I am an avid Idol watcher! The only thing is, it conflicts with NCIS. I don't really get into Idol until like the top 12 so I have time. Can't wait though! There were some good contestants last season--wonder what this season's will be like?

Posted by Ronnie (Member # 465) on :

i'll be watching!

Posted by Pittsburghgirl (Member # 7514) on :

Same here petty, I will watch the first few weeks' worth of shows off and on. When they get to the top twelve, then we will sit down and watch the whole show. I just wonder why some of those awful singers audition, and why their parents tell them that they can sing good? I know some just want to get on television, but why go on just to make an azz of yourself?

It starts here tonight and I can't wait! We are only getting it a day behind the air date in the US, so big YAY!

A fact I learnt today, apparantly the new judge Kara cowrote "Spinning Around" by Kylie Minogue together with Paula Abdul.

Posted by buffalo-girl (Member # 7498) on :

it was a pretty good show last night alot of funny singers that's for sure and kara did well as the new judge she has written alot of songs for alicia keyes and celine dion also!! okay what did you guys really think of the girl in the bikini? did you think she had a good voice? or did simon and randy let her in because of her bikini? duh!!! i give her til round 2 of the finals she will be gone!! i did like the big oil driller guy sorry i forgot his name? and the blonde girl at the beginning that sang heart nice voice can't wait to watch tonight again !!

Posted by pettyfan (Member # 2260) on :

I liked the oil driller guy too and the girl who sang Barracuda.

Posted by NiceGuy Sammy Hain (Member # 3150) on :

They were both good. I also liked the blind guy at the very end. The girl in the bikini was decent but they could have easily passed on her.

The drama queen guy with the real rocker look embarrassed himself pretty hard.

Posted by Pyromantic (Member # 7658) on :

I'm going for the girl who sang Heart's Barracuda thus far...Not only because I dig punk chicks..but also because she had a better voice than anyone else I heard on there...And yeah, the bikini bimbo didn't impress me at all..she's a joke.

Posted by buffalo-girl (Member # 7498) on :

i do agree with you pyromantic she was a joke along with the drama queen guy!!! i am hoping they have more women and men rocker's on tonight instead of the same ole lame music like celine dion songs etc.

Posted by NiceGuy Sammy Hain (Member # 3150) on :

I thought it was a very uncomfortable moment with the girl who was the big Kara fan and who brought her notebook of songs she wrote when she sucked pretty bad.

Posted by Stitch Groover (Member # 2895) on :

Bikini Girl will be one of the first people out in the Hollywood round. I loved that Kara called her a bitch!

Posted by Pittsburghgirl (Member # 7514) on :

I watched off and on, but I missed the "rocker" guy's audition. I just caught the part where he was asking them to give him a chance, then afterward when he was crying. Was he really bad? The bikini chick wasn't a very good singer, I think Simon just let her through for some eye candy since his girlfriend broke up with him.

Posted by NiceGuy Sammy Hain (Member # 3150) on :

Rocker Drama Queen Guy wasn't horrible but he also wasn't good enough to advance.

Posted by ISIS (Member # 1780) on :

I felt bad for the guy who got booted off who had the 2 girls come and do the cheer for him. Randy had said yes, and then he took it back...I thought he sang pretty good.

I like the new judge-Kara. I have never heard of her before, but she's pretty cool.

I still don't like when they make fun of people, you'd think with the girl that just killed herself in front of Paula's house-that they would tone that down, because some of those people seem extremely emotionally disturbed, and they seem ready to snap at any second.

The bikini girl actually didn't sing as bad as I thought she would...she's going to take all she can get from all of it, so why not.

I liked the girl who lost her home in the tornado and has 3 kids, she was awesome.

The man who's wife just died recently- he looked like Robert Downey Jr.-I liked him alot.

I think the blind man is going to do well.

I think so far they have alot of interesting people.

It's the only thing I watch on TV.

I liked the 2 sisters that were rapping together, the one girl was really cool -she had some cool breakdance moves and an 80s look to her, her sister was so happy for her.

Posted by Stitch Groover (Member # 2895) on :

The Rocker Guy was hilarious. He was just a nerd who thought he could be a rocker by playing dressups! He didn't know how to sing rock, or act rock. I thought he looked a little like Adrian Brody but with a smaller nose actually.

Posted by Pyromantic (Member # 7658) on :

The Old Rocker Guy was kinda funny..I thought he had kind of an oldschool Roger Daltry look going for him.....unfortunately I think he was trying out on the wrong show..he might have more luck on a show like "America's Got Talent."

I'm watching night 2 right now... I loved those 2 sisters India and Asia, their rap was funny, and the one that got through was a good singer. I loved that her sister was so supportive.

The girl at the start of the show, the blonde one, I had high hopes for her because she seemed to doubt that she had talent and only auditioned because her family insisted she was good.... her family are a big bunch of cruel people, because she was terrible. I felt sorry for her.

i too liked the young lady with the 3 kids and hubby she has a good voice and didn't even realize it reminds me of fantasia actually, i also liked danny he had a good voice and the big guy with the bald head and beard and the one that his wife just passed away i think he could sing some good rock songs or alternative music too i will be tuned in tuesday for sure!!

Stitch-I thought the same thing about the blonde girl, she was really pretty, but couldn't sing at all, and that was kind of sad.

I can't believe how confident alot of the people are.

I can't believe how many people lose their minds and bawl and scream. What is messed up about the whole thing, is even the weirdo people-if they do something crazy-people are going to remember it, and this show has the biggest audience you'll ever have- even as a singer-you have all of the world watching-nobody ever gets that, even at a concert-even if your the biggest performer on the planet-so I can't imagine how scary that can be for someone who has never done anything like that ever.

Jason Castro's brother wasn't great...but I never understood how Jason made it as far as he did.

You never see these people ever again. Which is sad, since there hardly is anyone good in the music industry. Even the 2nd runner up is usually never seen again I haven't seen Taylor Hicks on anything since he won.

You see the same old people on the cover of every magazine, where are all these people? You never see them on the cover of anything.

what about the big bearded guy who was classically trained in singing who came out and sang Aretha and was horrible?

I liked the last gal who sang who was a tornado victim. I'm thinking she'll make it far in the competition.

I thought the guy with the two cheerleaders was embarrassing and cringeworthy, I'm glad they changed their mind on him.

The guy who just recently lost his wife has a chance to make it a ways in the competition too.

Posted by pettyfan (Member # 2260) on :

I only saw the first hour last night. I liked the bald guy with the dark beard...he was a welder I think. Didn't see the tornado victim. The classically trained guy was horrid.

Posted by Pittsburghgirl (Member # 7514) on :

I liked the huge lady with the trailer park style teeth.

Posted by ISIS (Member # 1780) on :

I was missing parts of it tonight, cause I was talking on the phone through part of it.

The guy at the end who had the sick mother...what was the illness that the mother had? That was kind of an odd relationship.

I missed the guy singing Bohemian Rhapsody-that they said was one of the best they have heard. Was he that good?

What was with that girl who brought her CD and she kept giggling...what was with the hand guestures? She was a weird one.

Can't wait 'til tonight, it's so cool that we get it only 24 hours after you guys

That first lady was so annoying. Can't believe she got her golden ticket.

Posted by buffalo-girl (Member # 7498) on :

i can't believe they let that girl from puerto rico in with her book? she was pretty but very annoying especially her laugh!!!! the young guy who sang bohemian rhapsody was good his name is adam, the guy at the end with the sick mom was very good too what i heard is that his mom has seizures ? don't know the name of her illness though i only thought these two were very good out of all the ones i saw last night, there was some real strange ones on last night for sure, i am thinking that adam may be another david cook have to wait and see he is also playing in the show wicked now for a year and a half so he has experiance!! dee [Wink] [Cool] [Smile]

Oh she was SOOOO horrible!! That laugh! Ugh!

The guy at the end--his mom has seizures. I thought he was pretty good.

I liked the Bohemian Rhapsody guy. I thought he was good. Overall, I wasn't too impressed with San Fran's talent.

i don't understand the judges sometimes.

they will pass someone who obviously won't make it to the top 12..why waste their time and hopes???

but then there are people who have decent voices and the judges don't like something about them...the way they're dressed or the way they beg to be let through...and they shoot them down, badly.

to be honset, i didn't like anyone from san fransisco. some were ok..like the guy who sang bohemian rhapsody and the guy at the very end with the ill mother... but none of them were too great at all.

tonight, they are in kentucky. hopefully it's better than last night's episode.

I too think they set them up for disappointment. It's a shame... I think Nick should try out for American Idol... Nick? [Big Grin]

Posted by ISIS (Member # 1780) on :

I didn't really think anyone was great tonight.

Every one always has a tragic story, every time we know a sad story is coming...my mom and I always quote "Raising Arizona"...when the guy in prison says:

"When there was no fowl, we ate crawdads."

"When there was no crawdads to be found , we ate sand."

"Ya ate what?"

"We ate sand"

"You ate Sand?

"That's right"

I thought the talent in Louisville was much better than San Fransisco.

I really liked the last girl. Of the four auditions they've had so far I see her as having the best chance of making it far in the competition.

Posted by pettyfan (Member # 2260) on :

Louisville's talent was so much better. What got me was when the guy who sang the George Jones song told them to "be careful" and Paula freaked. I'm from the south and we tell each other that all the time. I didn't think it was all threatening or whatever.

The last girl was really good. I also liked the guy whos sang the Bad Company song.

Posted by ISIS (Member # 1780) on :

I thought the "becareful" guy was several bricks shy of a full load. There was something majorly wrong with him. That's what I don't understand either, is how they ever let him through, except to make fun of him.

I say Becareful to people if the weather is bad, or if they are going on a long trip...not just when they are sitting in a chair, so that's why it sounded a little weird...but coming from him...it probably was about the most normal thing he did say.

Posted by Ronnie (Member # 465) on :

the last girl that sang was awesome!

the situation with the guy that said "be careful" i thought that paula and simon over reacted a tad. people say be careful to me all the time, ..rain or shine. but then again, paula has had issues with stalkers and such, so i can see her concern. but watching it on tv, it didn't look or sound like a threat at all.

Posted by Sammy Reign In Blood Hain (Member # 3150) on :

I feel Paula and Simon both over reacted to the 'Be Careful' comment. Didn't seem threatening to me but the guy was kind of creepy looking which I feel probably was more of the cause of Simon and Paula's reaction.

The guy who drank from Paula's straw was pretty horrible and the first girl who sang has the problem of a family that keeps telling her she can sing; sorry mom and dad it's time you tell your daughter the truth.

Posted by jdocster (Member # 5752) on :

I think the new judge (can't remember her name) was pretty cold to one girl. Remember she asked her if she was joking... I felt really bad for that girl. They really don't have to trample on them so much...

Posted by ISIS (Member # 1780) on :

Oh my gosh- that guy that drank from Paula's drink, that was too weird for words.

And, I agree about the blonde girl at the beginning, I couldn't believe her mother started doing some kind of groove thing with swaying her head back and forth-when the girl started singing again...it was horrible.

The girl that Kara said that too, about being voted most humorous in school- that girl was doing all kinds of weird moves and sang awful, and it really did seem very awkward....sometimes you know that people are coming in there just to be seen on TV, and to say they were on American Idol...that's what alot of them are doing, it's the people that really think they can sing, and they can't, and they don't seem to understand it...that's the ones that you feel sorry for.

Posted by buffalo-girl (Member # 7498) on :

there were definitely some strange ones last night lol i did like the last girl that sing she has a great voice and i like the guy that sang bad company also i think his name was brad? and matt also i believe the girl at the end that sang so well was latisha or tanicia something like that? i still can't believe that guy drank from paula's straw how rude!! can't wait to see what happens next tuesday now lol!! dee

Posted by ISIS (Member # 1780) on :

The last girl, sang her own song...she said it was called "Natty"...I kind of liked it too, I couldn't understand any of the words she was singing, but it had a cute beat to it, and was different.

Posted by buffalo-girl (Member # 7498) on :

i couldn't understand her words either isis but it did have a good beat to it! i still don't know how the judges understood her song? but it sounded good lol!

In fairness to Kara, it did seem like a joke audition, and those judges would have to sit through a hell of a lot of joke auditions. You could see that Kara felt terrible when she realised she'd hurt the girl's feelings.

Posted by jdocster (Member # 5752) on :

I hear you, but, I don't think so. I think Kara was trying to be a smart @ss and it backfired on her. Then, she apologized. That's how it looked to me. Maybe I was wrong. [Smile]

Here's an article about Louisville golden ticket winner Joanna Pacitti

http://new.music.yahoo.com/blogs/realityrocks/123306/is-joanna-pacitti-the-next-carly-smithson/

She definitely does not deserve to be on American Idol. The show should be embarrassed for letting her on.

Posted by jdocster (Member # 5752) on :

I don't know Sammy... I think she has a good voice... No?

Posted by Sammy Reign In Blood Hain (Member # 3150) on :

she already had her chance. She isn't an undiscovered talent which is what I thoight the show was about.

Posted by pettyfan (Member # 2260) on :

She has a good voice, yeah, but I agree with Sam. I thought Idol was all about "undiscovered" or "nearly undiscovered" artists. I wanna see someone who's never had a record deal or anything.

Posted by jdocster (Member # 5752) on :

I see your point... Hmmm...

Posted by Stitch Groover (Member # 2895) on :

It's a tough one. One hand she has been signed to a label in the past, meaning she's not undiscovered. But on the other hand, she was completely unsuccessful, therefore no one has ever heard of her before.

Our current Idol, Wes Carr, was previously the singer in a side band formed by a member of Silverchair. They'd been signed to a label too, but broke up before they released anything.

The good thing about Idol is that it's up to the public. If the people who vote for Idol don't won't Joanna Paciti to have a second chance, she'll be voted out.

So far tonight Jacksonville is turning out to be even worse than San Francisco.

Posted by pettyfan (Member # 2260) on :

When did I stop liking Silverchair? Sometime after their Frogstomp album.

Sammy I could't agree more. These Jacksonville auditions just seem so weird. The judges seem weirder than usual, too.

Why do people tell others they are talented when they really aren't? Especially parents...

Posted by ISIS (Member # 1780) on :

They all pretty much stunk. The one guy that was the physics major- reminded me of the Uni-Bomber. That was so weird.

My husband is from Jacksonville, FLA -I have been there many times...it is a huge city...I think over 400,000 people live there...how come they couldn't find anyone better?

Why did it look like they were making them go out the back door in to the woods?

Posted by Sammy Reign In Blood Hain (Member # 3150) on :

The second day of auditione were a little better than the first. The first and last girls on day two were both pretty good along with the guy who sang John Lennon.

Posted by buffalo-girl (Member # 7498) on :

i agree with you sammy those 3 were the best of the night the rest were pretty scary especially the 18 year old with the beard you called the uni-bomber he looked alot older then 18 and was very strange?? actually i enjoyed fringe better last night after idol it was very interesting and wierd as always!! [Smile] [Cool] [Wink]

Posted by pettyfan (Member # 2260) on :

If this is all Idol has to offer this year I don't know how much of it I'll watch. I'm hoping that those auditions that they don't actually show--the ones where the people come out waving their tickets--were better than the ones they did show. I liked the John Lennon guy too and the girl who went and put on her makeup and came back.

Posted by Mr. Jack Burton (Member # 4673) on :

The girl last week with the kids, she was from Kentucky I think. She was amazing.. Dang what was her name??

Posted by Ronnie (Member # 465) on :

jacksonville episode sucked.

only a couple of people sang good,..that we saw get a ticket anyway.

isn't tonight the last of the auditions?

Posted by Sammy Reign In Blood Hain (Member # 3150) on :

I think it's on again tomorrow night as well right before the season premiere of Hell's Kitchen.

But that would only make seven auditions and I thought there was supposed to be eight.

Posted by pettyfan (Member # 2260) on :

Well I have to say I was much more impressed with tonight's contestants. So tomorrow night is the last night of auditions and next Tuesday begins Hollywood time!

Posted by ISIS (Member # 1780) on :

I felt really bad for the girl who lost both of her parents, that was really sad.

I want to see what happens when the whole window falls in on everyone....that looks scary.

I just wonder why they decided they needed 4 judges , when they have been going along all this time with 3. Now it makes it even numbered, so if there are 2 that say yes and 2 that say no-how do they decide if the person gets through or not? Or do they still only need 2 votes to get through?

Posted by Sammy Reign In Blood Hain (Member # 3150) on :

The reason for the four judges is because there's rumours that Paula will be leaving the show. From what I understand that if there's a tie Simon is the tie-breaking vote.

I thought the auditions in SLC were pretty decent as a whole. Some good potential there.

Posted by buffalo-girl (Member # 7498) on :

i liked rose last night and the young blonde kid at the end sorry forgot his name should be interesting tonight love chef gordon too so i will watch hell's kitchen also. okay so what did you all think of the girl with the red hear and the black outfit at the beginning of the show? she was a doozy and that voice ? wow brutal!!

Posted by Ronnie (Member # 465) on :

i just read that the louisville incident with the "be careful" guy, offended a lot of people. the phrase is normal for those who are from that area. american idol has issued an apology.

i figured it was just a misunderstanding and over reaction. but then, how would they know any better...

Posted by ISIS (Member # 1780) on :

Buffalo-Girl-Do you mean the girl who said...she is not depressed....she likes dressing the way she did- not to make a statement or anything- and she had one the clip on nylons- those are gross-
funny how she's not mad at the world...but she gives everyone the middle finger.

The one guy that I thought needed an attitude adjustment was the guy who darn near had a nervous breakdown when they told him he couldn't use his guitar.

Actually I did not think he sang bad...I wasn't sure why they picked on him so much....because he sang better than other people they put through....but when he came out of the room, his mom tried to hug him, and he said "don't touch me", and pushed her away. Ryan said "don't do that, that's your mom."

I thought what a brat....he was bawling and bawling all over the place, before they ever said no...and I can't take the people that don't know the meaning of the word no, and then they beg and plead and make themselves look desperate. I think you should leave with your dignity.

I didn't like the girl who they compared to Amy Winehouse- she was way too overly confident...and they always say things like...if I can't do this...then I have nothing...my life is over...

look at how many people are actors that had a hit show at one time, and it's over, and now they have to figure out a way to support themselves....I love to know when people go to college and get a real job like the kid from Weird Sciene, rather than them degrading themselves for money.

Posted by pettyfan (Member # 2260) on :

The guitar guy Isis mentioned was just so immature, I thought. He was an okay singer. I think he brought their criticism on himself when he kept begging and begging.

What'd ya'll think of the Osmond guy? I thought he was a decent singer. Does anyone think he got in just because of who his family is?

Posted by Ronnie (Member # 465) on :

i didn't like the amy winehouse chick at all either. but then, i don't really like amy winehouse.

did the osmond guy come on within the first 15 mins of the show? because i missed the beginning, thanks to the chinese take-out place i ordered from. they caused me to miss some of the show!

its on again tonight, and then HOLLYWOOD.

Posted by ISIS (Member # 1780) on :

I missed the Osmond guy too-there were people at my house, and I couldn't see the beginning either...how was he related?

I don't like Amy Winehouse either- she's a mess.

Posted by Sammy Reign In Blood Hain (Member # 3150) on :

He's the son of Alan the oldest Osmond son. He was in a wheelchair a few years ago because he like his father suffer from MS. I felt he was a decent singer who is probably good enough to move on to the Hollywood round no matter what his last name is but he won't advance to much further.

My favourite was the 16 year old girl who was really tall and possibly a Pacific Islander?

Tha Amy Winehouse girl has some talent too.

Posted by Ronnie (Member # 465) on :

what did everyone think of the last girl.. the one with no shoes? simon liked her appearance.

some of the girls from last night, had different voices. i wonder what will happen if they make it in the top 12 and are asked to do rhianna songs? sometimes people are one trick ponies ya know?

Posted by Sammy Reign In Blood Hain (Member # 3150) on :

I liked the last girl too. I thought she was a pretty good singer. There's something about a girl who is bare footed that really has an effect on me. But on the contrary I also like a girl in nylons and high heels.

I think in the auditions the best course of action is to sing a song that's not too obscure that isn't overly difficult but not too easy either. Try not to add too much of a personal touch to it either just sing the song the way it was originally sang so you can show off your potential.

Posted by ISIS (Member # 1780) on :

I never know where half of the song choices come from...I don't know if they are new songs or what, but they pick some of the strangest stuff.

Posted by Ronnie (Member # 465) on :

you know what bugged me about last season? no offense to beatles fans..but why would they make them do beatles songs 2 weeks in a row. most of the contestants had a hard time with those.. except david archuletta.

Posted by pettyfan (Member # 2260) on :

Ronnie, a bunch of people on the Idol message board complained about the two weeks of Beatles last season. I thought it was too much as well.

I thought that girl was barefoot but my mother insisted she had sandals on, LOL. I thought she was pretty good.

