I am having major computer problems, and I took my computer in to get it fixed, it sat there for days, and I had to get it back so my son could study for his finals, because all his stuff is in the computer, so I don't have the problem totally fixed, but I think I fixed 1 thing myself- and I know nothing about computers...so that was shocking. I did a 500 piece puzzle in 1 day, cause I was bored. It is so cold right now, and getting colder by the second. It's snowing a ton.
I hate January's weather.

We are having computer problems here too, although thankfully my laptop is OK. It's been so hot the last few days, my partners's laptop nearly melted! We had 42 degrees C yesterday (about 106 F). We tested one of the PCs last night and it was running at 60 degrees!

I hate January weather too!!

I have about 6000 songs on my hard drive plus tons of other important stuff. I have everything backed up to an external drive. Now I am backing it all up again to flash drives just in case my computer crashes and my external drive crashes! Can never be too safe these days with viruses and computer problems.

6000 songs? Can you also back it up to my external drive, in case your flash drives crash as well?

I also had all my personal data on backups. But all the softwares, drivers,MS updates etc..it was a real pain.I`m connected over the cell phone so it took forever to download it all again. Now i cloned my complete system to an external drive.Piece of cake next time.I also have double copys of photos, music and videos, located in two different houses.Better safe than sorry [Wink]

Copying everything to DVD is a good way to back up as well. If you use a rewritable DVD you can simply update it, but at 20 to 40 cents a piece who cares. I work on computers all day long (servers mostly) so I'm used to rebuilding or repairing them. It can be a real pain for the home owner. You really need to run a couple of antivirus programs as well as a couple of antispyware programs. Even with this, you will still get bit every now and then. I have my family and people I help buy one good antivirus like Norton antivirus, and one good antispyware like PC Tools Spyware Doctor. Then, I have them run a couple of free ones like Lavasoft Ad Aware antispyware, and, AVG antivirus. Don't run them all at the same time or you will have problems and your PC will be very slow. Be sure to check that the "free" programs are not set to load at Windows startup... Run the free programs "manually" and make sure you update everything including Windows Update weekly.

Or

Run a Mac or linux machine. They have their problems too but nothing like a Windows machine. Linux is by it's design much more secure (don't run logged in as root user) hence much less virus prone. Macs run a modified version of BSD unix/linux so the same goes for them.

Sorry if I was a bit too geeky... [Smile]

Haha Stitch. That's only what I have on my computer hard drive! Tons more elsewhere.

Paul, I would be happy to upload my music to you. Might take a week or two though and I'm sure you would hate most of it anyway. [Wink]
