis can't compete with Craig McLachlan's dire stand up comedy routine.

And what exactly is the presmise for this video?

Stefan Dennis Don't It Make You Feel Good

As far as I can gather: Paul Robinson, realising that Lassiters and the hotel business isn't what it used to be, is trying to set up some kind of an adult chat line in an abandoned fashion warehouse, so he's surveying the site with his employees and ends up liking it.

Alternatively, Paul Robinson has become a pimp and those are his hos getting ready to hit the streets.

Now here's a topic I know all about!

Paul Robinson is one of the most fascinating characters in Aussie soap. Starting off as an airline steward, he was shot by his criminal wife (who ended up killing herself). This changed his personality and he became a hard nosed businessman.

A few wives and a set of triplets later, he was so in over his head that he ended up on the run in South America. He was eventually caught and spent a stint in prison.

Cue 2005 when the hotel complex he used to own (Lassiters) burnt down. Who appeared in the crowd? Paul Robinson!!

In the past few years, he's been involved in shady land deals, fallen off cliffs, had a leg amputated, been the target of a bomb on a plane over the Bass Strait, been terrorised by his psychotic son (one of the triplets), watched another triplet die, be bankrupted by his daughter (the 3rd triplet), suffer a brain tumour which was the explanation for his evil behaviour over the past couple of decades... the list goes on!

Not only did Stefan Dennis release a single, but so did one of his onscreen wives and her sister, the Blakely Twins.

There have been some Neighbours stars with short lived music careers (Stefan Dennis, the Twins, Holly Valance, Craig McLachlan, Stephanie McIntosh) but there have been some that have gone to great success - Kylie Minogue, Jason Donovan (well that's kind of questionable), Natalie Bassingthwaite and Delta Goodrem.

[Eek!] Strewth! you know A LOT about Neigbours Stitch!

"Jason Donovan (well that's kind of questionable)"

[Big Grin] Jason's back on stage these days in 'Priscilla Queen Of The Desert' , strange thing is he turned down a role in the movie, if he'd agreed he would've co-starred with none other than INXS frontman Michael Hutchence. The only Neighbours star whose music I can actually listen to for awhile is Natalie Imbruglia.

Don't know who Natalie Bassingthwaite is, must've stopped watching by then. We all loved Annalise (Kim Davis) back in the day, and Bronwin before her.

Alan Dale is still the daddy of them all, he's done more Hollywood movies than everyone in the soap put together, good on you Jim!

Oh yeah, I forgot about Natalie Imbruglia.

Natalie Bassingthwaite played Izzy Hoyland in Neighbours. She joined the Rogue Traders and had massive success, starting with "Voodoo Child", and has just released her first solo album. She also hosts Australia's So you think you can dance.

As an Australian, I consider it my patriotic duty to know a lot about Neighbours!!!

Paul Robinson (aka Stefan Dennis)-