Have ya'll noticed that they are ending each night's auditions with some type of trial or tragedy story? Like the blind guy, the guy who took care of his mom, the blonde girl last night...

Posted by ISIS (Member # 1780) on :

They never say what happened when the windows collapsed, they didn't even act like that was any major thing.

That girl ..I think her name is Alexis-the one that gave Simon the middle finger- she came on again- with a new makeover-which she didn't look as weird...she said at the end she had over 2,000 "fans" writing in support of her. That is EXACTLY the kind of sick world we live in.
Why would anyone ever encourage someone to behave like that?

Posted by buffalo-girl (Member # 7498) on :

alexis is a flake simon recognized her from last season as soon as she walked in!!! i thought the last girl was good too and from the night before david osmond which we all knew he would get the ticket being a osmond but he does have a good voice too

Posted by Sammy Reign In Blood Hain (Member # 3150) on :

I thought that was pretty cool of Simon to call that one girls boss to help her get her job back.

Wtf was up with that guywho came in as a big ipod?

Can't believe they gave a golden ticket to that 'comedian' guy in NYC

I thought they were a little too harsh on the girl who came in with her brother; granted she got her ticket but I felt she was better than they gave her credit for. Her little brother rocked.

I knew that once that one girl mentioned that she's won over 700 singing contests that she would suck.

ehh..I've already stopped watching the show.

I thought the girl with the little brother was good, too. I mean, if they can give a golden ticket to that awful comedian then they may as well give them to everyone, ya know? I thought the last girl was good, too. She's not gonna sound like Whitney because she's not Whitney. And it was nice of Simon to call the girl's boss. I personally like Simon...most of the time, LOL.

Posted by Sammy Reign In Blood Hain (Member # 3150) on :

I actually think that Simon is a good person. He's just brutaly honest.

Posted by buffalo-girl (Member # 7498) on :

i love simon and i agree i just think he is very honest and i love to watch the faces he makes when people are singing very funny i did notice that he does not laugh at people as much as randy and paula and i like that even though alot of them are laughable they should hold back on that!! i feel bad for them when they do that!! i also think simon is very nice looking too!!

Posted by ISIS (Member # 1780) on :

I thought the IPOD dude was a maniac.

I can't believe they gave the comedian guy a ticket either.

I thought the girl with her little brother- was way better than alot of people- expecially for 16 years old.

I like Simon too....but he can be super mean at times.....I think he's trying to make people snap back to reality...but he could do it in a nicer way.

Maybe he thinks if he's too nice, they won't listen.

I don't like when they laugh and giggle at people either.

I am not sure if I like Kara- at first I thought she was Ok, now I think she tries to deliberately attack Simon just to show she has a mouth on her....but then she talked about Simon kissing her...and she looked like she'd be all for that.

I liked the big Pink Easter Bunny who grabbed Simon and shook him.

Posted by buffalo-girl (Member # 7498) on :

i noticed that about kara also isis!! i also think paula is alot more quiet now that kara is there? do you think maybe she is threatened by kara? i hope not paula is strange at times but i still like her better on the show dee

Posted by ISIS (Member # 1780) on :

Wow...that one girl who begged and pleaded with the judges, that was not right...if they over turned their decision on her-then everyone who ever was on that show should have a chance to come back, so I am glad they gave her the boot.

Posted by pettyfan (Member # 2260) on :

Yep, that's right. I'm just not sure about Nick/whatever he calls himself--the comedian guy. They put him through, but I just don't see it. And the guy who screamed through his audition--didn't see that one, either.

Posted by Sammy Reign In Blood Hain (Member # 3150) on :

Seems like they were pretty generous overall. They said that the Hollywood round started off with 147 contestants and after the two days there was still 104 remaining.

Posted by Ronnie (Member # 465) on :

i thought they did good by giving those few people second chances, because it was obvious they could sing..they just made a bad choice in overdoing it i think.

i don't know about that comedian guy though. his wonky personality won't get him very far... and his voice is just ok.

Posted by buffalo-girl (Member # 7498) on :

i agree isis that girl that asked for a second chance was pitiful and then when she said it was her husband's birthday that topped it off the judges said oh come on right away!! if she watches herself she will see how sad she really was i am sure!! as far as the comedian guy i don't see it either? i like about 10 of them mostly guys except for rose and , jackie and emily i think they have great voices tonight looks like it will be a good show too!! okay so who thought bikini girl was good? i thought she was okay but i don't think she will make it all the way ! [Cool] [Wink] [Smile]

Posted by ISIS (Member # 1780) on :

I think the girl said it was her cousin's birthday- because I thought that was even more lame.

My favorite person ...so far...is the guy who looks like Robert Downey Jr. (The one who's wife died).

The Bikini Girl wasn't as obnoxious last night as she was before. I think that Kara and Paula are trying to not pick on her as much, because they don't want to come across as being jealous.
That would not be the way to judge a person.

There were alot of people that got the boot, that I never saw on the show.

You just see them leaving.

The one guy that said "you all suck as judges", then he told Simon he had cheap taste in clothes...that was a sore LOSER...I have no clue why anybody would do that....even if you had a slight amount of talent to make it that far, anyone else who sees you act like that...they won't want you around them.

It was weird that the Comedian guy - Nick- the one who changed his name....how he looked so much younger when he took his glasses off. I would have guessed his age to be in his 40's. I can't believe he has to be in his 20's to be on the show.

I like Lil Rounds I believe that's her name she's the gal who lost her house to the tornado. I also like the girl with the Janis Joplin type voice. I also like the guy whose wife died.

I think the producers are purposely keeping some of the better ones under wraps for the time being.

Posted by pettyfan (Member # 2260) on :

Yeah, Lil Rounds was good. I also liked the guy whose wife died. The one guy with all the tats, who said that he'd had a hard life and music made it better or whatever, I didn't really like his voice.

I think Bikini Girl could sound a lot better...I think that if she makes it further that some guys (not all guys!) will vote for her just because she's Bikini Girl. It'd be the same way if there was a half-naked hot guy on there--a lot of girls would vote just because of that. I go for the voice and talent--I could care less what they look like or what they wear.

I think they're purposely keeping some of the better ones under wraps, too. Like the blind guy--isn't he supposed to be really good? I missed his first audition, and I know he made it through last night but they didn't show him.

Ah, the drama of Hollywood week! So what did ya'll think? Did the Castro kid make it through?

Posted by Sammy Reign In Blood Hain (Member # 3150) on :

I like

? Lambert
The oil drilling guy
The guy who's wife died
Jasmine
Lil Rounds (didn't see her tonight)

Glad to see bikini girl leave.

Tatiana & Matthew(maybe Nathan) both need to keep the mouths shut

I don't know all their names....but tonight when the one girl (that giggles about everything)...she tried to change groups, and they took her in to another group, and then she left them...and went back to her original group..I thought what a jerk she was. She didn't care about anyone but herself. Nobody that has that kind of attitude deserves to have fame and money.

I couldn't believe Katrina Bikini, she couldn't get up out of bed...what a bum.

There have been many times in my life I have gone 48 hours...and plus- without any sleep...sometimes you do what you have to do. They are young and healthy, and can live on a few hours sleep.

The group that had only 3 in it, that were at the very end....I thought the black girl with the red hair- would get through- I wanted to see that whole thing again, because I didn't think she was singing off key on purpose -for the other girl- I thought the blonde girl was off key all on her own...maybe I heard the wrong person. But they sabotaged each other. The blonde girl was terrible. I can't believe she made it.

I liked the group that were all guys and the one girl rapper.

I can't believe they forget the words, and some of them sound worse than when they auditioned by themselves.

Some of them just start humming words....

How do they get the songs ...I thought they were given a song, and that's why they goofed the words, because when they audition they sing songs they have memorized....but I thought they don't have a choice in the group singing....but several groups were singing Mercy....so how come there was a duplicate song?

I can't believe they don't know the words to "Don't Stop Thinkin about Tomorrow" -by Fleetwood Mac.

i saw the castro brother in the preview for next week's show so he must have made it thru? i am glad bikini girl left she was very selfish and was so into herself it was pathetic and i am sorry but her voice was not that good! i think she was just there to be on t.v. that was it!! i felt bad for emily and rose i liked them and now they are gone too?? but danny did well and so did jeremy and jackie all in all it was a good show last night very entertaining lol!!!

Posted by pettyfan (Member # 2260) on :

I liked Rose too--I feel that she was a victim of group week.

Posted by Ronnie (Member # 465) on :

i'm borderline on the robert downey jr. look-a-like.

there was a guy in one of the groups with brown boots on, black punkish hair and was tall.. my goodness he had the best voice out of anyone last night. i don't even think they said his name?

the first group that got up and sang with the female rapper, that was awesome.

a couple other groups did good too, but the group with the boy who was crying, the ones that were arguing all night... i didn't like anyone of them.

i think the group with rose and bikini girl would have been better without the bikini girl.
i cannot believe they all just looked at each other when simon asked them to name names of who was screwing things up...

Posted by pettyfan (Member # 2260) on :

Don't think I wouldn't have been pointing fingers at the screw-up, LOL. I agree, Ronnie--bikini girl did screw up her group. I think they would've been just fine without her. And that crying boy--Nathan, was it? Good grief he got on my nerves!!

Posted by buffalo-girl (Member # 7498) on :

oh yes nathan is a doozy he has been crying since the first time he was on the show?? and riptide the guy with the brown boots his name is adam and i like him also he has a great voice and i think he will do well singing alternative rock myself!! i did feel bad for rose and i agree with you all if bikini girl was not there they would have done so much better that was just not right?? dee

so far what I've seen tonight is that the talent pool for the guys is a lot better than the talent pool for the women. I still like Jasmina and Lil for the women I've liked both of them since their first auditions.

Posted by pettyfan (Member # 2260) on :

Well I'm upset that the Castro kid didn't go through. I swear if that whiny azz Tatiana makes it past tomorrow night I may just quit watching! She is so damn whiny and personally I don't think she can sing. And Nick/Norman...WTF do the judges see in him???

Posted by Sammy Reign In Blood Hain (Member # 3150) on :

I like Nick/Norman. The one I can't stand is Nathan along with the forementioned Tatiana.

Can't remember his name but the blind guy is truly in his element when he's behind the piano. I previously really liked him during his initial audition but seeing him tonight makes me think he's a strong candidate to go a long way in the competition.

Posted by ISIS (Member # 1780) on :

Tatiana is a maniac. I was hoping that she got the boot tonight.

I like Danny (the guy that looks like Robert Downey Jr.)- he's my favorite.

I am not crazy about any of these people's personalities.

Posted by Sammy Reign In Blood Hain (Member # 3150) on :

I think a lot of them seem like good honest people that I want to succeed.

Posted by ISIS (Member # 1780) on :

I am not saying they aren't good people...they just are kind of Blah...there's nobody really interesting in an IDOL sort of way. They haven't got to do too much yet, so I am hoping that part changes. I like seeing their background stories, from where they came from, and who their families are.

Posted by buffalo-girl (Member # 7498) on :

i agree tatiana should have gone home last night she is very annoying and so is nathan he is a drama queen!! i also agree with you there are more guys that are better this year glad adam, danny, and jasmine made it not sure if jackie made it but i still like her too? i forgot the blind guy's name too but he is great also!! not sure if i will watch the 2 hour show tonight but will definitely watch the end to see who else goes home!! [Smile] [Cool] [Wink]

I like Blindy, I like Danny now but I'll get annyoyed by him quickly I think.

I don't like Tatiana but I'm fascinated by her personality. She's emotionally on the edge, and I can't wait to see which way she falls off.

I love Nick/Norman, he's a nice guy and lots of fun, but whether a character can make it through, I'm not sure. It almost happened here in our first season of Australian Idol, when gender illusionist Courtney Act narrowly missed out on a spot in the Top 10.

Nathan annoys me, he's such a drama queen. I really like Jasmine, and Lil. I forget the girls name right now, she's the one who sang her own song in the auditions - I was disappointed that she got knocked out.

Posted by pettyfan (Member # 2260) on :

What is the blind guy's name?? Anyhoo, I agree with Sammy--he's truly in his element behind that piano. Except for Tatiana and Nathan (who may calm down who knows) I don't see anything wrong with them "personality wise." As for Nick/Norman I just want to see him perform as NICK. Then I might just like him. Buffalogirl, Jackie made it through.

i'm not sure who i like at this point. i think i won't know until the top 12 are announced. i was surprised that the girl who sang her own song at the end of auditions, went home. there were a few people they kept that i thought didn't deserve to go through...especially tatiana - YUK!

The "blind" gentleman's name is Scott Macintyre...

I like:

Danny Gokey - reminds my of Robert Downey junior - good soul/R&B voice
Jamar Rogers - good soul/R&B voice
Stephen Fowler - good soul/R&B voice

Here's a good resource:

Not so sure that the blind gentleman would appreciate being called "Blindy". It's the same as calling someone in a wheelchair "Crip".
Tatiana is a total psycho. She needs to go. I can't believe they kept her. The producers probably held onto her for ratings. And that Nick/Norman guy needs a shrink too. Does he really have multiple personalities, or what is going on with him?

Posted by pettyfan (Member # 2260) on :

Pitt, I think they both just want attention. I don't think Tatiana will make it past tonight.

Posted by Sammy Reign In Blood Hain (Member # 3150) on :

I hope she doesn't. If Nick/Norman would ever sing just as Nick I think he could go further. Unfortunately right now I think nobody will be able to take him serious no matter what he does. He seems to be a favourite of the fellow contestants though, they sure seem to be getting into it when he's performing.

Posted by Stitch Groover (Member # 2895) on :

Hey Pittsburgh Girl, long time no write!

I know it's not nice to call him Blindy but it's just a way of remembering who he is. There are a lot of them this year whose names I can't remember.

Jamar goes home and Tatiana continues???????

I'd say the only true shocker was Jamar.

Posted by ISIS (Member # 1780) on :

I can't believe they sent Jamar home either.

My husband had been watching it, and then he said he couldn't watch any more, he thought they treated the people like dogs, and that it was mean the way that they psyche them out, letting them hang there.

I can't believe they kept Tatiana either....my mom said...when they do stuff like that, it's not about singing...if they are keeping her around to see what kind of a fool she makes out of herself.

There were alot of them that I couldn't believe they kept...the one guy who forgot his lyrics, and he got up and left the keyboard- they gave him another chance...they gave that one girl who already had a recording contract- and she goofed the words up twice- that made no sense at all...they kept Nick/Norman- I can't believe he is under 28 years old- he seems way older than that.

I was glad Frankie left-I didn't like her at all.

I knew at the end that both of those guys would go through...I like the guy who works on the oil rig-I think his name is Michael- I liked that he told them thank you...on either way it goes..that was nice.

I think they booted Jamar- because don't they do a wild card-where they can vote to bring back a certain person? Maybe that's what they think will happen. It's getting pretty predictable.

What did you guys think about the 2 blonde girls? Simon wanted the prettier one...but the other one sang better....do you guys think it is fair to pick someone based on what they look like over how they sound?

I have no clue how they are choosing people this time, because there are some that are complete maniacs and can't sing well at all, and they are letting them through.

Posted by pettyfan (Member # 2260) on :

Well by far this is the dumbest thing Idol's ever done! C'mon, people--Tatiana?? WTF were they thinking? I was nervous at the end, because I like both Matt and cute oil driller guy (what's his name?). I can't believe Jamar went, either.

As for the two blonde girls, Jenn and Kristen, I liked Jenn much better. Kristen has an attitude, and I think Jenn was really the better singer. I remember all of Kristen's drama during group.

I cannot take much more of Nathan's whining either! Grow up!!!

Posted by buffalo-girl (Member # 7498) on :

i liked jenn better then kristin myself i thought jenn had a better voice as far as jamal he should have stayed also that was dumb he has a good voice too!! tatiana should have been gone along with the comedian nick they are both annoying and i think they just kept them because of the way they act? i wanted to choke tatiana last night with her screaming she is pitiful!!! i am glad scott the blind guy stayed and most of the others i like, matt, michael, brett, jasmine, alexis, and scott should be interesting to see next week's show? oh and yes nathan is a drama queen but he does have a good voice he needs to stop whining and crying so much though you are right!!

Posted by Ronnie (Member # 465) on :

ok now i believe they are keeping tatiana just to get people to tune in every week, because she obviously sucks...

poor jamal.. i like him better than his friend. that sucked. [Frown]
they kept the blind guy too???? sorry, don't agree with that either. he's just ok to me.

out of the 2 blonde girls, i see what simon was saying about having "the look" the girl that went home, definitely had a presence, where the other gal may have had a better voice, i think the judges were right about her identity issue.
they want people who have a presence about themselves..
i just try to imagine some of these people on stage, before the audience, performing actual songs. they might have good voices, but can they perform as well?

Posted by ISIS (Member # 1780) on :

I don't think the blind man's voice is that great either. I think it is amazing that he taught himself to play the piano/keyboard, and he seems really nice-but I didn't think his voice was great- he sounded a little better with music.

When it gets down to America voting, they do make it about everything else, other than singing, so I bet Tatiana is around alot longer than she ever should be.

Posted by Sammy Reign In Blood Hain (Member # 3150) on :

I thought it was interesting last night when Jamar got back to the waiting room and said he didn't make it and all the stunned looks around the room. Then when tatiana came back and said she made it nobody seemed to care even though everybody else all night who made it got applause, cheers and high fives.

Posted by pettyfan (Member # 2260) on :

Sam, my mom and I noticed that too! I don't think the other contestants much like her. And Ronnie's right--what are some of them gonna do next week when they have to get on stage and actually perform? Scream and cry?? I'm just waiting for someone to b!tch slap Tatiana or tell her to shut up!!! I have a feeling that she'll be another Sanjaya (sp??). She'll last way longer than she should cause she'll get a following of weirdos (I'm sorry but she is) like her.

Posted by Ronnie (Member # 465) on :

oh, is his name jamal or jamar??

Just read this interesting development concerning Idol contestant Joanna Paccitti who was voted as one of the Final 36 on last night's show and her now getting subsequently booted from the competition.

http://tv.yahoo.com/show/34934/news/urn:newsml:tv.tvguide.com:20090212:1002799__ER:1

I think this was a good decision as she already had her chance at stardom and failed miserably. Plus she was one of those who constantly flubbed her lines in Hollyweird. The only bad thing is that they're bringing Felicia back instead of Jamar.

Posted by jdocster (Member # 5752) on :

The show is definitely "fixed" this time around. The fact that they let Jamar go proves it. EVERYONE in the room was STUNNED when he got cut. What does that tell you? I still think that his friend Danny Gokey (the one that reminds my of Robert Downey junior) is better than Jamar vocally, but, they shouldn't have come close to cutting him. That Tatiana chick is a whack job.

It's obvious they are doing it for the ratings. They had better watch it though because they are p1ssing people off...

[Smile]

Is anybody else not able to watch the show right now? The screen on my TV on Fox went blank right when they were talking to Anoop Desai. The rest of the channels are working so I know it's not my TV or my cable. So I figured it was either nationwide or maybe just with my FOX affiliate.

Posted by Sammy Reign In Blood Hain (Member # 3150) on :

Must have been a problem with my FOX affiliate because now the show is back on and Stephen Fowler is singing. So we here missed whatever happened between Anoop and Stephen.

Posted by ISIS (Member # 1780) on :

I watched the whole thing without any problems. They all stunk, except for Alexis and Danny. The rest of them were terrible. Tatiana wasn't that bad, but she is so self centered. I agreed 100% on every single thing Simon said about everyone.

Posted by Ronnie (Member # 465) on :

i still have 20 mins of the show left here...and it's horrible.
with the exception of a couple of people, the rest seemed as if they forgot how to sing.

*shrug*

Posted by Sammy Reign In Blood Hain (Member # 3150) on :

I saw Danny and Alexis and thought they were both really good. I was disappointed in Anoop as he was one of my favourites going into tonight. Jackie also disappointed me. I missed Casey, Michael and some other chick while my screen was blank. I thought Stevie was OK but her song was a poor choice..

I'm pretty sure that Danny will win the mens vote and Alexis the womens vote and I hope Anoop gets the wildcard as I feel he has the most potential.

Posted by Ronnie (Member # 465) on :

there were a couple of people i liked at the very beginning.. alexis and brent (the first country guy)..the rest were crap.

and i do not see what everyone sees in danny. i can't get into him as of now.. don't like his voice, i guess.

the 2nd country guy..michael, i think? he was bad, stephen, the guy who did michael jackson was really bad, and stevie, the young girl who sang some taylor swift song, was definitely the worst.

they chose horrible songs to sing!

Posted by Ronnie (Member # 465) on :

sam, casey sang 'every little thing she does is magic' and she sucked..badly. she looked gorgeous though.

anoop could have been better.. again, poor choice of song.

Posted by buffalo-girl (Member # 7498) on :

i do like casey and jackie but i agree they picked the wrong songs last night!! i thought stevie was okay? i did like alexis, brent, michael, and danny although i think danny and michael should try some rock maybe nickelback songs tatiana was okay i still don't care for her at all i don't think she is that good and her dress was brutal!! lol i also agreed with everything simon said last night!

Posted by Sammy Reign In Blood Hain (Member # 3150) on :

I thought the song Brent picked was horrible and as soon as he announced what song he was going to sing I knew the judges would hate it.

Posted by buffalo-girl (Member # 7498) on :

i like brent's voice but i hate country music so i didn't care for his song last night either!! i just noticed jack has not been here in a while is he on vacation or something? just wondering? dee

Posted by ISIS (Member # 1780) on :

I thought alot of the contestants had bad attitudes, and were kind of rude. The girl that annoyed me the most, is Jackie, she was a mess, her outfit was horrendous. Casey's voice was awful, she had some strange things she was doing with her mouth. I like Danny....I like his personality the best, I don't think he's an out of this world singer- but his voice is different than everyone else's.

Sometimes Paula gets to talking and you have no idea where she is going with it, or what she's even talking about.

I think Tatiana has multiple personality disorder....I couldn't believe how calm she was last night...I can semi understand how a person can get all giddy and goofy and act totally out of the norm for themselves when they are put in a situation like that, but I remember her from when she auditioned, and she kept holding her hand to her heart- like begging and pleading, and then she kept doing a weird thing, like she was blowing a kiss, with sticking her hand to her mouth...but not actually blowing a kiss-it was like a weird guesture I never saw anyone ever do.

She will end up all over the place now...if she is as crazed for attention as she comes across...she'll end up all over the tabloids.

Posted by Ronnie (Member # 465) on :

bad attitudes/rude? you mean last night's group or this season overall?

Posted by pettyfan (Member # 2260) on :

Well I was very disappointed in last night's episode. I liked Brent, Michael and Danny. I think they forgot how to sing, too, Ronnie! Normally I like Stephen but he was horrible lastn night. Maybe next week's batch will be better.

About Tatiana--I don't like her, but she can sing okay. She's just so...annoying...

Posted by Sammy Reign In Blood Hain (Member # 3150) on :

Tatiana did very well at the very beginning and the very end of her song but the middle was nothing spectacular.

I think the problem last night wasn't lack of talent I thought most picked really bad songs or songs that weren't good for them.

I still feel that the three that will move on from last night are Danny, Alexis and Anoop. If any of the three wildcards come from last night's group I'm hoping it will be Jackie just for the fact I like her style and she's a rocker chick.

Posted by pettyfan (Member # 2260) on :

Yeah, song choice last night was just weird. Usually when it's Billboard week or whatever the contestants pick better songs.

Posted by jdocster (Member # 5752) on :

I think the tree that should make it (most talented) based on their performance last night are...

Ricky Braddy -
Danny Gokey -
Alexis Grace -

They had the best vocals/performances IMHO... [Smile]

Posted by Sammy Reign In Blood Hain (Member # 3150) on :

True Ricky was pretty decent too and probably deserves to move on more so than Jackie. I still have Anoop moving forward too and he could sneak into the top 3 this week due to him having a huge fanbase on youtube.

Posted by Ronnie (Member # 465) on :

hmm, i thought ricky was boring and forgettable.

Posted by Sammy Reign In Blood Hain (Member # 3150) on :

so it was Alexis & Danny--no surprises there in my opinion

& Michael--This one shocked me.

Still hoping Anoop gets one of the wildcards

That Brett- is he the one that sang HickTown? He was one I thought was c0cky...I don't mean rude as in being a jerk...I mean like egotistical...when people start being mouthy to the judges- when the judges are the ones that got them there in the first place, then I find that to be ungrateful, and wether they become an Idol or not, for someone that was plucked out of nowhere to have a chance in front of millions of people...they can make the most out of that, and they should never have attitudes.
That's what I don't like.

I went to a Tastfully Simple party tonight, and I didn't see what happened tonight...did I miss anything??

Posted by pettyfan (Member # 2260) on :

Really? I didn't think Brett was c0cky at all. I think the contestants have the right to "talk back" to the judges, so to speak, if they don't agree with them.

Posted by Ronnie (Member # 465) on :

alexis and danny..i knew they would make it.

i was really surprised that michael got in though. he sang that gavin degraw song, awfully.

brett or brent, whatever his name is, was waaaaayyy better than michael, IMO.

So what was last night about? Did they vote on the previous night's people to see who made it through? Did anyone new sing?

Posted by Sammy Reign In Blood Hain (Member # 3150) on :

All they did was have a recap of Tuesday night's show then they did each singer individually and told them if they were moving on or not based on the votes from the previous night. The three that are moving on all got to sing their song again from the previous night. Also earlier in the show the group of twelve sang a song together that was pretty wretched.

Posted by Ronnie (Member # 465) on :

they also had some performances from a couple of last season's top 12 contestants.

Posted by pettyfan (Member # 2260) on :

Yep, let's not forget that Michael Johns came back and sang!!!! [Big Grin] Oh, and Carly too.

Posted by jdocster (Member # 5752) on :

Alexis and Danny deserved it. Michael was a surprise. He's a nice guy, but, Anoop or Ricky deserved it more based on their talent. Next time you watch the show, look away from the TV and just listen to the vocals. Does it change your opinion of anyone? [Smile]

I forgot! Did you see Tatiana the "drama queen"? I couldn't stand her at all...

Posted by buffalo-girl (Member # 7498) on :

i was glad alexis danny and michael all made it thru i thought they were the best ones so glad tatiana is gone yeah!!! and i loved seeing michael johns and carly i loved them last season gonna buy his cd when it comes out in a couple weeks sorry but i thought ricky was dull myself tatiana was pitiful at the end did anyone notice no one was comforting her at the end? too funny she was such a drama queen your right!!

don't forget to watch the 2 hour special tonight with the next round of singers! 8;00 p.m. [Cool]

So ya'll know who I think Adam Lambert looks like? Ryan Lambert. You know, Kids Inc, Monster Squad, used to be (still is?) in a band?

Norman Gentle definitely NOT the next American Idol but hey he loves to do what he doeas and how he does it and I'm not going to hold that against him. He loves to perform. He'll be a star in his own way.

Posted by pettyfan (Member # 2260) on :

Nick/Norman is horrendous. I agree, he enjoys what he does. But WTF were the judges thinking when they put him through in the first place? Tonight's batch seems just as bad as most of last week's...I did like Kris Allen just now, though.

Posted by Sammy Reign In Blood Hain (Member # 3150) on :

Allison did do pretty good on the Heart song. I wouldn't say anybody has been horrendous tonight it's just that nobody has been memorable. So far the only one I feel that will move on is Allison and I still hope Jasmine finds a way to move on too.

Posted by Ronnie (Member # 465) on :

wow, tonight's group totally blew...

i really didn't like any of them, but 3 will have to get through i guess.
i cannot get over how much they all sucked, though?

Posted by Sammy Reign In Blood Hain (Member # 3150) on :

Allison and Adam I feel are shoo ins to be voted to the F12 from tonight's group.

Posted by Stitch Groover (Member # 2895) on :

I'm midway through watching Group 2, Norman/Nick just performed. I've enjoyed him through the auditions and Hollywood round, and I think he's funny... but if he makes it through to the Top 12, Idol will have definately jumped the shark.
Ironically, Nick gave the best performance of the night - Jasmine and the others all stank!

Posted by Stitch Groover (Member # 2895) on :

Oh dear, someone's singing "Alone"? That song is the kiss of death ever since Carrie Underwood (or actually her backup singer) knocked it out of the park a few years back.

OK, I take that back, Alison did a good job. Much better than Ramiele Maluby last year.

Posted by ISIS (Member # 1780) on :

I think they all stunk too. I can't believe how many songs have been repeated over the years. There are billions of songs out there, and they always pick such weird stuff, or pick a song that 10 other people have sang. There's tons of songs by Heart that have never been done.

I just don't understand their song choices.

I thought the girl with the tattooed arm and long curly red hair was cute- she reminded me a little of Darryl Hannah in Splash.
I thought if someone gave her some actual voice lessons, she could be really good.

Adam- was different....alot of the song he was screaming- and over did it, but he does sing good, and he has energy. He reminds me of a combo of Joan Jett and Sam Harris (from Star Search).

I laughed at Norm/Nick- he was semi entertaining....he picked the absolutely right song for him...but then at the end when they were judging him, he runs his mouth too much, and then he just comes across as a pain in the butt. He should know when to quit with the mouthy attitude- if he did, I think he'd do better.

Most of them were absolutely horrible, and I felt restless just try to sit through it.

I did like the guy that sang "Man in the Mirror", but like Simon says about a bunch of them...they are forgetable performances...and people... it seems that for them to be remembered they have to be beyond excellent or freaky.

They have said this was going to be the best season yet...but I don't actually care who wins at this point, if I even skip watching it- I wouldn't even care.

Does anyone know what the story is about Paula and Kara...the previews on my local news (that I didn't watch) said that Paula was not happy with her at all. I actually can't stand her, the more she has been on there and opened her mouth- the more annoying she is. The thing with the judges ...is they are say just about the exact same things, no matter who they are talking about...except for Paula- where half the time you can't understand what she is saying...sometimes- when she is trying to figure out what to say- it is almost embarrassing to watch, because everyone is waiting for her to talk, and then she says the weirdest stuff.

Randy always says...That was the bomb! and Dawg!

Simon always says they were cabaret or sounded like a lounge singer or a cruise ship singer, or that it was awful. I think he's always right, half the time I wonder what the other ones are listening to.

Posted by buffalo-girl (Member # 7498) on :

i agree with you on everything you said isis but i do like adam at least he rocked and was not boring? i also liked the 16 year old with the bright red hair allison she sang that heart song alone really well, i loved matt's song too but i love alternative music alot but he sang it well i think the rest just picked bad songs they sounded pitiful!! can't wait to see who stays? i am hoping they pick adam, allison and matt!!

That guy Norman would be good in an off-Broadway show. He's pretty funny at times. Did you here him say "karate kick" to Simon after he threw a kick at him? That was funny! Not a great singer but he doesn't totally suck. Definitely should not have been put through. It was done for the ratings.

Thing is when Nick/Norman sings as Nick he's awesome he just loves performing as Norman more I guess.

BTW I don't think that Norman was being rude or a jerk with his banter towards the judges. I think that's just another extension of his Norman character which that's all it is is just a character. What I've seen of Nick he seems to be a pretty decent guy.

Now I just have to remember to record tonight's show since it's running opposite from Survivor. Then it's off to Hell's Kitchen.

Posted by ISIS (Member # 1780) on :

That guy on Hell's Kitchen, needs someone to crack him in the head with a frying pan.

Well...on American Idol, your suppose to be you- not a "character", it isn't an acting competition, so that doesn't makes sense to be someone else. I just don't get that.

Posted by Sammy Reign In Blood Hain (Member # 3150) on :

From what I've heard Gordon Ramsey is actually a very nice guy who is fun to hang out with outside of the kitchen and when the cameras aren't rolling. Besides some of the people he screams at probably deserve it. These people claim to be so great in the kitchen yet suck royally on the show. Like Colleen from this season she gives cooking lessons and charges $300 yet she couldn't cook rice. Giovanni is an executive chef in a steakhouse and last week had steak after steak sent back because they were cooked improperly.

I just found out one thing about Jesse Langseth one of last night's performers on American Idol; the one that sang "Bette Davis Eyes". She has a famous brother, none other than the awesome blues guitarist Jonny Lang. So in other words she's lived in North Dakota.

We had a character in the first season of Australian Idol back in 2003. Courtney Act was a "gender illusionist" (in other words, a drag act), but she was very very good and just missed out on a spot in the Top 10. She has gone on to have some success in the charts, and is a popular touring artist.

The Hell's Kitchen guy ...is a maniac...I just watched the previews after Idol- and he threw food at someone. Why is that necessary- your talking about cooking dinner. I watched what they were cooking, and it was easy stuff...my gosh ...they can't multi task, worth a hoot.

I cook breakfast for 6-10 people on the weekends...I make at least 4-5 things, I am the waitress, the hostess, the cook, the bus-person, and its not hard...I talk to people the whole time. There's no reason to make things that darn complicated.

.......

On Idol- I think they will bring Meagan back, for a second chance- I thought she'd beat out Chris.

I heard Paula say that it does not work having a 4th judge.....but it's the executives of the show that did that.

Tonight Kara and Simon got in to it a little bit. I hope they dump her.

I hope they bring back Megan, Jasmine and Matt G from tonight and they just might bring back Norman/Nick for entertainment purposes.

I'm really surprised that Kriss made it just as I was surprised that Michael made it from last week.

Some of my favourites on next weeks show are Jorge, Taylor and Lil

well 2 out of the 3 i liked stayed last night!! i was bummed the big bald headed dude left sorry brain freeze forgot his name again? i was surprised kris stayed last night too sorry but his voice is wimpy to me? i loved hell's kitchen last night too i watch it every week i think colleen should go too she is terrible previews look very interesting next week lol!!

I liked Kris (I think I'm in the minority here LOL) and Adam, so I was happy about them. I'll be honest--there aren't many female singers that I actually like...I like male singers better. So I usually pull for guys in AI (Carrie was the exception...liked Kellie Pickler too).

They did a group song on the last show....does anyone know the name of the song?

I have no clue how to look it up.

I think Lil Rounds was the best tonight, I think she will definately be one of the finalists.

Posted by Sammy Hain Invasion (Member # 3150) on :

Lil was the best. She's been one of my favourites from the beginning. The guys I figure will be between Scott and Jorge with a slight chance of Ju'not moving on.

What I can't figure out is all the time they spent on Nathaniel.

Posted by pettyfan (Member # 2260) on :

I liked Lil' Rounds also. She was awesome. I also really liked Ju'Not. I hope he moves on. I can't figure out the Nathaniel thing either Sam. He's just annoying to me.

Posted by buffalo-girl (Member # 7498) on :

yes nathaniel is very annoying and not that good at all!! he needs to go home lol lil rounds and junot' and scott were the best kristin was good but her dress was very sad!!! i thought felicia was good too von and taylor were terrible!! dee

Posted by ISIS (Member # 1780) on :

I liked Felicia too, and I also don't get how Nathaniel is still there-I thought he got the boot awhile ago.

I missed how Felicia got brought back. I thought that they haven't picked any wild cards, so I thought that everyone that was eliminated was gone for good until next week.

I didn't like Ju'Not. I have never heard that song "Hey Deliah" before now, now I have heard it sang on this show at least 3 or 4 times already, and it isn't even a good song.

I think it will come down between Danny and Lil.

They both have a touching life story too, and out of most of them- they seem the most appreciative.

I can't remember the Spanish guy's name, but that was kind of emotional...why were they making him lose his accent? Like Simon said, he's Spanish...he only has an accent to people who don't speak Spanish...and this is the United States, so what was that all about?

I still hate the songs they pick to sing.

There are so many really great songs out there, and they never pick any of them.

Posted by Sammy Hain Invasion (Member # 3150) on :

Felicia was brought back because contestant Joanna Paccitti who qualified for the final 36 was found to be ineligible because she had a previous recording contract. I posted about it a couple weeks ago already.

The Puerto Rican's name is Jorge

I'm sure they're all picking songs that they personally like. All the songs they pick are great. The problem is that a lot of them pick songs that don't fit their particular singing style so they come across as being bad.

Posted by Ronnie (Member # 465) on :

i thought this group was way better than the others but wow, everyone is so pitchy when they sing.

lil rounds was just ok to me, but she was the best one of all of them. i cannot get into this season's singers for some reason. hopefully that will change.

Posted by pettyfan (Member # 2260) on :

Me too Ronnie--I was so into it last year, what with Cook, Michael Johns, Castro, Carly...they were good. This year--meh, I guess they still have a ways to go.

Ditto...

Posted by ISIS (Member # 1780) on :

I can not believe they picked Tatiana as a wild card, why? why? why?

She is self absorbed. She's just going to get voted off anyway.

I do not like how they did the selecting this time- I don't remember it being like this before.

Posted by Sammy Hain Invasion (Member # 3150) on :

I was happy to see them pick Anoop, Jesse, Matt and Jasmine as wild cards.

I think as of this moment Lil Rounds is the person to beat.

Posted by buffalo-girl (Member # 7498) on :

i was glad they picked lil rounds scott and junot but why bring tatiana back ugggg!!!! terrible, actually i still wish they would have kept felicia and i wish they would have picked the bald headed matt for the wild card pick i really liked him as far as the show this year i did like the singers better last year too more rockers this year we have one adam!! david cook is gonna be at the casino here friday night just bought his new cd very good songs on it dee

Posted by pettyfan (Member # 2260) on :

I didn't think Ju'not got picked as a wildcard...did he? Anyhoo, I didn't like any of the wildcards they picked. Isis, I have to agree with you...why why why?? I mean, she can sing okay, but I hate all the drama she brings with her. I wanted Matt to go through also...

Posted by buffalo-girl (Member # 7498) on :

no junot was not a wild card pick he was one of the top three they picked !! i was also kind of glad they did not pick the little country girl and she did think she was gonna make it thru last night you could see it in her face! i think she is very cute but her singing is just okay then again i hate country music sorry!! dee

Posted by Stitch Groover (Member # 2895) on :

Lil was definately the best of the group. I didn't know the song, but it was very good. It was the strongest group of the three, and even the worst performance (Kendall - her singing was sharp) was better than some from groups one and two.

I'm conflicted about Blindy getting through, he's a good singer but his disability is going to get him through further than he might otherwise have gone.

I was disappointed that Ju'not wasn't in the top 3, and then again when he wasn't chosen as a wild card. He's one of the best singers and interpreters of the entire 36.

I'm thrilled that Tatiana is a wildcard - oh the drama!!!! The only way I could be happier is if Norman/Nick had been chosen, and since the corpse of Simon Cowell wasn't on the judging panel, I knew that wasn't gonna happen (coz it would only happen over Simon's dead body)

So how is it going to work tomorrow night? Are they going to perform, or is it going to take an hour for the judges to just tell us which 3 of the 8 are going through?

Nope Ju'Not wasn't picked in the top three either. The top three wre Scott, Lil and Jorge

It's not on tonight is it?

I like Jorge. He seems very humble- and I like that about people. It is one thing to be confident, but it is another thing to be so far removed from everything to where you don't care if anyone else even does well, and all you care about is if you win or not.

I personally would be rooting for the best person to win, wether they were better than me or not....that's what is fair...and your life isn't over...to get that far and be on stage in front of that many people is more than what most professional singers will ever do.

I was thinking about Lil Rounds singing Mary J. Blige's song- you know that Mary J. Blige has heard it by now...she probably was watching...so how much more could you ever ask for.

I can't stand Tatiana thanking everyone and bawling...people were laughing at her...but it really isn't funny that she's that big of a mess.
That's what's really messed up, she has major issues going on, and people just want to exploit that.

last night i went to a family member's anniversary and forgot to tivo american idol, by the time i realized it, it was more than half way over.

from what i read here, i gather that tatiana is back???? are you friggin kidding me?

what else happened?

Posted by Sammy Hain Invasion (Member # 3150) on :

They announced the three winners from the previous night: Scott, Lil & Jorge. Giving us 9 finalists so far The previous three I just mentioned along with the 6 from the previous 2 weeks.

Then the judges announced 8 of the people eliminated over the past three weeks to come back again tonight and I'm assuming to perform one more time. From there the judges will pick three of those eight to join the 9 people voted in so far to give us the final 12. The 8 people the judges chose to come back tonight are: Jasmine, Megan, Jesse, Tatiana, Matt G, Von, Anoop and Ricky.

Posted by Ronnie (Member # 465) on :

ok thanks sam, for clearing it up for me.

i don't recognize some of those names so i'll have to see who they're talking about.

thanks again sam. [Smile]

Posted by Sammy Hain Invasion (Member # 3150) on :

Jasmine--Cute 17 year old african-american girl
Megan--arm sleeve tattoo, very jazzy sounding
Jesse--sang Bette Davis Eyes, sister of Jonny Lang
Tatiana--you know her
Matt G--sang Coldplay, Dueling Pianist
Von--sang first on Tuesday
Anoop--Dorky looking guy
Ricky--from the first group of 12 two weeks ago

I'm hoping any combination of Jasmine, Megan, Jesse, Matt G or Anoop makes it. I feel Megan and Anoop stand the best chance.

Posted by ISIS (Member # 1780) on :

They did exactly what I thought they would do.

But, I don't understand why they even brought Tatiana back, she only ever sang 1 song.

When Megan won a spot and Tatiana didn't...all the focus went to Tatiana having a bawling fit...that's not right...that took away from Megan being happy.

Tatiana has serious Mental Health issues going on, and when they are looking at a person's entire "package" of who they are, and that people do idolize those people, then it's wrong to put someone in that kind of role- who obviously is unstable.

By next week, she'll probably have her own reality show.

Posted by ISIS (Member # 1780) on :

Megan reminds me of Reese Witherspoon, allthough I think Megan is actually prettier. I like her voice...she is very different.

Posted by pettyfan (Member # 2260) on :

Top 13--who knew? Anyway, as I've said before, I generally prefer male singers so those are the ones I'll be pulling for, even though I do like Lil'Rounds. Megan--meh, she was just okay. Jasmine was okay too. Wonder what their first week's theme will be? Hopefully not two weeks' worth of Beatles' songs again.

Posted by Sammy Hain Invasion (Member # 3150) on :

I thought there was six really good performances tonight

I really liked how Jesse sang the classic funk Rufus w/Chaka Kahn song. I've always liked that song and thought she performed it really well. Too bad she isn't moving on.

Matt G--wasn't too crazy about the song he chose to sing but man can he bring the blues. Happy with his moving on.

Megan really hate that song she sang but it's in her comfort zone and I thought she did it well. No complaints with her advancement.

Von--sang a really good Elton John song really bad.

Jasmine--Once again not a fan of the song she chose but she showed she can bring it pretty well. I've liked her since her first audition.

Ricky I thought did a really good job on a classic Stevie Wonder song. If they would have made it a final 14 instead of 13 the final spot would have been between him or Jesse.

Anoop--Glad he has another chance and liked the fakeout they gave him when they surprised him with it being a final 13

Tatiana--Thankfully she's gone.

Once again you're trying to be an armchair psychiatrist. It's OK for us to call her a serious drama queen but the only one that posts here that is qualified to say she has mental issues is NOMS, and then he can only do that after some serious consultation with her and not just from watching her on TV.

Posted by Ronnie (Member # 465) on :

i don't like jasmine. she has serious pitch problems when she sings. i'm surprised they keep giving her chances.

megan is "current" like simon said, and very pretty, she has a different voice, but needs to prove she belongs in the top 12. hopefully she does better than what we've seen.

i cannot believe anoop sang the same song again. but it worked, i guess..
glad he made it.

im glad that matt made it through - he did a good job.

Nobody has to have a stinkin degree in psychology to know when someone is completely self absorb and a big giant bawl baby, that is a sore loser, and someone who has no care about anyone else.

I have done counseling work before...I have no clue why you think that it takes a Master's Degree to give an opinion about a person.

Posted by Sammy Hain Invasion (Member # 3150) on :

there's a difference between calling somebody self absorbed and a bawl baby then saying they have mental issues.

Posted by jdocster (Member # 5752) on :

Ding dong Tatiana is gone!!!! FINALLY!!! I couldn't stand her. Drama queen, self absorbed, fake, spoiled. I was going to boycott the show if they kept her... [Eek!]

Now, on with the show! [Smile]

Posted by ISIS (Member # 1780) on :

Don't you think being self absorbed is a mental issue? Mental issues aren't just schizos and people bouncing off the walls....being so wrapped up in yourself to the point that you are in your own world, and have no feelings about anything else that is going on around you- that is a problem.

Posted by Stitch Groover (Member # 2895) on :

It's such a shame Tatiana has such a brilliant voice. I don't know why she sang the same song though, I'd like to have heard her sing something up tempo, maybe a Gloria Estefan song.

I think it's best for her though that she didn't get through, the strain of the competition would have gotten much for her and I wouldn't have been suprised if she'd ended up having a breakdown.

Posted by buffalo-girl (Member # 7498) on :

i agree with you stitch cause i don't think she would have made it thru that fardid you notice after she didn't make it thru she ran up to the judges and just lost it then? then she was gone you didn't see her after that she must have ran off stage and totally lost it and your right she sang the same song 3 times that was not good it was like that was the only song she knew and could sing? [Wink]

Posted by Sammy Hain Invasion (Member # 3150) on :

I wonder what Anoop was thinking backstage when the judges were criticizing Tatiana for singing a repeat song when he was going to be singing a repeat song himself?

Posted by buffalo-girl (Member # 7498) on :

yeah i wonder too sammy!!! this is the first season where the singers are doing this? what are they thinking? it doesn't show that they can sing other types of songs that's for sure!!

So tonight is the first week of the finals. 13 contestants instead of the usual 12. I wonder if that means they're adding an extra week, or having a double elimination for one week or maybe even a final 3 instead of 2?

Posted by Ronnie (Member # 465) on :

good point, sam. i wonder what kind of songs they'll start out with tonight? is there a theme for tonight? i don't remember them saying what kind of songs they'll be performing.

Posted by Sammy Hain Invasion (Member # 3150) on :

Not too sure. I thought I heard that both Kelly Clarkson and Kanye West are performing on the Wednesday show but not sure about tonight.

Posted by pettyfan (Member # 2260) on :

I figured maybe double elimination. Carrie Underwood has remade Motley Crue's Home Sweet Home, and that will be the "going home" song they play for the eliminated contestant each week. I'm anxious to see how everyone does tonight.

Posted by Sammy Hain Invasion (Member # 3150) on :

Lil--Good as always

Scott--I agree with Randy and Simon; wasn't that impressed

Danny--Was fun and I liked him tonight

Michael--didn't see or hear what the judges saw and heard

Jasmine--not bad, hope she sticks around; not sure what the judges want from her. they always say she's trying to be too grown up even though she sang a song Michael Jackson recorded when he was very young. I'm confused

Kris--I always forget who this guy is when they mention his name and tonight's performance won't help any; am I missing something with this guy?

Allison--Pretty awesome; a definite sleeper given the amount of airtime she had during the auditions and Hollywood week

Anoop--Agree with the judges, definitely a disappointment

Jorge--Guess I'm totally out of whack with the judges tonight. I didn't think it was all that bad.

Megan--I thought it was fun but maybe too kiddish of a song choice

Adam--The showman as always

Matt--seemed to find his bluesy side tonight. Very good

Alexis--I agree she was a naughty girl and I too liked it

with it being a double elimination my picks to go home are Anoop and hopefully Kris but will probably be Jasmine

I think Anoop and Jorge will be the ones to go from tonight, even though I liked Jorge.

I liked all of them. I think even though Michael Jackson has such weird personal problems, he still is an awesome singer, and song writer.

How can you not do well with one of his songs, unless you can't sing at all.

I love LiL's outfit- it looked so 80's looking- her hair style reminds me of Salt N Pepa, and I loved the white jeans with the light pink satin shirt...

I love the song Human Nature, so I loved hearing it-the end was a little off pitch, but I love that song, and I loved P.Y.T.

I thought this was the best night they have had this season.

I liked Adam singing "Black or White", I like his look too, sometimes he screams too much, but he really gets in to the whole thing, and I love people that really get in to it.

I thought Kris did really well, he reminds me of Corey Haim.

I loved Jasmine's outfit- she looked adorable- that's the kind of stuff I wish I saw people wearing. Maybe it will catch on more. There's hope.

i loved jasmine's outfit also and thought she did well, loved danny , michael, allison, adam. and alexis i think anoop and jorge' will go home tonight lil rounds was good also. megan's song was okay but i think she should have picked a different song also too kiddish!! i guess we will have to see what happens tonight 2 will go home!!

What're you missing about Kris, Sammy? I for one think he's hot. Really hot. [Big Grin] But that's just me and I know you don't really care about that. LOL. Seriously, he's a decent singer. I enjoyed his song. I also enjoyed Michael--the judges did too and I liked Lil and Danny. We'll see what happens tonight.

i was so glad that the majority of them did a great job, i was impressed.

i don't like jasmine. i don't know what they see in her, other than she has "the look."
i don't like michael too much either.

the ones that stood out for me, were adam and kris. to me, they were the best ones.

alexis didn't sing dirty diana too great, IMO. she looked awesome, but i didn't enjoy her performance as much as i thought i was going to.

anoop and jorge could have done better. but i think they will stay.

as for megan, my goodness-what was she thinking? that song was a horrible choice for being in the top 12 or 13. expectations are high in the finals and she blew that!
i agree, sam.. it was like a kiddy performance.

is allison the chick with the red hair? great job! i thought GIVE IN TO ME would be a difficult song to sing, but she did a good job.

Here are the best singers to me:

1 - Danny Gokey
2 - Matt Giraud
3 - Allison Iraheta

The rest are so so... I think Adam is way over-hyped... [Smile]

Just want to pipe in and say that it bothers me every show when Ryan introduces Simon and Randy boos. Everytime.

Nothing shocking with either elimination tonight. Both Jorge and Jasmine I felt were at risk because of their performances last night. Just sad to see both go because they're both very likable. Would have prefered to see Anoop and maybe Scott go instead. I think Jasmine still has a chance to have a career in the music industry. She has a strong powerful voice that she needs to work on but being only 17 she has time for it to develop. She also has great poise, confidence and a cute look.

I knew the judges wouldn't waste there one save for the season on either of these two. They're going to save it for somebody like Lil, Adam or Danny if they need to.

I hated the song by Kayne West-what the heck was that....and the Kelly Clarkson song- My Life would SUCK without you. When the word "SUCK" gets put in a song- there's something wrong with the world- cripes what were her lyrics?? "I know I've got issues, but your messed up too" .

How can people sing along to that sucky song?

The song sucked to no end.

My mom said.. what the heck was that....

My mom thought Kayne was a mess too, his pants were hanging off his butt, he was totally off pitch, and his mic altered his actual voice, it was a mess. He is one giant egomaniac, and I can't stand him.

I liked the Filet-O-Fish commercial...where the fish on the wall was singing "gimme back my filet-o-fish, gimme it back now".....I thought that song was better than either of the people that performed tonight.

The 2 people they sent home were better than they were.

I liked the group song.

I have liked all the group songs so far.

I LOVED the commercial they all did tonight, I have said ...how come they can do cool commercials during American Idol, but the rest of the time, commercials SUCK. (Except I now love the Filet O Fish commercial)

I thought Simon was really rude to Jorge at the end, there's no reason for that.

I can see being blunt ...but sometimes he deliberately is just plain mean.

I think in the end...Adam might win...I think Lil is too much like Fantasia, and Danny -he's starting to kind of resemble Taylor Hicks-with the dance moves...I think Adam is so different from anyone they have had so far-that he could win it-people went nuts tonight when he stood up. He definately reminds me of Sam Harris from Star Search.

I feel Adam is the best and he should breeze through the next six weeks or so when there's more contestants. But once the number of contestants gets fewer and fewer Adam might be too over the top for a lot of people and he could end up getting voted off. But then I honestly believe that Adam doesn't need to win this competition either because I feel he's guaranteed a hefty recording contract regardless of where he finishes.

If I had to pick a Top 3 right now though i would include Adam in my list along with Lil and Danny.

I don't know what it is about Kanye West. I would never buy any of his music but there's something about it that I actually like. Not a fan of him as a person but I feel he does have some talent.

I think a title like "My Life Would Suck Without You" is actually saying something positive even though the word suck is in the title. If I had a girlfriend ever say that to me I'd be thinking...HOW COOL!!!!!

Posted by buffalo-girl (Member # 7498) on :

okay my top 3 are adam, danny, and alexis, i do like allison too though. i was very surprised jasmine left instead of megan i think she has a better voice myself. i didn;t care for kelly's song either but i never really liked her music anyways bubble gum music in my opinion don't like kanye either so i didn't even watch him last night lol. and isis i know the commercial you are talking about with the fish on the wall they play it constantly on all the channels here getting annoying now lol!!

BuffaloGirl-That was the first time I ever saw that commercial, and I thought it was hysterical, I do believe that after listening to it over and over that it could drive me crazy.

Well I LOVE My Life Would Suck W/O You!! Awesome song.

I can't say I'm upset over Jorge and Jasmine leaving. My top 3 would also be Danny, Lil' and Adam.

i missed the majority of last nights show because i again, forgot to record it and was out to dinner. arg!

i did see the last 20 mins. so i saw jorge get the boot.
i also saw kelly clarkson sing, she did good.

i'm sorry i missed kanye. my b/f is a huge fan of him and we were both sad that we missed his performance, does anyone know which song he performed?

i still don't like danny haha. i know he's a favorite for most of you, but i think isis got it right.. he's too taylor hicks for me.

i like adam, although he's a bit theatrical, maybe that's good? i want to hear him sing some aerosmith, or something. wouldn't that be cool.

i missed lil's perfomance so i can't comment on her.

Posted by jdocster (Member # 5752) on :

I liked the new Kelly Clarkson song to. I thought it was kind of funny. She has a great voice and can sing anything and make it sound good. She is truly the best American idol so far...

Sammy makes some good points (usually does [Wink] ) about Kanye. I'm not into rap or the pants hangin off of your butt look (WTF?), but, I think he does have talent.

The McD's commercial cracks me up! [Big Grin]

We must have missed that McD's commercial. They went away for a commercial break and then when they came back they were already done talking to Michael telling him he was safe.

Kayne sang some song about a girl being Heartless.

I couldn't understand a darn thing he said, except I heard the word "heartless". He was awful. Just totally horrendous. That isn't even music, and the lyrics are horrid.

Yo. Yo. Yo. Yo....Like listen to this dumb song...like Yo.

What the heck does Yo even mean??
Duh?

In the night, I hear 'em talk,
the coldest story ever told
Somewhere far along this road, he lost his soul to a woman so heartless...
How could you be so heartless?
Oh... How could you be so heartless?

[Verse 1]
How could you be so, cold as the winter wind when it breeze, yo
Just remember that you talkin' to me though
You need to watch the way you talkin' to me, yo
I mean after all the things that we've been through
I mean after all the things we got into
Hey yo, I know of some things that you ain't told me
Hey yo, I did some things but that's the old me
And now you wanna get me back and you gon' show me
So you walk around like you don't know me
You got a new friend, while I got homies
But in the end it's still so lonely

[Chorus]
In the night, I hear 'em talk,
the coldest story ever told
Somewhere far along this road, he lost his soul to a woman so heartless...
How could you be so heartless?
Oh... How could you be so heartless?

[Verse 2]
How could you be so Dr. Evil, you bringin' out a side of me that I dont know...
I decided we weren't gon' speak so
Why we up 3 A.M. on the phone
Why does she be so mad at me fo'
Homie I dont know, she's hot and cold
I won't stop, won't mess my groove up
'Cause I already know how this thing go
You run and tell your friends that you're leaving me
They say that they don't see what you see in me
You wait a couple months then you gon' see
You'll never find nobody better than me

[Chorus]
In the night, I hear 'em talk,
the coldest story ever told
Somewhere far along this road, he lost his soul to a woman so heartless...
How could you be so heartless?
Oh... How could you be so heartless?

[Verse 3]
Talkin', talkin', talkin', talk
Baby let's just knock it off
They don't know what we been through
They don't know 'bout me and you
So I got something new to see
And you just gon' keep hatin' me
And we just gon' be enemies
I know you can't believe
I could just leave it wrong
And you can't make it right
I'm gon' take off tonight
Into the night....

[Chorus]
In the night, I hear 'em talk,
the coldest story ever told
Somewhere far along this road, he lost his soul to a woman so heartless...
How could you be so heartless?
Oh... How could you be so heartless?

he sings a lot, he hardly raps on that album.
i wasn't crazy about kanye before but i understand him a bit better now, and his music.

What???

What are 2 talking about?

Where does racism and rap music come in to play in anything I said.

I don't care what race a person is, for them to talk like a moron...there's plenty of white rappers- like Eminem who talk like morons, and the music from Breakin is not full of Ebonics- so it's not even in the same kind of category of whatever it is that Kayne West is doing. I don't care what race, nationality, whatever ...I am talking about sounding like you don't have a brain in your head.

Me saying Yo....in that statement...is proving a point...that you can stick the word YO, in anywhere...when you can't think up a word to put there...just add in a few more Yo Yo's, and you got a song. That's a cop out for writing music.

I didn't get to see the performance or results show until yesterday, so here's my 2 cents.

Overall, the quality of the show was very high, even Jorge, who was very cheesy, at least sang well.

I think it's a very strong Top 13, but my only worries are about the implications of Scott and Danny - that they will go far or even win because of their sob stories.

I didn't like Adam, it was too over the top, but I thought Megan's "Rockin' Robin" was adorable and left of centre.

I fast forwarded through Kanye's performance coz I just cannot stand him and his ego, but Kelly Clarkson was awesome! My life would suck without Kelly Clarkson!

As far as this "Ebonics" thing goes - it's just made up words used to seperate one group of people from another, not necessarily in a good way. I think it caters to the lowest denominator, and is actually fairly insulting when big superstars like Kanye and Diddy use it to sell records.

But is "Yo" an Ebonics word? I think it's fairly broad spectrum now.

Yo!

Posted by MotleyRulz (Member # 3598) on :

Even though Breakin's music wasn't ebonics, it branched out later on to become what is today's modern hip hop as a lot of current hip hop stars cite is as an influence so technically your a hip hop fan I guess. It's no more insulting to use ebonics to sell records than it is to use sexuality to sell them(Kylie Minogue, Britney Spears, Spice Girls, Ashley Simpson, Jessica Simpson, etc.). That's pretty much catering to the lowest common denominator. Let's put someone without any talent in next to no clothes and make out like they have a talent. We'll cover up this lack of talent through revealing clothing and package it...........

You're absolutely right Motz.

Pop stars with next to no talent using sexuality to pander to men is catering to the lowest common denominator.

I couldn't agree with you more.

It's exactly the same as urban gangstas with next to no talent mumbling about pimpin' out their ho's!

Country week yuck...definitely not my cup of tea. Well hopefully some of them will pick some good Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson or Patsy Cline.

Michael--Fast lyrics but didn't challenge his vocal range. Country seems to be his comfort zone but not sure how America will like it. Could be a possible candidate to get cut.

Allison--Where did this girl come from? I don't even remember her from her audition or Hollywood week and here she just gets better and better every week. Feel she's developing into a darkhorse candidate.

Kris--I just don't feel for this guy. As usual with him it wasn't terrible but not memorable at all. Definitely safe to stay.

Lil--Definitely her weakest performance to date. Should be safe and if not I feel the judges would use their power of veto to save her. Still feel Michael is the top candidate to go home.

Adam--Amazing!!! Not the traditional version of Ring Of Fire but I'd expect nothing less from him. I can't wait from week to week to see what he does next.

Scott--Another safe song. He's turning to be kind of boring. Still think Michael should go home as of this moment.

Alexis--Not impressed. She didn't do what she should have done with that song. Between her and Michael to go home at this moment.

Danny--Good as always. So far the safest pick to stick around.

Anoop--Very Solid. Can never go wrong with a Willie Nelson song.

Megan--Very Good; especially since she has the flu. I was going to say she was having pitch problems until they said she had the flu. I love her singing style. Shes quirky and cute.

Matt--White soul boy with an another awesome performance. Him and Allison are the two dark horses.

On the chopping block: Michael and Alexis

Ironic since I felt that going into tonight they would have been the two most comfortable with the country genre.

Going Home: I'm guessing Michael

Posted by ISIS (Member # 1780) on :

I think Anoop did really good- I was shocked-I thought he could be the next to go, but I think it could be Alexis (which I liked her), or it could be Michael.

I like Kris alot.

Megan is so different, she reminds me of someone from a different time period, just the way she sings-is so unique- and I like that sound. I love when they sing older songs- those songs have meaning to them.

I didn't know the song that Kris sang-but I really liked it- that's the kind of stuff I wish I heard on the radio today.

Adam, reminds me of something from the 80s, that song sounded like something from Siouxie and the Banshees. I liked it. He's pretty darn cute.
Why can't he be on the radio now...that kind of stuff is what should be out there...these people actually are singing great...they are so much better than people that have actual recording contracts already- they are way better than Kayne West.

I was talking to my mom about the whole Ebonics thing, because I saw Chris Brown doing an interview with Tyra Banks , and he sounded stupid, and I think the whole ebonics thing is a way of making it be OK to be stupid. Don't people want to sound intelligent when they talk?

Showing kids that it's OK, to walk around sounding like an idiot, and yet that dude is a millioniare- I think it sends a really bad message out there.

I don't even like hearing Randy saying "Dope" and "Dawg" all the time, if he did it every once and awhile that's one thing, but it's like every other word, and I like Randy.

I don't like any of those girls mentioned who are singers today- I think they are totally terrible role models, and horrendous singers. Britney Spears is a giant embarrassing mess.

Posted by Ronnie (Member # 465) on :

good show - i love country music and appreciate singers like randy travis who have been around singing good music for decades, to help coach the singers.

Michael--blech, i don't like him. perhaps he thought just because country is his type of genre of music.. he didn't have to try that hard? i don't know, i hope he goes home. and his smarta$$ comebacks when the judges were critiquing him.. dude shut the eff up. you're supposed to stand there and take the criticism..you may not like it, but tough shizz. he ticked me off.

Allison--she did a good job. it wasn't a very stand out performance, but still good. i feel she should return next week.

Kris--great, great job! i loved him and i love his song choice plus the way he sang it. he'll definitely be back next week - good.

Lil--she was ok. i know she tried but i agree with the judges, she could have chosen a better song to sing. i love martina's music, but that song is pretty flat until you reach the chorus. and that's the only exciting part.

Adam--wonderful. i love the arrangement for the song, and i love his vocals. he did something different and it worked. he reminds me of a young, michael damien (his looks). i know it was a little strange, but his performance stood out.

Scott--boring. boring. boring. time to go home, i think.

Alexis--love the song, jolene. but she didn't do a good job singing it. i thought the whole song was bad. but i think she'll return.

Danny--still don't like him, much. but he sang the song very well at the end. the beginning was boring and low. but still, i know he'll be back because he's already a favorite.

Anoop--i thought it was ok. i didn't think it was the best vocal of the night. but he did ok. i didn't love it, but i didn't hate it either.

Megan--much better this week, she looked gorgeous. i loved her vocals. i think she sounds like the music that came out of the 30s and 40s... that old classic jazzy swing big band type stuff. i loved it. patsy cline songs suit her well.

Matt--i had the tv turned down when he sang, so i didn't hear him too well. but it sounded like it was good?

the contestants bothered me tonight because i just don't get the constant.. "i had fun" thing. well, that's great and all, but they aren't being judged on having fun. a handful of them talked back and and kept saying " i was going for something different"...
it's kind of pointless to whine about that as an excuse as to why they didn't do so great.

other than that.. tonight's show was good.

Posted by ISIS (Member # 1780) on :

I think that way too Ronnie...but it's the same with the judges...they tell them to pick different songs- and then when they do ...then they say they shouldn't have picked that one. I think if they are a good enough singer the song shouldn't even matter than much.

I didn't like Lil singing Independance Day- she can sing, but there was something "off" about it.

I thought Michael was being mouthy too...he said "if we were all perfect, we wouldn't need this show."

That is true....to some degree....but that's because how is a normal person suppose to break in to that industry any more. It is so commercialized.

It is amazing to me, what these people looked like before they get them all glammed up.

i am not a country music lover at all but i loved danny, alexis, and adam and allison the rest were okay but really not that good? i didn't see michael as i was switcing back and forth to the hockey game but i don't care for matt either i just don't think his voice is that good? if i could guess i would say anoop or michael will go home tonight? but who knows?

Posted by MotleyRulz (Member # 3598) on :

Well if you look at it like that, if they're a good enough singer, then they shouldn't have to go on the show in the first place. I'll always be a fan of old school country (Willie, Whitley, Merle, Waylan, Cash, Williams, Twitty, etc.) but this crap that's packaged and called country these days in no way resembles country. Our country music forefathers who have since passed probably roll over in their graves every time the "next big act" gets a contract in Nashville or anywhere else for that matter........

First off let me say that I'm a fan of Adam (and yes he is cute, whoever said that [Wink] ). BUT BUT BUT I thought his rendition of Ring of Fire was HORRID!!! Ugh! I really liked Kris...the song he sang is actually an old Bob Dylan song. I like Lil' Rounds as well but I really didn't like her version of Independence Day. I really liked Anoop's performance as well. I didn't like Alexis' version of Jolene. I thought it was missing something...it'll be interesting to see who goes tonight.

I think Brad Paisley is awful, I don't like his music at all. I have no clue how he got so big, and he's not attractive looking , even slightly. So I am not sure of his appeal.

I absolutely LOVED Carrie Underwood singing "I Told You So". I would buy that song. Did she just do it for the show, or did she release that on an album? That song is so nice, and the lyrics were so emotional and I loved how she sang it....I thought of Kelly Clarkson after that, and that dumb song she sang, and I thought how can anyone hear a beautiful song done like Carrie Underwood just did, and then hear that other song by Kelly Clarkson, and think it was any good?

Carrie Underwood is a way better singer than Kelly Clarkson.

There are beautiful songs out there, that can be done different or sang differently, and yet we keep getting all this Hip Hop junk.

I think this whole new rule of them saving someone, is a bunch of bull...talk about putting the pressure on a person- Alexis had to have been so nervous- you could tell in her voice. I think that's mean to do.

Alexis reminds me of Debbie Harry. She has that look.

I can't believe how old Randy Travis is looking.

I use to LOVE country music in the 80s and the 90s. I loved The Judds, Alabama, Reba McEntire...I loved Garth Brooks- Brooks and Dunn, Aaron Tippon, Clint Black, Patty Loveless, Tanya Tucker, Sammy Kershaw, Lorrie Morgan, Alan Jackson, Vince Gill, and I loved Blackhawk.

My Aunt always had a thing for George Strait. My mom use to like Ricky Van Shelton and Dwight Yocum. I have no clue what happened to country music either.

I loved the Judds ...Why Not Me, and Grandpa- those are such good songs, and Alabama- I love the songs She and I, and the Closer You Get....they were great.

I saw Exile in concert a few years ago at a Fair, and they did music that I guess what sort of country, I love the song "Kiss You All Over". Those are great songs.

That's why I complain so much about today's stuff- there just isn't anything good, and there's no talented singers.

Did you guys ever hear this song by Bucky Covington....it's called "Different World"- it reminds me of the stuff we talk about on here:

I'm watching Idol right now, so here's my brief immediate thoughts...

Michael Sarver - bland song, fast lyrics don't make it interesting. I hate when contestants talk back to the judges, it comes off as ****y and historically could lose him some votes.

Alison Irehita - I don't know the song, but she did a great job. Reminded me a lot of Kelly Clarkson, with the strong but not overpowering vibrato in her voice. A definate contender. Put a blonde wig on her and she'd look like a human sized Olsen twin.

Kris Allen - Another song I don't know, it was really beautiful. A nice vulnerable performance (and haha I typed vulnerable before Paula said it). I'm glad Simon liked it

Lil Rounds - I know this has been done on this show a few times, but it never sticks in my head. Lil is better than that song. I hope her fanbase votes for her. I agree with Simon (cause he's almost always right) in that she perhaps should have R'n'B'd it up a little bit. What was the song Nelly did a couple years ago with some country singer?

Adam Lambert - Randy Travis = not impressed. I've been waiting for Adam to impress me, and he finally did. I thought he was fantastic! It had all the Adam queerness but wasn't so over the top like his "Satisfaction"or "Black or white". It left Kara "confused but happy" - I guess that means she's on whatever Paula is on!!! For once I disagree with Simon when he called it indulgent - this was Adam slightly toned down, and was much less indulgent than his previous performances which were praised for their uniqueness.

Scott McIntyre - another song I don't know. I want to see the back of Scott for the same reason I didn't like Archuletta last year - nothing against his singing, but the penchant for inspiration songs is so calculated it's a real turnoff. His singing was always OK, nothing to write home about. Too bad his cute brother wasn't there to help him on stage.

Alexis Grace - The vocals weren't perfect, but I enjoyed the performance. It was nice to see a different side to Alexis, and I enjoyed this more than Brooke White's version last year. She doesn't know what "soundalike" means?

Danny Gokey - again, like Scott McIntyre and David Archuletta, the inspirational and God songs are grating on my nerves. He's a sweet guy with a friendly personality, but I'd hate to see him take this out by cashing in on his late wife.
But he's a much better singer than Scott, and it was endearing to see him so nervous to perform in front of Randy Travis. His voice got amazing as always about halfway through, and he's so adorably handsome. I probably won't remember this performance, but I did enjoy it.

Anoop Desai - I hope he does better than last week. Wow, that was stunning. He's never shown that much power or tenderness in his voice before, it was beautiful! Definately the standout performance of the night so far. I didn't know Johnny Cash had performed this song, but my favourite version is by the Pet Shop Boys.

Megan Joy Corkrey - A good choice of song for her unusual style. She doesn't stand a chance of winning, but I like her, even last weeks "rockin' robin". Oh, I'm disappointed, she didn't go to well. She seemed on autopilot, there wasn't a lot of sassiness in there. Looks like she's sick. The judges disagree with me, which is a relief. I hope she sticks around.

Mat Giraud - another damn inspiration song by my 2nd least favorite Idol Carrie Underwood (Taylor Hicks being my most hated). Really nothing special, but I like the vibrato in his voice. Was it a short song, or did it just go nowhere? Should keep him safe, but won't earn him any new fans.

To wrap it up, the best performance of the night was Anoop, followed by Adam's Ring of Fire.

Bottom 3 predictions - it's hard to pick the who'll be in the bottom this week, but coz I have to, I'll say Alexis, Megan and Lil. If Lil is eliminated, I'm pretty sure the judges will use their "save" power to keep her in, coz she's too good to lose this early.

PS did anyone notice how obvious that weird little divot was tonight just above Paula's cleavage? I remember reading about it a few years back on plastic surgery sites. It reminds me of the little "spoon" thing the Cardassians had on their foreheads on Star Trek!
What am I on today? This must all sound so bizzare!!!

OK, just watched the results show. Sorry to see Alexis go, I liked her a lot.

It was nice to hear Carrie Underwood sing in tune for a change. For her entire season, she almost always sang sharp, it just grated on my ears so badly, and I can never forgive her for that.

Even though Carrie's song was really good, I'd still much rather listen to Kelly Clarkson. Carrie is still too robotic for my taste, Kelly has a personality, is a fun chick and puts feeling into her songs. "My life would suck without you" is an ace song, as is the entire album, especially "whyyawannabringmedown" and "Long shot".

i was very sad to see alexis go she was one of my favorite's from the start!!! michael is good but i think alexis was better myself and she wasn't boring!! i think the judges should have saved her last night? so now i will be routing for adam, allison and danny carrie's song was okay like i said before not much of a country lover at all.

Isis, I really like Bucky Convington's A Different World song. I know Carrie sang the same song w/Randy Travis when she was inducted into the Opry but I don't know if it's ever been released. I'm sorry I wasn't sad to see Alexis go. Just wasn't. Sorry.

carrie sang I TOLD YOU SO by randy travis at the opry by herself and he loved it. i see the video performance on CMT in the mornings, when i get ready for work.

they've released the song together as a duet.

beautiful song. it's also on carrie's last cd.

Next week they are doing 50 years of Motown- so it should have some good music.

My mom was saying to me about the Kayne West thing...what happened to singers like The Temptations, and all those Doo Wop songs that were good music, how could it evolve from really great stuff, to now people hear this kind of stuff and say they like it, she says she could see if it was reversed...but there use to be really good music in the 50's and the 60's, with very touching lyrics about love, and they were romantic, and put you in a good mood. That's what's goofed up with today's stuff...that Kayne songs put me in a horrible mood.

Listen to songs like "My Girl", and " Ain't to Proud to Beg", or the soundtrack to "Mischief", and you'll know what I mean about good songs.

Yeah but you say that about pretty much everything post 1989. Your not the target age audience the average hip hop star aims for. People my grandparents' age said the same thing about the kind of music you prefer........

Posted by Stitch Groover (Member # 2895) on :

I don't like Kanye's music either, but there is a lot of really good music out there, unfortunately not a lot of it makes the charts.

Jenny Lewis, Sheryl Crow, Shawn Colvin, The Bird and the Bee, The Avett Brothers.... I know you know Sheryl Crow, but I'd recommend everyone check out the others.

Lady Gaga's new album reminds me a lot of the vibe I got from Paula Abdul's "Forever your girl" album.

I remember listening to my albums back in the 80's and my folks saying how their music from the 60's and 70's was so much better. Some of it was, coz there sure was a lot of trash in the 80's.

All eras of music have their good and their bad. There's nothing wrong with being a fan of any era, neither is there anything wrong with liking music across multiple decades. Music from the 80's will always have a special place in my warmest memories, but I couldn't imagine my life if I wasn't keeping up with current music.

I just wanna say too that I did kind of like Michael Sarver as a person, but after his comment to Simon (when Simon said he didn't understand a word of the song) that "real" Americans would understand it - that was such a stupid thing to say and I'd say it lost him quite a few fans.

Now instead of thinking he was a decent, fairly talented guy, he's just shown himself to be the "roughneck" he is.

Posted by buffalo-girl (Member # 7498) on :

i must have missed that part stitch i didn't hear any of that? your right though it was not a good thing for michael to say at all!!! now i really wish they would have saved alexis lol!!

He said that "Country Folk" would understand what he was saying.

Personally I have had it up to my neck with Rednecks, and "Country Folk". So, he doesn't do nothing for me now, after acting like that.

You don't know what I meant by that...I said I personally have had it with Country Folk- and that means me personally- I have been dealing with a group of "individuals" for the past 7 years, and this past week has been a big giant pain to me and my family, because of "country folk", and it would take me probably 7 years to explain it...so if I have had it with a group of "rednecks"....then that's what I am talking about.

The dude from American Idol has nothing to do with that 1 statement...except for the fact that
I don't care for him now either for acting all
smart mouthed- which is exactly what I am sick of. I wonder why.

I think Michael could be in danger tonight. Don't think Motown will be his strong point and considering he was close to going last week it doesn't look good for him. The rest I feel with the right song could pull off a Motown song much better than him. A Scott elimination wouldn't be the worst thing either.

Sam, you may be right about Michael. Not so good.

Posted by Sammy Hain Invasion (Member # 3150) on :

Matt--'Let's Get It On' not an easy song to sing and I feel he did an admirable job. Nice beginning to the show and gives the rest something to shoot for.

Kris--'How Sweet It Is' Not bad. My favourite performance of his so far but I still don't get the overall appeal of this guy. The judges seem to like him but I'm just not feeling it. Should be safe.

Scott--'You Can't Hurry Love' Sorry but I'm getting more and more bored with him every week. I totally agree with Simon.

Megan Joy--'For Once In My Life' very disappointing performance from her. That wasn't very good. I have a bad feeling for her right now. I do have mad love for her.

Anoop--'Oooh Baby Baby' not my favourite but still pretty good

Michael--'Ain't Too Proud To Beg' The door just opened up for Megan. He was as horrible as I was expecting.

Lil--'Heatwave'disappointed in her song choice. When I heard it was Motown week I was expecting to hear Lil do a nice soul song instead of something so uptempo. Will be safe but I feel she's starting to lose some of her edge.

Adam--'Tracks Of My Tears' once again all I can say is WOW. He showed off his diversity tonight. Remarkable.

Danny--'Get Ready' It was OK but nothing special. He will be safe but he needs to step up his game.

Allison--'Papa Was A Rolling Stone' Very nice. Strong performance.

My guess for the chopping block: Michael & Megan Joy

Going Home: Michael

I had a party here tonight, and missed the beginning, I did see the recap though- but a still missed a few of them even then.

I did like Adam- he is really good looking-I liked that look he had going tonight...has anyone said if he is gay or not? My mom keeps asking me, like I should know or something-but I haven't heard for sure. I wondered if anyone knew?

I thought Lil Rounds looked awesome, I loved her hair and that dress she wore was so cute on her.
She wears really cute clothes.

Posted by kevdugp73 (Member # 5978) on :

Adam and Allison for top props.....chopping block....Michael and Megan Joy....should be Scott, but I think he'll slide through a few more rounds on some pity votes.....really hard to dislike the guy, but vocals are not strong enough...he should try a mellow Billy Joel Song..."And So It Goes", "She's Always A Woman To Me", etc...might buy him some praise.

when i laid eyes on adam tonight, i thought i was looking at elvis. adam was the best, and did a great version of tracks of my tears...totally impressed me again.

scott, michael and megan were no good. lil rounds wasn't good either, IMO. i love the song she sang though, but i agreed with the judges, when you have such a big voice, the fast paced songs don't work that great unless you can really belt them out.

kris and adam, once again were my faves.

allison did a good job too. her voice is kind of low sometimes, to the point where i can't understand some words she sings...she sounds better when lets her voice soar.

i thought anoop was ok, but not that great.
as for danny, i thought his performance was not as bad as some, but definitely nowhere near as good as others. he's slipping further each week.

matt did good too, and started the night off very well. hope he keeps it up.

did you all see olivia newton-john in the audience??? looks like another victim of plastic surgery...it doesn't suit her.

Posted by buffalo-girl (Member # 7498) on :

it's funny you should say that adam reminded you of elvis ? my mom said that to me yesterday too? he did kind of look like a young elvis last night and i thought he was excellent myself i also thought lil rounds did yell the song too!! my top three are still adam, danny and allison i thought megan was terrible and out of tune alot!!i think megan will leave tonight? anoop will last another week or so.

Watching on TV right now, so here's my immediate thoughts..

Mat Giraud - pretty good, his falsetto is fantastic.

Kris Allen - meh, kind of dull, he sang it well but it was very "musak" to me. Kara really loved it tho.

Blindy - Oh dear. I get the feeling he was only just barely remembering the words, or struggling to keep up with the tempo. He was just slightly "out" for the whole performance. I enjoyed the backup singers, I've never seen anyone on Idol (US or Oz) bring them to the fore like that.

Megan Joy - Firstly, I wanna say I really love Megan's cool style. Sweet zombie jesus Megan, what have you done? The song spends too much time in her lower register. It picks up about halfway when she's standing behind the judges, but it's not enough. Pitchy in places, not right for her voice, I hate to say I didn't like it.

Anoop Desai - very smooth. Very nice held notes, great falsetto and some nice runs. Best of the night so far.

Michael Sarver - No one can do "Ain't too proud to beg" on Idol as good as George Huff back in the day. Michael hits the notes, but the performance just didn't grab me. Maybe he just doesn't have a soul, I don't know. Paula put it right, it was kinda Vegas-y. Thanks Paula, you can be forever my girl! Michael looks a lot like my best mate too, just thought I'd share!

Lil Rounds - I always think of "Sister Act" when I hear "Heatwave". A couple of slightly bum notes early on, but lots of fun, and she looked smokin'! I enjoyed this one, this style of music really suits Lil's voice. The judges are right - we all know she can sing, but she needs to do more to hold her place in the contest.

Adam Lambert - Adam's starting to grow on me, last week was the first time I enjoyed his performance. Wow, he's so handsome with his hair like that! A beautiful performance. Heartfelt but not over the top. Another guy with a fantastic falsetto. That final note was a killer! I can't get over how good he looks. I hope he cuts his hair to show his face more.

Gokey - I must have been immunized as a kid against Gokey Fever. I do love this song, especially the version by The Proclaimers. More and more each week I'm getting a Taylor Hicks vibe from Gokey, in that he's got talent but he's a one trick pony who is inexplicably popular. He has that soulful sound to his voice, but there's no soul behind it. I'm sure he's a nice guy, but he's too clean and Christian to put some sex into his performance... I'm sure you know what I mean!

Alison Irehita - Alison has more soul at 16 than Danny has at nearly twice her age. Definately the best female performance of the night. This girl is a real contender!

This was a fun show. I loved Simon for drawing a mustache on Paula's face! Oh Olivia Newton John, what have you done to your face?

Definately safe - Anoop, Adam, Danny, Alison
Should be in bottom 3 - Blindy, Megan, Michael Sarver. However, I don't think America will put Blindy in the bottom 3 just yet (who wants to kick a blind man when he's down?), so Kris may possibly join Megan and Michael.

As much as I love her, I think it will be the end of the line for Megan. 2 bad performances in 2 weeks, plus that "Rockin Robin" performance (which I liked), I think she's used up all the goodwill she had in store.

PS ... why was it a day late this week?

Posted by pettyfan (Member # 2260) on :

It was a day late cause the pres had another media address or some such crap.

I think the bottom three should be Scott, Michael and Megan. I missed Lil's performance but my mom didn't like it either, Ronnie. She said she wasn't as good as she should've been.

My fave was, once again, Kris! Also liked Danny, Matt and Alison.

I am bummed that I missed Olivia Newton John-I have always loved her. I just watched Grease and Xanadu, and she was so pretty-even though Xanadu is so weird...she was gorgeous in that movie- I loved her clothes. She had never had plastic surgery before, but she must have broken down. She is 60. It is not fun getting older, it doesn't matter how good looking you were, you get old. I want to watch tonight and see the recap , since I missed most of it. I thought Adam looked like Elvis too.

Posted by jdocster (Member # 5752) on :

Here's mi picks for last nights winners based on the quality of there vocals...

Allison Iraheta - She is awesome!
Mat Giraud - Very good voice.
Danny Gokey - Bad song choice but still did well.
Adam Lambert - Actually wasn't bad for once. I know a lot of you really like this kid, but, I just don't get it. He usually screams in a high pitch voice that is annoying and way over the top. He is WAY over-hyped... Yes he DID look a LOT like young Elvis.

[Smile]

Matt was a surprise to be in the bottom 2. He definitely didn't deserve to be there.

Thankfully Michael is finally going home.

Hopefully it will be Scott next week. I feel his luck is running out.

I hated that song that Josh Stone and Smokey Robinson did- it was awful, he has so many good songs he could have done, that was a total mess. I never heard of her, she was terrible.

I can't believe they got Stevie Wonder to
come on as a guest.

joss stone does have a distinct voice and has collaborated with a lot of older, popular singers such as smokey. i don't buy her music, but she's got a good voice.

no surprise that michael went home, but i am shocked that scott was safe before matt was. weird.

Posted by Sammy Hain Invasion (Member # 3150) on :

IMHO Scott is receiving the sympathy vote right now because of his blindness. I don't think he can sustain that for much longer. The talent level is getting too deep.

Posted by Stitch Groover (Member # 2895) on :

Joss Stone sounded good, but the song was so dull and deathly boring!

I really love Megan Joy but I was suprised she wasn't in the bottom 3, let alone eliminated. Hopefully Blindy will be the next to go.

Posted by buffalo-girl (Member # 7498) on :

i was surprised megan wasn't in the bottom three either? i wasn't really surprised about michael going though i think scott will be gone next week too!! matt is okay and chris is okay but i will be surprised if either win in the end!!

I'm really hoping that Scott goes home this week. His act has got pretty boring and mundane

Anoop--Not digging this one at all. Not a good way to start off the show. Could be in danger.

Megan Joy--another shaky performance. So far tonight's show isn't going over so well. Also could be in danger. I want her real phone number

Danny--Definitely the best so far tonight. But still not great in my opinion. Definitely safe.

Allison--Liking this song. Might be biased because I love this song. My favourite so far for tonight. Song fit her pretty good I thought.

Scott--Awful. Great song that he butchered. Unfortunately he'll probably skate by again this week. Judges liked it though.

Matt--not crazy about this one either. Nobody is blowing me away this week. A lot of people in serious contention of being in the bottom three so far.

Lil--Lil and her big voice is BACK!!!!! I agree with the judges though that it still wasn't a good song for her. Will be safe though. She's looking hotter and hotter every week though.

Adam--Going to do 'Play That Funky Music'??? This should be a treat. Adam being Adam which is always a good thing.

Kris--finally started to get a little bit of that Kris vibe tonight that others have been having for awhile. Definitely safe.

On the chopping block: Anoop, Megan & Matt

Going home: Megan [Frown]

I actually really liked the song Anoop did-I never heard it before, I want to look it up...is it called "Twisted"...I know it was by Usher.

I think Adam is very cool....he's so energetic.

I was so irritated with the Judges, I hate when they say that was the wrong song choice...that was the song that they picked to do, and they must like it...so when they tell them...that's not you...they are labeling these people, and shouldn't they be allowed to do all different varieties of stuff?

I really liked Kris.

I thought they all did good.

Anoop-- i didn't feel it at all either. just.....no.

Megan Joy-- horrid. she just cannot pick a good song to sing to save her soul. almost every song she chooses does not work with her voice. regardless of how much they like a song, doesn't mean they can do it justice. the whole.."vote for me guys"...ya..i'm sure it's the GUYS who are voting. she needs to sing songs to better suit her voice style, otherwise she needs to go.

Danny-- i did not like his performance. haven't liked him since the beginning.

Allison-- she was ok. the song was a good choice. i don't know what more to say about her. she doesn't quite stand out but isn't bad at all.

Scott-- ..better than last week. i liked his jacket lol. i thought he did much better.

Matt-- oh my goodness that was bad. very copycat-like.

Lil-- terrible. i hated her performance. it was so pitchy and not her style one bit. she may be in trouble.

Adam-- great as always!!!

Kris-- saved the best for last baby! *sigh* loved it!

On the chopping block: Anoop, Megan & Matt (agree with ya, sam!)

Am watching now, so here's my immediate thoughts -

Anoop - was OK, nothing special, wasn't a mess as Simon thought, but wasn't superb. What was the name of that song? I'd heard it before but I don't know what it's called.

Megan - I love her and I really liked her singing this song. I do think thought that she'll be gone this week because of her performance last week.

Ugh, Gokey - how can I have gone from liking him in the auditions and semis, to hating him now? I think it's the over (fake?) sincerity. And naturally he's gone for a song he can sing with fake emotion. He sang well, but I just don't care!

Allison - a favorite of mine. The verse was really lovely, but this song has tripped a lot of good singers on Oz Idol when it gets to the chorus, and Allison started the chorus a little rough too. What's with the hair? But I like her dress, Randy!

Scott - another one I'm getting tired of, but this was really lovely. He had a few of the usual pitch problems, but overall I enjoyed it.

Matt - wow, in the audience! Kind of bland, the song didn't go anywhere.

Lil - I was worried the song might have been too big for her as she seemed to be struggling with the higher notes in the verse, but when she got to the chorus, she kicked into another gear! Great job! I agree with the judges tho about the song being a bit old fashioned.

Adam - Taylor Hicks did this song. So did Vanilla Ice. It will at least be interesting. OK, that was really fun! Adam never fails to impress!

Kris - by far the best performance of the night, he showed most of them how to sing, he showed Scott how to play the piano, and he taught Gokey how to emote convincingly!

Top 3 - Kris, Adam, Lil

Bottom 3 - Anoop, Megan (even though I love her), Matt

Eliminated - Megan

i agree with your bottom three too stitch!! i think either megan or matt will go tonight? loved adam as always and scott was okay he is pretty boring though i like allison but did not like the hair? the dress was okay i think she was going for a 80's punk look myself! kris was okay i think he was trying to be like adam and reinvent the song?? it will be interesting to see who leaves tonight?

Stitch-I posted that song Anoop did, on the last page of this thread.

It's called "Caught up". I actually kind of like it.

I thought they picked on Allison's clothes too much...

Don't they have stylists who help them with their wardrobes?

Posted by ISIS (Member # 1780) on :

I liked them singing "Don't Stop Believin".

Who is Lady Gaga, and where did she come from, because just in the past 2 weeks is the first I ever heard of her, and tonight's the first time I ever saw her sing, and none of us understood a word she said except something about a poker face, but the rest of that was a nightmare.
I thought it was awful.

Megan is a goner- I thought she was adorable, she was always smiling and upbeat.

I am surprised that Anoop out lasted her.

Lady GaGa looks like she tries to incorporate a lot of different styles into her music and stage show. The beginning of the song sounded very jazzy but also looks like she's very much into theatrics.

I've never been too much into the group singing performances they always seemed too forced. But can never go wrong with Don't Stop beleivin'

I picked two of the bottom three correctly. I had both Anoop and Megan there. Even though I felt Allison didn't belong down there it didn't fully surprise me either as two weeks ago I thought she gave a strong performance and ended up in the bottom three. Just don't think she's connecting with the voting public the way she should be.

There was so much to like about Megan I really liked her and her singing style but she kept choosing really bad songs which ultimately led to her demise. I think deep down she was ready to go home.

I thought it was interesting when Ryan asked Simon how many of the bottom three they would consider saving and he replied only one. My guess is that he was talking about Allison and that Anoop would have been going home if he was the bottom vote getter.

Lagy Gaga is absolutely massive right now! I love her album. She's very artistic, and is right into performance art along with her music.

Isis, you might like her new single, "(Eh Eh) Nothing else I can say", it has a really cool 80's vibe to it.

As much as I love her, I'm not suprised Megan was eliminated, and it looked like she was very relieved to be gone. I love her unique voice, but she really did have a tough time picking the right song, and she didn't pick a suitable song for herself since "Black horse and the cherry tree".

Sammy, I agree that Simon was talking about Allison when he said they would consider saving one person. Allison was too good to be in the Bottom 3, based on performance it should have been Matt.

i agree with you stitch i too thought matt should have been in the bottom three this week and i knew allsion would be safe too!! i agree megan just picked the wrong songs too but i don't think she did care like she stated last night i think she knew she was going home and was glad to go home to her baby too!! i thought lady gaga was okay i have heard better songs from her though i loved david cook's song i have that cd and it is great!! glad to see he is doing so well as i voted for him last season lol i think anoop or matt will be going home next week but probably anoop before matt dee

Hated Lady Ga Ga's performance. Ugh. I am SO GLAD Megan is gone!! I hated her voice and thought she was a bit of a smart azz at times. I'm very glad Simon told her since she didn't care neither did they. So next week is birth year songs. Those are ususally pretty good. And I agree with Buffalogirl--I think Anoop will go before Matt.

lady gaga is awesome.
i don't think she had the best performance last night, but i do love it when she plays piano and she actually has a voice, plus writes music. she's definitely different and a bit egotistical and i like that.

my goodness i couldn't stand watching megan last night. it was like she tried too hard to show that she "didn't care." she's pretty, and has a good voice, but only for specific types of music, i guess. she can't perform and when she tries to dance it's embarrassing. so glad she's gone, ..good riddance honey!
i kind of thought it was a disrespect to the show and simon when she said she didn't care. they put her in there and to act like that is absurd. i'm glad simon told her the same thing back.

their group performances and their ford commercials are so lame and cheesy,..can't stand them. aren't they lip syncing those group songs? it sure looks like it.

i was glad to see david cook. he looked good and sang great. [Smile]

Thing that sucks about David Cook though is he was supposed to be this big rocker but now he's performing generic whimp music.

What we need is for Adam to win so we'll have a winner who seems to not be the type to conform to the same old same old.

Scott or Anoop needs to go next.

Posted by buffalo-girl (Member # 7498) on :

ronnie i agree with you 100% about megan she acted childish last night in my opinion and it was not called for at all!! i also agree anoop or scott or matt should go next week anyone will do out of the 3 lol!

I like Matt. He can stick around for a few more weeks.

Posted by pettyfan (Member # 2260) on :

I'm back and forth on Adam. Some nights I really like him and some I don't. I like Matt, too. He's not my favorite or anything but I think he's pretty good.

I've been watching American Idol faithfully from the beginning (it's almost as good as Canadian Idol) * kidding...it's way better. Anywho....I rarely watch the results show...I've always found the group singing to be painful...so I typically check the net later in the evening to see who got the boot. Sorry to say ladies....looking more and more like a man's game...can't imagine any of these girls wining...though I could handle Allison wining...Lil is too much of the same ol same ol. Birth years next week...so we may get to see some 80's classics.....

I think Meagen was burned out, and wanted to see her little boy. I don't understand why her family didn't bring him there for her, because Lil's entire family was sitting there, night after night.

I don't know why Lady Gaga is an egomaniac, I think she's really unattractive, and her moves are a mess, the only thing she had going on that was cool, was her piano full of plastic balls- or whatever they were. The song was awful.

Posted by Ronnie (Member # 465) on :

as far as i'm concerned, they could do triple elimination next week with scott, anoop and lil rounds. [Smile]

Posted by kevdugp73 (Member # 5978) on :

Ditto Ronnie...it's kinda like...they might as well do it and get it over with...if any of those three actually became the next American Idol...I'd barf...then never watch again....and boycott the radiio for three months...which is as long as either of their careers would last! All seem like nice people though.....

Songs from the year the contestants were born

Danny--1980 "Stand By Me" interesting version. Put his own twist on it and like the judges said I thought it worked pretty well. No matter what else happens tonight he will be safe.

Kris--1985 "All She Wants To Do Is Dance" One word: Horrible. First candidate for the chopping block

Lil--1984 "What's Love Got To Do With It" Once again my pre-finals favourite fails to deliver. I was really expecting bigger and better things from her. Could possibly be in trouble.

Anoop--1986 "True Colours" Another clunker. Nobody is really stepping up their game tonight. Also could be in trouble. The judges seemed to like him though

Scott--1985 "The Search Is Over" Wow Scott sings another ballad; what a surprise. He's not getting any better. For as bad as the others have been at least they weren't this bad. Time for him to go home.

Allison--1992 "I Can't Make You Love Me" IMHO the best so far tonight. Showed a different side to her not her usual rocker girl and it worked very well.

Matt--1985 "Part Time Lover" Very Very good. Interesting arrangement. Always worried with him though as he has been on the chopping block in the past for giving good performances. Same with Allison.

Adam--1982 "Mad World" That was simply incredible. Just give him the championship now. Nobody can touch this guy.

On the chopping block: Kris, Lil, Scott (Matt and/or Allison could be here also because both have been here before and not deserving it)

Going Home: Scott PLEASE!!!!!

I guess a lot of people missed Adam's performance tonight because the show ran five minutes late so their DVR's didn't record his amazing performance.

For those who missed Tears For Fears 'Mad World' as sung by Adam Lambert here it is

Time once again for my live review - but first, who the hell is that creepy bald guy in the audience? He freaks me out!!

Gokey - How can he get away with doing a 50's song when he was born in 1980? He shouldn't have been allowed to do a cover. I just want him to leave.

Kris - A cool interpretation of the song, it sounds like a Stevie song. I kind of disagree with Kara about it losing it's youth, that kind of percussion has been fairly popular over the last few years (Amerie's "1 Thing", Ricki Lee's "Can't sing a different song"). I also agree with Randy, that the instrumentation overshadowed Kris.

Little Rounds - Sexy! Sultry! Probably her best performance. If you compare Lil to the diva' of Idol past (LaKisha, Melinda, Jennifer, LaToya, even Vonzell) she hasn't really come up to scratch in the last few weeks, but I hope this is the start of something great.

Noop Dogg - He's always good when he does a ballad, and I'm not suprised after last week that he's gone back to a ballad. This was OK, not bad but not as good as "Always on my mind" or "Ooh baby baby".

Scott - or is it? I don't recognise that man without a piano. Offkey, creepy staring, embarassing to listen to, and the song is awful. Time to go.

Allison - I love this song, I even liked it when Constantine sang it. For a 16 year old, she brings so much emotion to her songs. Who'd have thought someone so young could sing this song so convincingly? Definately the highlight of the night so far.

Matt - Remember when Kevin "Chicken Little" Covais sang this song? Well, this was so much better. I think this exemplifies what Paula was talking about earlier, about arrangements - it was jazzy, like Kris's song, but Matt wasn't overshadowed by it.

Adam - Simply stunning. I'm glad he reigned it in for once, he needed to show a different side.

This song was done on Australian Idol in 2007 during semi finals week by a 16 year old named Ben McKenzie, his version was very different to Adams, but it was very haunting-

Mad World, Australian Idol

OK, so bottom 3 -

Scott
Lil
Kris

Should go - Scott

Will go - Scott. I think the novelty is over and he can't hide behind his disability when the talent is no longer good enough.

last night i only liked allison and adam i thought chris was okay but nothing great, scott is just boring now and lil just tried too hard to be tina nice voice but not original. my two fave's are allison and adam i am hoping either of these will win! i think either scott or anoop will go home tonight!

Posted by ISIS (Member # 1780) on :

I was totally disappointed with the song choices, since alot of them were from the mid 80s- which it's hard for me to believe that those kids were born the year I graduated high school. I loved Adam singing Mad World, I knew I knew that song, but it was so different...it was very cool. He should win, he's so unique.

I never liked the songs Part Time Lover or All She wants to Do is Dance- when they were out in the 80s- I would say those are 2 of the most annoying songs that I could think up from the 80s.

I liked Lil Rounds doing the little Tina Turner dance moves- it was very deja vuish.

wow what a bad night.

i hardly liked any of those performances.
and i missed adam's song because of the overtime, my dvr cut it off. i was miffed. (thanks for posting a link to the song, sam, i will check it out in a few)

gotta say, i was surprised by their song choices. i thought it was cool how most of them picked songs that weren't heavily played-out & popular so it made it interesting.

Danny-- wow that was yucky and annoying. each week he becomes more mediocre and his voice drives me nuts - still don't like him!

Kris-- love the song he chose, but he could have pepped it up, times 1,000. i agree with randy, the arrangement definitely overpowered him. and simon was correct as well, it came off over indulgent. bad week for kris [Frown] . but i doubt he's in the bottom 3.

Lil-- horrible once again. i cannot believe she was trying to be tina..what the heck was she thinking? simon was 100% right about her, she's not showing us who SHE is..

Anoop-- i hated his version of true colors. i don't get what the judges heard on this. he bores me to death. he too, can go home already.

Scott-- please go home.

Allison-- love the song she sang and she sang it ok, it wasn't knock out stuff or anything. but just ok.

Matt-- he impressed me. his version of part time lover was great, it was the best performance i saw.

Adam-- i didn't get to see him live, but i will go watch him now.

oh my.. that was great!!!!

way to go adam, he got a standing o from simon!!

Danny - Did a good job as always singing Stand By Me.

Kris - Not great but not as terrible as the judges said it was.

Lil - Completely ruined that song.

Anoop - Not bad. I didn't think he did as well as the judges did.

Scott - Terrible...

Allison - Awesome voice.

Matt - Did a really good job.

Adam - I just don't get this guys appeal at all. I think he sucks. Everything is in falsetto all of the time.

Scott will leave the show...

Posted by jdocster (Member # 5752) on :

I just don't think he has any talent. Every fricken' song is a high pitch scream...

Not that I give a crap but he is definitely gay. My brother who is gay told me there are pictures of him all over the internet making out with guys. Hey, it's your life and nobodys business what you do with it. Not too bright posting pictures if you want to build a fan base of screaming little 12 year old teenyboppers...

Lil was awful. She needs to go- even her screaming parts are off-key.
Scott- "creepy staring"? He is BLIND!
He sounds like a contemporary Christian singer to me.

I have watched that You Tube clip of Adam several times, I like it. I think that was a very cool way to sing that song for this day and age- because this is a Mad World, and I thought the lyrics were kind of haunting and creepy.

I didn't like Danny Gokey's version of Stand by Me.

In the beginning I liked him and Lil, but I actually like Kris better than both of them- Kris is the kind of guy that is missing in the world, he's very cute and is very polite, and seems like a nice guy- and he has hair!

Posted by Stitch Groover (Member # 2895) on :

I'm so glad I'm not the only one who's over Scott. I was worried that his disability would blind everyone (pardon the pun) to his lack of talent, but it's a relief that so many people don't like him purely because of his boring singing, just like they would any other contestant!

Posted by pettyfan (Member # 2260) on :

Yes, Isis, Kris is very cute. Very, very, very. [Smile] [Smile]

Pitt, you're right--I think Scott would make a good Contemporary Christian singer.

I've often wondered about the Adam being gay thing too. But like Sam I don't care enough to go searching for videos.

I'm still loyal to Kris, even if he didn't do all that great last night. I still voted a bunch of times.

I really liked Lil in the beginning, but now I just don't know...

jumping ahead but as of right now I'm hoping for an Adam & Allison final two they're the only two that seem unique to me where the others all seem way too generic and cookie-cutterish.

That group song was just painful to watch

I actually liked that song Flo Rida sang

I never realized just how 'lil' Lil is until she was standing between Anoop & Scott. But dang she has a smokin body.

Posted by ISIS (Member # 1780) on :

That Flo Rida song was awful. I couldn't understand a darn word they said...it reminded me of the people in King Kong (the 70s Version) singing in some foreign language...it was a bunch of mumbo jumbo...I hated it...the girl sang...you spin me round round, when you go down down.....what did that mean??

It sounded gross to me.

Then when he started talking, he sounded like an idiot. Yet, he's being paid. Whatever.

I thought Scott sounded better tonight than last night. I was shocked to see Lil over Allison in the bottom. I am sure they would have saved her.

Anoop needs to go home next week

I personally feel that the judges would use the save for everybody left in the competiotn with the exception of Annop. Not saying they would necessarily use it but I feel everybody but Anoop would have a chance of being saved.

Posted by buffalo-girl (Member # 7498) on :

i knew scott would go home last night before anoop but i do think anoop will go home next week and i knew simon would not use the save for scott too paula and kara wanted to but randy and simon didn't? i still think allison or adam will win in the end they are the two strongest voices left i don't think lil will win because of fantasia winning they basically sound the same but i could be wrong who knows? oh and i didn't like either performances last night sorry never did like kelly pickerell and the other uh singer not my kind of music???!!! dee [Roll Eyes]

Posted by Stitch Groover (Member # 2895) on :

The group song was terrible, way to ruin a classic song! The arrangement was too fast, and a few of the singers (definately Lil at one point) hit some bum notes - I guess there's no debate this week about lip synching!

Glad to see Scott go, nice guy but the weakest singer of the final 8. Anoop should be the next to go, followed by Matt, Lil, Kris and Gokey... leaving Adam and Allison in the final two.

Posted by ISIS (Member # 1780) on :

I don't think Allison will make it to the final two. She has been in the bottom already. I think Danny will be the one against Adam.

I liked Flo Rida too. I like his song In the Ayer better though.

I like Alison, but I don't think she's "popular" enough to make it to the top two. She does have a good voice. I think the top two will be Adam and Danny (though I hope and wish fervently for that cutie Kris [Wink] ).

Posted by Ronnie (Member # 465) on :

haha i don't know what kara and paula were doing trying to convince simon to keep scott in the competition???? that was so dumb.

again with the horrid group songs..i wish they'd quit. those are embarrassing to watch.

gotta say.. allison is a tad boring to me as well. she does nothing for me. her voice is good and she sings ok, but i'm not a fan at all.
i hope it's not her in the final two.

i would like to see kris and adam in the final. to me, they have the best voices, arrangement of songs (as far as variety goes) and know how to perform.

i know people like danny here, and i have no idea why lol. just like jdoc doesn't like adam or see the appeal... that's how i feel about danny.

matt is up in the air for me. 1 week he does great, then he falls apart the next. so he isn't really consistent.

lil and anoop are hanging on by threads. anoop has a good voice, he just isn't smoothe at all.
and his song choices are awful.
lil can sing when her voice gets high, but my gosh, is she pitchy all over the place. every song she sings, is up and down, as if she doesn't know what tone to sing in.
sorry, but she should go.

scott is all over the news here in phoenix. my sister in law actually knows him (she is legally blind as well). but everyone here is waiting to interview him and keeps talking about how great a voice he has and how upset they are that he's gone. ooooooooook.

haha petty, though i like kris as a singer, he is so adorbale to look at.
my husband cringes when he sings, cause there i sit, swooning! [Big Grin]

I hear ya Ronnie... What I do is turn my back to the TV and "listen" to the quality of the singers vocals. You should all try doing this. You might be surprised how your opinion changes.... For me Adam either screams or sings in "falsetto" all of the time. I know you guys love him, and, good for you, but I just don't see it. [Wink]

i wonder what the song choices will be. i was reading the american idol website and people were saying that certain songs should just be off limits - I WILL ALWAYS LOVE YOU, by whitney houston
- MY HEART WILL GO ON by celine dion

i kind of agree with that. i hope they get creative.

Posted by kevdugp73 (Member # 5978) on :

I agree re songs off limits...seem to hear the same songs from year to year...same ol same ol. I wonder what options they have when choosing songs...and are poor choices sometimes reflective of poor options? I also hate when they make the contestants sing crap they don't like....yeah...they can get creative with some stuff....but why not let them do what they do best...songs they love and want to sing. More specifically, I dislike when they have theme nights that just arn't cool...like...Barry Manilow night! Now don't get me wrong....I'll shamefully admitt that I like some of Manilow's classics....but only when he sings them. Hopefully we'll see some 80's movies spotlighted....

Very intrigued by them having Quentin Tarantino as the mentor this week. He definitely knows the right songs to use in his movies, it's like his songs are actual characters in the movie instead of being just in the background.

Allison--"I Don't Want To Miss A Thing" another solid solid performance from her. This girl should be a serious contender just not sure she has connected totally with the voting public yet.

Anoop--"Everything I Do I Do For You" another boring predictable song from him, lets see how he does. Not bad but just more of the same. Hopefully will be in the bottom

Adam--"Born To Be Wild" Back to his rocker ways!!! Pure 100% Energy!!!! The guy never ceases to amaze. He always seems to pull something amazing out of thin air out of every song that just leaves me with my mouth wide open.

Matt--"Have You Ever Really Loved A Woman" The Bryan Adams songs aren't being too kind to the competitors. Very boring and ordinary performance. Probably will be in the bottom three again.

Danny--"Endless Love" I didn't really feel the passion that should be associated with this song. I feel this was a misstep for him. But so far it seems that he can do no wrong in the voters eyes. Should still be safe but I feel his momentum is slipping.

Kris--"Falling Slowly" zzzzzzzzzzzz. This song did nothing for me. Could be on the chopping block.

Lil--"The Rose" this is brutal. I think it's time for one of my early favourites to go home. Most disappointing contestant of the season.

On The Chopping Block: Anoop, Matt & Lil

Going Home: Lil

Posted by kevdugp73 (Member # 5978) on :

Allison - one of my favs, but I felt she was out of key. Singing a song that I'm really sick of hearing.

Anoop - not a fav of mine...but I thought his vocals were pretty good

Adam - cool as usual

Matt - not a fan

Danny - OK

Kris - gotta disagree with Randy...and Sam...I love this song and I thought he did a great job

Lil - disappointing as usual

I agree with Sam's chopping block. In order...I'd like to see Lil go, then Anoop, then Matt.

Our top three will be Adam, Allison, and Kris

Posted by pettyfan (Member # 2260) on :

Ya know, I was hoping Lil would do the song Not Gon' Cry (Mary J. Blige) from the movie Waiting to Exhale. That would've been a good song for her. I really like The Rose, but I thought she was pretty pitchy throughout. And what was up with Paula's critique of her? She never made any kind of comment about how she sang the song. I agree, Sam, she's become a big disappointment. Now for the other contestants...

Alison--good job I thought. I could see her going to at least the top three, but I don't think the public likes her too much.

Anoop--my mom liked him, but I thought he was just okay--kinda boring actually.

Adam--meh, he's okay I guess. He's a lil too theatrical for me.

Danny--I liked it, thought he did a good job. I think the song was pretty personal for him.

Matt--meh, okay I guess. Could've been better.

Kris--sigh...wonderful as usual!!!!!!! I had never heard the song but I thought it was really beautiful. Of course, I think I would like him if he got up there and sang his ABCs...

My favorite was Kris, I liked that song-I had never heard of it ever.

Quentin Tarantino is really a strange person, I have never watched any of his movies...there is absolutely nothing appealing about any of them to me, there is nothing he did tonight that made any sense when it came to giving direction on what to do with the song...anybody could have said and done what he did.

Just because he directed movies, how did that make him know anything about music, he didn't write the songs for his movies or sing any of them.

good job on having tarantino as the mentor! i love his song selections in movies. i was listening to my death proof soundtrack today..he's brilliant.

Allison - yuck. perhaps it's time for her to do a PINK song or something. i don't like her and i didn't like her performance tonight.

Anoop - (agree with you sam).. more of the same. but he was better tonight.

Adam - awesome as always. i want to be at his show!!

Matt - so so...

Danny - didn't like his performance... yet again.

Kris - i don't recall hearing this song but it was nice.. i loved it and him lol *heartbeat*

Lil - horrible. tarantino told her to not make the switch so obvious in the middle of the song when she goes gospel. she didn't listen one bit! he called it perfectly.
i love THE ROSE.. beautiful song, and she jacked it up.
she must go.

sammy, what's the new job?! write me back! [Smile]

you know, the just totally flew through tonight's show. why did they even add the 4th judge again? they are going over the time slots and rushing through everything lately... the "judging" is a big part of this show and they are cutting us short now, yet manage to rape us with commercials... grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Actually I'm working two part time jobs at the moment

In late February i started working at Auntie Anne's a pretzel making kiosk in the mall which i don't really like. Not enough hours, not that great of pay and no possibility for advancement but it's very convenient for me to get too.

On Sunday I started working at KMart as a cashier. Right now it actually pays less than my other job and I do have to take the bus to get there but I feel that in the long run it will be a much better job that has more chances to make more money and to advance plus I will get more hours. So Kmart I made my primary job and will only work at the pretzel place sparingly.

i thought most of them were the same old thing tonight and boring boring boring!!!! i think lil or anoop will go home then matt next week kris is okay but he won't win in the end it will be between adam and allison i thought danny screwed up his song alot last night although i do like him he will probably not last too much longer either i wish they would let them sing newer upbeat songs too so sick of these old love songs every season getting old real fast!!!

Time for my usual live review from the couch!

Allison - this is a song that can be a disaster, I hope she brings it. I love the verse, I've never heard it sung so tenderly. But the chorus is the true test of this song, and overall she did it pretty well. She was definately feeling it, and although I heard at least one bum note at the end of the bridge, she recovered quickly.
Consistancy is Allison's biggest weapon in this contest.

Anoop - another song that's hard to pull off, it's so connected to Bryan Adams, I've never heard anyone sing this on Idol. Anoop has definately learnt that he is safest with ballads. And he did another good job, I liked it. I liked the arrangement, and Anoop put a lot of feeling into it. I was thinking all week that it's Anoop's turn to go this week, but he may have just saved himself.

Adam - OK, the moment I've been waiting for! OMG I couldn't take my eyes of the screen!!!! This guy rules!!!! Lots of exclamation marks!!!! Adam can do no wrong, another brilliant performance. I wasn't feeling Adam during Hollywood week and the semi final, but he's totally killing the competition for me now. I'm still predicting my Adam/Allison final 2. I don't think Adam would be upset by Simon's comment about the Rocky Horror Picture Show, considering his theatre background.

Matt - Getting the show back on the power ballad train... this started pretty well, yet another song where it's vital to show you're feeling it, but it got messed up a little in the bridge and he even hit some bum notes. Ha, Randy just said the same thing! While not a bad performance, it' the weakest of the night so far.

Danny - wow, I thought the producers would give him the pimp spot (final performance) to drum up support for him against Adam. Only 5 times in American Idol history has the performer in the pimp spot been in the bottom 3, and only once has that performer been eliminated (Anthony Federov in Final Four week, back in Season 4.) Anyhoo, back to Gokey. Endless Love. Please shoot me now. I even hated when Mariah sang this song, and I love Mariah. OK, was thankfully light on cheese, but I agree with Simon, it's nice to hear some criticism aimed at him.

Kris - this is a beautiful song, it won best song at last year's Oscars. That was really beautiful. I don't get why Randy didn't feel it, I definately didn't think it was pitchy at all. His best performance of the season.

Lil - I often performed this song at weddings, it as a popular choice for the signing of the registry. I'm glad Quentin suggested adding more gospel to it, I think it really suited it well. Lil has been slipping each week, promising to "bring it" the next week, but I have a feeling we've seen the best of her. Not her best performance, not her worst, but she isn't growing and won't last much longer, sadly.

Best of the night - Kris, Adam, Allison

Bottom 3 - Lil, Matt, I can't pick a 3rd everyone else was too good!

Should go - I've been saying all week that now that Scott's gone, it's time for Anoop to go. But, after tonight I have a feeling it will be Lil

OK, now I can read all you guys' comments, I don't read them before I watch the show.

next week, they are doing disco numbers! paula said there will be no mentor, but she is going to choreograph the dance moves for the tuesday and wednesdays shows. i don't know what she meant exactly. i only heard her talking this morning, on phx morning radio talk show, which she calls in to regularly.

Posted by Pittsburghgirl (Member # 7514) on :

I thought Lil totally sucked. I hope she goes home. She absolutely ruined one of the greatest songs ever by going "gospel". She had no business singing that song.
Whew, Paula is going to choreograph? I just hope she stays of the pills long enough to be coherent, ha,ha!

Oh, I almost forgot:
Congratulations to Ronnie on getting married!
and Congratulations to Sammy Hain for finding two new jobs! I used to love those pretzels, but I rarely go to the mall anymore. The little girl I used to babysit loved the cinnamon sugar pretzels-yum. [Smile] [Smile]

LOL, Pitt.

I think Lil has about ran her course on the show. Tarantino told her not to go gospel and she did it anyway. She needs to shape up or ship out.

Surprised that Lil wasn't the bottom vote getter and just a little less surprised that they used the save on Matt. I did feel that Matt was a lot better tonight when his butt was on the line then he performed last night.

Now that means two people are going home next week. Disco week. I think this bodes for another interesting performance from Adam.

Posted by Ronnie (Member # 465) on :

lil should have gone home.. without the save.

i figured they would save matt.

much better job on the commercial and group song.

I was just thinking about who could do good and who could do bad during Disco week. The two that I think that could struggle the most with disco songs would be Anoop and Kris.

Posted by buffalo-girl (Member # 7498) on :

i agree i think anoop and kris will have a tough time next week singing disco!! i was very surprised they used the save on matt myself?? i still think lil and anoop will be gone next week though i did like miley's song but her hair was a mess lol!! i can't wait to hear adam sing disco next week should be interesting!!

Posted by Ronnie (Member # 465) on :

i don't think kris has trouble "singing" anything. his voice is really good. but i am worried about his arrangement and song choice... i still can't wait to see him. [Wink]

however, i think anoop will definitely have a hard time after seeing his weekly ballad performances. he really needs to mix it up now.

I can't wait for Disco week, I love Disco.

Does anyone think they will hear some Bee Gees?

Lil should sing -I will Survive- Gloria Gaynor

Adam should sing- Le Freak-Chic

Kris could sing some Andy Gibb stuff-like Shadow Dancing (Is that Disco?)

Posted by pettyfan (Member # 2260) on :

I can't wait to "see" Kris either, Ronnie. [Big Grin]

I agree that Lil should've gone home last night. I really, really think it's time for her to go.

Lil--"I'm Every Woman" another trainwreck from her. If she can't pull off a disco song she won't pull anything off. Horribe. Goodbye. Go Home.

Kris--"She Works Hard For The Money" Interesting arrangement. I like the fact that he took a chance and tried to be original. Still not a huge fan of his but should be safe barring a stand out performance from everybody else that's left.

Danny--"September" not that bad but it sounds like everything else he's done up to this point. Will still be safe.

Allison--"Hot Stuff" like how she made a disco song into a rockin song. Not her strongest performance. Still not sure how strong her fanbase is. Hopefully will be safe. I like how Simon has really been Pimpin her the past couple weeks. I think it's becoming obvious he wants her in the final 2 with Adam.

Adam--"If I Can't Have You" another brilliant vocal performance and once again a very interesting arrangement. Slowing down a fast paced disco classic to a snails pace. Once again hits a homerun. DUH Randy, way to say what everybody has known since day one. He's been ready from the beginning.

LINE OF THE NIGHT from Ryan: Adam you melted Paula into a pool of Abdul...lol

Matt--"Stayin' Alive" not really feeling it. I was expecting more from him on disco night. Sorry Matt you are in danger. Worse than Lil if that was possible. Makes you really think they wasted that save last week.

Anoop--"Dim All The Lights" not bad at all. But doesn't do anything new. Should be safe being he was in the 'Pimp Spot"

On the cutting block--Lil, Matt, Anoop

Going Home--Matt & Lil being a double boot

I missed Lil, but I saw her in the recap-I thought that was a good song choice for her.

I loved Kris...I wouldn't mind seeing him win it, I think he is adorable, and he reminds me of the guys of the 80s, because he has that clean cut look, and cute face, and nice hair, and he's built nice and dresses nice.

I actually though Anoop did pretty good, his voice never seems like it goes with him...but he's a good singer, I loved the pink shirt-I thought he looked very "80s".

I thought the song "Hot Stuff" was way too mature for Allison, she's only 16, and I just thought it was not meant for someone that young to be singing the lyrics to that song.

I didn't mind Matt singing Stayin Alive.

I love the song "September"- it's an awesome song, so I really liked that Danny picked it.

I thought that part way through "If I can't have you" that Adam would pick up the tempo a little more, but he didn't-I liked it, but I wouldn't have bawled over it.

Lil-- i missed her singing... probably didn't miss much, anyway.

Kris-- he totally wowed me with his version of this song. i love the original and i love what he did with it, great job! he's such a cutie pie [Embarrassed] .

Danny-- he sang one of my least favorite songs from one of my favorite groups. it was ok, i guess. he's not smooth like adam and kris at all. and one of those, who when he sings, he has to be in a louder pitch in order to sound good. otherwise he's pitchy.

Allison-- same thing with her.. she has to sing loud in order to sound ok. i don't like her voice. i don't want her in the bottom 2. she's boring, to me.

Adam-- ..another amazing job.

Matt-- it was ok, not mind blowing but i didn't hate.

Anoop-- meh...go home.

if matt goes home, what a waste the save was.

Posted by buffalo-girl (Member # 7498) on :

lil was okay nothing great i didn't like anoop's song or kris's sorry just my opinion matt was okay him and anoop bore me actually they sing the same way every week i thought matt was a waste of a save last week myself! i would be surprised if anoop and matt don;t both go home tonight? danny was good and so was allison i think she should have picked a different song myself? adam was the best in my opinion he is the only one that is not boring!!

Posted by pettyfan (Member # 2260) on :

LOL, sorry, Ronnie!

I love the song September (after all, it was played in my favorite movie--The Ringer!!) BUT I didn't so much like Danny's version.

I actually liked Adam tonight. Go figure.

Lil--better than last week but still not great. Needs to go.

Kris--gorgeous, hot, sexy, good arrangement, hope all my votes count [Big Grin]

Matt--love the song, didn't love him

Anoop--meh, time's up, Anoop

Allison--I liked it--she did a good job

The Disco Medley was a little weird...I don't think of the song "Band of Gold" as being Disco, I thought it was from the 60s....she was totally off key.

I liked seeing KC and the Sunshine Band- I always loved their music.

You could tell that the Group song that Paula Choreographed was totally lip synced.

It's probably pretty common for a woman of 63 years old to not have the same voice as she did almost 40 years ago.

The group songs are always lip synched pretty bad

I missed the episode last night, so my live review comes from today's 2pm repeat -

Lil - so disappointing. Time for her to go I think. Lil's voice is just not powerful enough, as she's shown over the last few weeks but never more than in this performance. Poor Lil, she looked so sad (or perhaps a bit sulky). I do think that she would have been criticized if she had changed the arrangement, coz the judges do like to say that you shouldn't mess with a classic.

Kris - I'm suprised to see him with an acoustic guitar for Disco week. Oh, he's not doing it disco style... I like it. I never realised how the verse of this song sounds so similar to the verse of "You're so vain". I think Kris has cemented his place in the contest with this performance, and it should seperate him from Matt Giraud. PS, what's up with Randy trying to horn in on Kara, they always take turns starting the critique.

Gokey - that first roaring note made me finally realise the truth. Gokey is Taylor Hicks. A good singer, but no personality other than the annoying. I hate Gokey so much that I can't give an honest opinion on his performances anymore. Although, I loved how the smug look on his face disappeared with the slightest bit of criticism from Simon. HAHAHAHA!!!!

Alison - I was really worried leading up to Disco night about how Alison would go, but I needn't have bothered. This performance was hot! I loved the slower tempo, it gave it a cool bluesy feeling, just sexy enough without being inappropriate for a 16 year old. I'm suprised the judges didn't like the arrangement, but I'm glad they praised her vocals. She's still MY Alison.

Adam - Wow, that was so different to what I expected. So beautiful. I love this song and the changes to the chord sequences that Adam made were fascinating. He looks so much better with his hair out of his face, he looks so handsome!

Matt - looking more like Timberlake than ever before. This is pretty good, it's not too similar to the original arrangement, his falsetto is great, his dance moves are pretty cool. He is falling away from Kris though, I'm not sure if he's got the fan base anymore to save him this week.

Anoop - he's learnt his lesson to sing to his strengths, but there are only so many weeks in a row that he can sing a ballad. OK, finally a tempo change. I don't know the song but I like it. His voice is really strong tonight (except for the last note), and he looks terrific. He's really turned it around in the last few weeks, from everyone considering him to be the next to go, to become a strong contender for the final 4.

Best of the night - Alison, Adam, Kris

Bottom 3 - Lil, Matt, Anoop (even tho I think Gokey was one of the weakest of the night)

Will go - Lil, Matt

Should go - Lil, Matt

Awww, I'm sad to see Lil and Anoop go. But it was definately time.

The lip synching was more obvious than ever tonight, but since the debacle of "Can't get you out of my head" the other week, I'm glad they mime the group song!

i thought it was great seeing kc and the other's last night still sounded pretty good to me considering their age and all!! no surprise with lil going home or anoop for that matter !! sorry but i thought they were boring myself! i still think it will be between adam or allison or kris only because so many people like kris?? dee

Can't say I'm too sad to see Lil and Anoop go. Lil had far more potential I think. I liked Alison Tuesday night. I think she just doesn't have a big fan base. Much as I love Kris I still think it's gonna come down to Adam and Danny. Anyone know if they're doing Idol Gives Back this year?

Allison has been in the bottom three on three different occasions and didn't deserve to be there any of those times. For some reason she hasn't connected with the voters. I feel that other than Adam she's been the most consistent performer week in and week out.

Without knowing the theme for next week I'd say Matt & Allison are in the most danger of leaving due to the fact that none of the other three have been in the bottom three yet.

Personally I hope Danny goes next with Matt going the next week. Kris can finish third then Adam can beat Allison for the title

Posted by Siouxsie Sam and the Hainshees (Member # 3150) on :

I just read that next week's theme appears to be music from the Rat Pack. That means Dean, Frank & Sammy. I'd say Kris, Matt and Adam could do well at this. Unfortunately it could prove to be a tough week for Allison.

Posted by Ronnie (Member # 465) on :

i just heard that the theme for next week is BIG BAND. how awesome! paula wouldn't say who the mentor was... the radio hosts were trying to figure it out..they guessed harry connick jr., brian setzer.. michael buble. i can't wait to see it.

i'm sad that i missed last night's episode. after work, i had to rush back out to meet a friend in need. and i forgot to set the recorder!

so i read that lil and anoop went home? i figured it was out of them two, and matt.

i too love kris, but don't know if he will make it in the finals. i don't like allison but have a feeling she will be the one to go up against adam. if so, i hope adam wins. i don't like allison's voice at all.

A little late due to work. Just watching my recording of the show and as always will give my on the spot critiquing.

Rat Pack/Big Band Standards is the theme. The mystery mentor is Jamie Foxx

Kris--"The Way You Look Tonight" not bad at all. Pretty solid performance. His fanbase will be very happy. He set the bar pretty high for the other four contestants tonight. I have a feeling he'll be another Elliot Yamin will probably finish number 3.

Allison--Happy Belated 17th Birthday to my rocker girl; ""Someone Who Watched Over Me" Was worried about her doing this kind of music but I thought she sounded incredible. This girl can sure bring it.

Matt--"My Funny Valentine" not feeling this at all. So far IMHO the worst of the evening. Should be in the bottom two?/three? Might be his time to go. Pretty weird week so far; usually I agree with Simon's opinion but tonight we're disagreeing quite a bit. Maybe a lot has to do with the fact I'm not too familliar with this kind of music

Danny--"Come Rain Or Come Shine" Unfortunately I thought it was pretty decent. I'm waiting for this guy to fall on his face and get voted off. Won't be this week

Adam--In the 'Pimp Spot' once again singing "Feeling Good" once again the best performance of the night is courtesy of Mr. Lambert that one note towrds the end was just insane. There's a new Freddie Mercury and his name is Adam Lambert

On the chopping block: Allison & Matt if it's a bottom three add Kris to the list

Going Home: Matt

OK it's Wednesday night and time again for my live review!

Kris - his voice is really strong tonight, as is his pitch. I wouldn't have had the tempo change though, it was beautiful at the slower tempo the song began at. He was true to the melody but gave it enough licks to make it modern. I have to agree with Randy, it was probably his best performance, even better than Ain't no sunshine.

Alison - I missed Alison's performance coz I was on the phone, I'll have to catch it up at either the 9.30 repeat tonight or the 2pm repeat tomorrow.

Mat - Do you prefer Constantine's or Melinda's version of this song? It was the moment I changed from hating to liking Constantine back in Season 4. I think this is one of Matt's best performances. He's been slipping for the past few weeks, but this was as good as Kris tonight. His falsetto was lovely, his voice was strong and I didn't hear any pitch problems. And he looks very handsome in his hat.

Gokey - He looks much better without the beard he's been cultivating, it's nice to see him looking handsome again. I still can't judge his singing because I hate him so much. The song was boring at first and then he changed it up into his usual same old boring barnstorming style. Shut up, Gokey.

Adam (yay!) - Back in the pimp spot, he's the first one this season to have a pimp repeat. And that was SMOKIN'!!!! Damn, Adam can do absolutely no wrong. This song has been done so often lately, even the Pussycat Dolls have done it, but I've never heard it like that before. Randy was right that it was a bit theatrical, but I think that it suited the song, and Kara was right that it was a little bit sleazy, but that's also the whole point of the song! I love Adam Lambert, I hope to Jeebus that he wins.

On a side note, I thought Jamie Foxx was a good mentor, he wasn't as arrogant as I expected.

Best - Adam, Kris, Alison

Bottom 3 - Matt, Alison, Gokey (drop Gokey if it's Bottom 2)

Going home - Matt.

i agree with your picks also stitch i think matt will go home i still say it will be between allison and adam but i am hoping adam wins i have been voting for him for weeks already anyways!! to me adam has the strongest vocals and he is not BORING!!! dee

Posted by pettyfan (Member # 2260) on :

Kris was awesome IMO!!! I also really liked Alison. Kara actually said something that made sense (sorry, not a Kara fan) when she told her she shouldn't have been in the bottom three those weeks. I too agree that Matt's going home.

Posted by ISIS (Member # 1780) on :

There is no way that Adam won't win this.

When he came walking down the steps, it totally reminded me of a scene from the movie "The Idolmaker". He hit that one note, and me and my mom just were stunned, and then he does that thing with his lip-like Elvis...he is so self confident.

I like Kris, but he doesn't have that Theatrical craziness like Adam...Adam is just so different, he has to win it...I don't think anyone else is even in the same category. They are OK singers, but they don't possess the star factor...which you don't see in anyone any more.

Posted by pettyfan (Member # 2260) on :

I agree that Adam'll probably win. But here's my two cents--Adam's been in Hollywood all these years and yet he's "undiscovered." If he was that good wouldn't he have been discovered already? Have I already complained about this lol? Anyway, I don't see how he won't win either. But who will wind up second? Last year you kinda knew it was gonna be David and David. But this year I think there's at least two choices, though I think it'll be Danny.

Posted by Ronnie (Member # 465) on :

well, i'll just say that i think they all pretty much did a good job. some way better than others but they all deserve to be there.

i think it should be between matt and danny as far as who should go home.

alison ends up in the bottom 3 often because i don't think she has the fan base that the guys do.

i think adam should definitely win the whole thing. as for who comes in second, it won't matter to me. they all most likely will get recognition.

i would so buy a kris album because i like his style and voice.
and i would love to see adam in concert.

adam is totally awesome. his performance last night was once again, amazing. i love the way he started and ended his song. [Smile]

Kris, did a really good job... It was his best yet.

Allison has an awesome vocal range, she did very well last night.

Matt, I think he kind of blew it last night. Not terrible, but, not his best...

Danny, what can you say, he has a great voice and presence. Vocal quality wise, it's him and Allison all the way...

Adam, too over the top and dramatic AGAIN... Just like Randy said last night. EVERY song ends up with way too much high pitch falsetto or screaming at times. I can see him as a good Broadway performer.

Matt is going home...

I would buy Kris's album too...or two or three of them... [Big Grin]

Never thought I'd see Adam in the bottom three...

wow that was almost an incredible upset tonight. Completely shocked that Adam was not only in the bottom three but also was in the bottom two. Glad to see that Matt finally went home after being voted off twice previously. The judges saved him after the round of 36 and once again a couple weeks ago. I was happy to see that Allison's fanbase might have gained some momentum as she wasn't in the bottom 3 and was safe. So far Danny is the only one who hasn't been in the bottom three. I hope Danny was watching Taylor Hicks closely because that's where his career is going.

Rock n Roll is the theme for next week. Hopefully we'll see Allison sing some Janis Joplin; how cool would that be?

Slash is the mentor. Interesting choice. Sure he's a rocker but definitely not a singer.

i was surprised to see adam in the bottom three over danny too? i think they just did that to throw people off? wierd!! i knew matt would go over adam of course next week will probably be danny! i still say it will be between adam and allison but adam will win!! dee

i was surprised at last night's results show. when ryan sent allison and danny over the safe side.. i was like "are you kidding me???" i'm dispappointed. i think danny and allison are nowhere near as good as adam and kris,..vocally anyway.

but i think they would all make good albums...except for danny maybe? i can't listen to him sing for very long.

yay next wee is rock and roll!

It's so difficult to pick who'll go next. In a perfect world, Gokey will get the boot next, followed by Kris, leaving an Adam/Alison finale.

I was just thinking...would it be self indulgent if the theme was going to be Elvis Costello week and Allison sang "Allison"? or even creepy if one of the others would sing it?

or how about if the theme was Irish Standards and Danny or somebody else sang "Danny Boy"?

[Big Grin]

If the theme was to sing songs with someone's name in the title, Alison could sing "Allison" (or "Veronica" keeping with Elvis Costello)
Hokey Gokey could sing "Danny Boy"

I'd love to hear Adam sing "Jenny 8675309"

Not sure about Kris, I like his singing but he doesn't have the personality. Even Hokey has a personality - as despicable as it is.

Are you ready to rock!!!!!!

Slash is the mentor!!!!!!!

Hopefully Allison does some Janis Joplin, Kris could be in trouble with this genre and Danny will probably sing some boring overplayed simple rock song like "Old Time Rock N Roll", Adam who knows what he'll do but I can almost guarantee it will be incredible.

They also said they'll be doing duets tonight....COOL

Adam--"Whole Lotta Love" a Led Zeppelin song Freaking A!!!!!! This is KILLER. Not many people can compare to the vocals of Robert Plant but Mr Adam Lambert doesn't play second fiddle.

Allison--"Crybaby" my dreams came true she's doing some Janis. Everytime I hear her voice I picture Ms. Joplin. Can't wait for this commercial to get over so I can hear it. Just remembered I'm not watching live I can FF through the commercials [Smile] She didn't disappoint me. This was pretty dang good. I'm so hoping for an Adam/Allison Final 2. She could have maybe picked a better Janis song but it still sounded great.

Kris & Danny duet--"Renegade" by Styx, Kris is surprising me with his rocker chops. Danny is just meh as usual. He's just proving more and more that he's A Taylor Hicks clone. Overall the duet was pretty average. Now this means that Adam & Allison will be doing a duet together which could be awesome

Kris--"Come Together" A Beatles classic later remade by Aerosmith. Not horrible but he's showing that Rock N Roll isn't his thing and pretty hard to follow the two rockers in Adam & Allison. He's going to be in trouble.

Danny--"Dream On" more Aerosmith. wow what a surprise another song by him that starts off slow and builds to a crescendo. He hasn't done anything original all season. This is painful. Get rid of him now.

Allison & Adam--"Slow Ride" Cool some Foghat. Definitely the better of the two duets. They look pretty cool together and it sounded great.

Will probably be a bottom two instead of a bottom three since there's only four people left

On The chopping block: Kris & Danny

Going Home: Really hoping it's Danny but will probably be Kris

i thought allison and adam's duet was really good loved it they did well together, danny and kris eh no big thing there just alright to me, i still say it will be between adam and allison in the end!! going home tonight should be kris but with the way the voting has been going who knows? alot of the voters are young girls who love kris have to wait and see what happens? dee

Posted by pettyfan (Member # 2260) on :

Sigh. I'm afraid this will be Kris's last week, though I did think he did a better job than Danny. I actually liked Adam tonight.

Posted by It's Sam, Mr. Hain If You're Nasty (Member # 3150) on :

I just need to comment. What was with the kid glove treatment last night by the judges concerning Danny? That performance was truly one of the worst if not the worst of the season since the Final 13 began. They've ripped people apart for giving better performances than the one that Danny gave last night. Yet all we hear is stuff like "You get an A+ for effort"

I'm hoping that Simon was using reverse psychology on Danny's fans by telling him he should be safe. Hopefully Danny's fans will get a little complacent because of that statement and not vote for him thus causing him to lose. We can only hope. I want him gone now. I'm sick of seeing him clap for himself every week.

I loved the duets. I'd say the Allison/Adam duet was the better of the two. They were both in their element with the rock songs last night.

Posted by jdocster (Member # 5752) on :

- Danny - I liked Dream On until the last not. Too high for him. His duet with Kris was good too. He and Allison have the best vocal quality hands down...

- Kris - I liked the duet. He did OK with Come Together...

- Allison - As always was awesome! What a voice. The duet was really good as well.

- Adam - I actually liked him for the most part last night. Still, a bit dramatic, over the top with the high note. I was surprised how well he did though. He would be good at throw-back 80s glam/hair band rock.

Adam will be in the bottom 3, Kris will go home. In the end, it should be Danny and Allison...

A litle late, we had to record it last night and I'm watching it before work.

Adam - Total rock star, he really has a fantastic rock voice.

Alison - I love her hair! A really strong performance, she was pushing the emotion like she should, but I think she could have put a bit more into the vocals.

Kris/Hokey - Wow their voices work so well together! It did seem a bit like the Hokey show, at times he was overpowering Kris.

Kris - One of my fave songs from my alltime favorite band, this was a good job. There was nothing bad about it but there wasn't anything fantastic either.

Hokey - Pitchy. My hatred for Hokey Gokey is well documented in this thread so that's all I have to say.

Adam/ Alison - I don't know the song, but it sounds pretty good. Again, their voices mesh well together. Much better than Kris/Danny.

Best of the night - Alison, Adam

Should be bottom 2 - Kris, Danny

Probably will be bottom 2 - Kris, Alison

I've been predicting and Adam / Alison Final 2 for weeks, I hope it comes true!

Are you kidding me that Danny could survive after that performance last night? Just proves that there's a lot of tone deaf people who are casting votes out there.

Going to miss Allison. She has more talent in her little pinkie than Hokey has in his whole body.

Next week: 2 songs. One is the judges choice. The second is a personal favourite of each singer.

i agree with you sam last night was a joke to me i am sorry but allison was far better then danny or kris and should still be there i still say kris is there because of the teeny bopper votes danny is just okay compared to allison so now i think it will be between adam and kris and of course adam will win hands down!!!

Posted by pettyfan (Member # 2260) on :

I really didn't like Danny's version of Dream On. He reminds me of Lil Rounds. He started out great and then something happened. I'm not sure what. I don't see any reason why Adam won't win.

I loved seeing Daughtry last night. Just goes to show where 4th place can get you!

daughtrey was great i saw him here at the fair 2 years ago and he rocked i hope he comes back again soon? i also loved no doubt didn't care much for the guy in the tu-tu what was up with that? lol

Danny Adam and Kris...

I think it will turn out like this...

Danny 1st place
Adam second place
Kris third place

So this week they go back home and the judges choose a song for them. Wonder what they'll choose for each? I see the top three as Adam, Danny and Kris, though I wish Kris could at least come in second. Guess I'll have to get my voting fingers ready tomorrow night.

Posted by It's Sam, Mr. Hain If You're Nasty (Member # 3150) on :

Yeah the judges pick a song for each to sing and they also get to pick their own song. So we get to see two songs from each.

Over on the American Idol forum over at survivorsucks.com a lot of people have been speculating the judges have been hoping for a Danny vs Adam final 2 for quite sometime. Will be interesting to see what kind of song they pick for Kris. Will they purposely throw him under the bus and choose a more difficult song for him then the other two?

Still wish Allison would have beaten out Hokey Gokey last week.

Might be a hard night for me to watch as I'm watching a recording of the show and there was storms in the area while the show was being recorded so will be interrupted by storm warnings.

First songs will be the judges choices

Danny as chosen by Paula: "Dance Little Sister" by Terrance Trent D'Arby--Not a great song and really really not liking the job danny did on it. He proves more and more all the time how limited of an artist he really is.

No idea how the judges felt as there was a storm warning while the judges were talking

Kris as chosen by Randy & Kara: "Apologize" by One Republic not really digging the song choices the judges have came up with. I do like Kris better than Hokey so far tonight.

JUDGE FIGHT!!! I agree with Simon

Adam as chosen by Simon: "One" by U2 leave it to Sir Mr Cowell to pick a good song. Leave it to Adam to give the best performance of the first set of songs.

another storm warning looks like all it's interrupting is something going on in Africa

Singers personal choices are next

Danny--"You Are So Beautiful" great song but as usual not liking Danny's arrangement. No heart or passion in his performance and that's what made this song the hit that it was for Joe ****er. Horrible.

Kris--"Heartless" this was my favourite performance of his all season. That was pretty darn good. He needs to be in the Final 2 next week along with Adam.

Adam--"Cryin'" Freaking Insane!!! I see this as his way of taking a dig at Danny. Danny tried an Aerosmith song last week and blew chunks and as usual Adam rocked the joint

Time for Danny to go home. PLEASE!!!!!

Wednesday night, live review, blah blah blah

Hokey - Paula's right, his voice does have a Terance Trent Darby sound to it, but I'd have preferred to hear Sign your name. Kind of a nothing performance, there was nothing really memorable.

Kris - Good choice of song, he did it well but again it wasn't anything fantastically memorable.

Adam - Love the song, but I'm not sure if I like the arrangement. What does it mean when you think an Adam Lambert performance was over the top? I'm not sure what to think. It could have been better, but it's the best of the first half of the show.

Hokey - I hate to say it, but this is kind of nice. He's made some interesting changes to the chord sequences which I always appreciate. And then he starts to belt it and he loses me.

Kris - A Kanye song? It really suits Kris' style. Good idea on Kris to do something that really shows of his own style. I agree with Simon, it might have just kept him alive in the competition.

Adam - On paper this sounded great but something wasn't quite right. The backup singer was slightly out I think. Is it me? Am I missing Adam's vibe tonight? Or is he not spot on tonight?

Next week's final 2 - Adam and Kris.

Danny was the weakest of the night, and he should hopefully be tomorrow's shock elimination.

danny was just okay and i also think they overjudged kris i didn't think he was that great last night i still think danny will go home tonight i voted for adam last night again he has the strongest voice and he is not boooorrrrrrring!!!!

Posted by pettyfan (Member # 2260) on :

Well I voted for Kris from 9:00 till 9:42. Then I fell asleep. I really think his performance of Heartless was friggin' awesome!!!! I think he deserves to be in the top two. Stitch, I think there was something "off" about Adam's last performance too. Maybe it was all the screeching, I don't know. I know he's gonna win but there's something about him I just don't like. Oh well.

Posted by jdocster (Member # 5752) on :

I liked Kris's first song the best. Danny did OK with Dance little Sister. Adam blew chunks all over the U2 song. Absolutely ruined it.

Danny rocked the second song and it paid-off for him. He has the best vocals of the group hands-down. Kris did well with his second song. Adam "screamed" his way through his second song. Terrible drama...

Tonight, Danny and Adam move forward. Kris gets screwed. Danny wins it in the end... Just like Simon fears will happen. [Smile]

Adam--Personal Favourite from the season: "Mad World" as awesome this time as it was the first time around

Kris--Personal favourite from the season: "Ain't No Sunshine" this was the first song of his that I liked during the season. Another fine rendition of the song. We might have a dogfight for the votes.

Adam--Chosen by American Idol Creator Simon Fuller: "A Change Is Gonna Come" I love this song, Sam Cooke would be proud.

Kris--Chosen by American Idol creator Simon Fuller: "What's Going On" Another great song choice. Not too crazy about the arrangement he chose for the song but still decent

Adam--Song written by Kara DioGuardi: "No Boundaries" Hard to judge a song you've never heard before. I loved the way how he had the song start slow and how it kept on picking up the pace only to pull it back at the end.

Kris--Song written by Kara DioGuardi: "No Boundaries" did his version seem to be shorter than Adam's? Decent once again but falls short of Adam's take on the song.

I feel that Adam deserves to win. The last song I think should be the deciding factor. Singing the same song Adam outshined Kris. However I feel the vote may be close and I wouldn't be 100% shocked if Kris would end up winning.

of course i voted for adam last night can't wait to see who wins ? tonight is the 2 hour show not last night sorry ! my hubby and i keep arguing he says kris is gonna win i say adam will win we do this every year lol but he does not like adam at all he says he screams too much when he sings i say he is more expressive and artistic with his songs!!! GO ADAM!!!

Well, I have to admit it. After bashing Adam all season, he got me last night. I really liked "Mad World". I liked it the first time he did it, but, he nailed it last night. I really enjoyed his vocals. It's funny that Simon actually said that Adam was "a bit to theatrical" for him. That is exactly what Randy and I have been saying all season. Too over the top. The funny thing is, I thought he nailed it last night.

Kris did very well with "Ain't No Sunshine". Sounded like the first time he did it. Very good. I have him tied with Adam...

I didn't quite understand we they chose a Sam Cooke song for Adam, but, he freakin' killed it! I mean, I REALLY liked the way he sang it. Just a little bit of the high pitch for effect. Very very good.

I think Kris did a very good job singing Marvin Gaye. Really, it's hard for anyone to compare to Marvin. Kris did better than most would have done. I think the judges were to hard on him.

As for the last song, "No Boundaries", it blew chunks! Absolutely stupid song. Even Simon remarked about how bad the song was.

I think Adam is going to win it tonight! [Cool]

hi guys [Smile]

so ya, i too think adam will win. but kris is winner to me as well. i will buy both their cds.

my husband thinks kris will win, but we both are rooting for him all the way.

i hated that no boundaries song. yuck!

i really think the marvin gaye song was a bad choice for kris. he sang it well, but come on, this is the finals.. too boring of a song, don't ya think?

The results shows are brutally awful...the group singing and dancing is embarrassing. Anyway...Kris pulled it off...I'm sure Adam will get a contract regardless.

Kris needed to win this more than Adam did. Kris won American Idol but Adam will probably be the bigger star. Heck Adam is already one step better than Kris, he never has to sing that awful song that Kara wrote ever again and Kris unfortunately has to release it as his first single.

Pretty awesome to see Adam sing with Kiss and awesome to see Queen.

Was it just me or did every member of the top 13 get to sing some solo or be featured with the exception of Scott?

I had a feeling all day that Kris would win even though I felt Adam was by far the better star.

Yep, hi-five Ronnie!! Ya know, Sam, I didn't think much about Scott until you mentioned it. Very interesting. So here was the worst part for me--having to hear that awful blonde headed girl sing. What was her name? Oh yeah Megan Joy. I plugged my ears, no kidding. I'm just very, very happy Kris won. My mouth gaped open and I just sat there. I think he'd do well in Nashville. Maybe then he wouldn't have to release that horrendous song. Ugh.

WOW! What an upset. - I could not believe it. Even Kris couldn't believe it. -

What a great show. KISS, Santana, Richie, Queen, Lauper. Simply awesome.

I think it was ungentlemanly that Simon would not give Kris a standing ovation like the other judges. What a baby. -
