I admit I'm pet-less. [Frown] The fact is I work a lot and it's not fair for a cat or dog to be caged up all day waiting for the owner to come home. I've thought about less attention-needing animals like turtles or fish or something, but haven't made gotten anything like that yet.

I've heard stories about some pets on here, do you have all sorts like tarantulas, lizards, ferets, parrots? And if so I'm jealous. If I had the funds and facilities I would have at least one of each species, like what Noah was doing boarding the ark. LOL.

Growing up I had:

6 raccoons
1 skunk
1 red fox
1 ground hog
1 gray squirrel
2 ferrets
1 sparrow hawk
1 turtle
1 iguana-my brother's
hermit crabs
gerbils
hamsters
rabbits
ducks

Your not allowed to have wild animals any more, or you'd get fined from the Game Commisson, but when I was a kid we found alot of orphaned and abandoned animals, and we'd bring them home.

Now we have....

1 French Bulldog-Jasper
5 cats - 2 are strays....that we need to find a home for, and 3 were strays that we are keeping. Their names are: Willow, Scooter and Minnie.

Our ferret-Bindy- died last year while we were in Cape Cod on vacation...we had her 7 years. That was a bummer.

We love animals.

My high school's boyfriends brother (who became one of my best friends)...he had a trantula in 1986. I remember going out to visit them with my cousin...they had horses, and the guy who was my friend-got me on a horse-with no saddle...and we ended up falling off of it before it ran in to the barn....I feel off and cracked my hip, but my friend caught his arm on the side of the barn, to keep me from smashing my head off the side. I went and laid on the couch, while I was waiting for my cousin and my boyfriend to come back from riding a motorcycle, and my friend-who just had broken his arm-and didn't know it yet...he got out the trantula-it's name was Skeeter-and he put it on the floor...and I could hear it pitter pattering across the lineolum, and it started to crawl up the side of the couch...and I freaked and fell on the floor and smashed my hip up some more...and he thought that was hysterical. When I was a kid, I use to go to college with my Aunt who was a wildlife conservationist, and her friend was a bug "doctor"...and he had a tarantula, and I let it crawl all over me when I was a kid...so I don't know how I became such a wimp.

There's a sad story to what happened to Skeeter...he died a few years later-I was there that night too...it wasn't my fault....but my friend stuck him in the freezer and froze him...he wanted to take it to a taxidermist ..but then his mom had a breakdown when she found it in the freezer.

My childhood dog is still going strong...still lives with my parents....a malamute husky named Anook. Now I have four cats: Willis, Alley, Hanah, and Cloe'....Willis was named after my love for Different Strokes..."Whatchu talkin' bout Willis?" Unofficially, I have a pet spider named Junior. I swear the same spider comes back every year and hangs out in the corner of the side window attached to our front door. My wife always asks me to kill it cause she's too scared to...but I never do. Jokingly, most times when coming home, I make a point to say hello to Junior...more so to tease my wife. I also rescued a baby hairless mouse when I was younger...my dog was hitting him around. I tried feeding him milk through an eye dropper....milk bubbles would actually come out of his nose...found out later I was supposed to feed him water. Anyway....even though I cut a hole in my sisters rabbit fur mitten to keep him warm...he died the next day...his name was Wilbert by the way [Wink]

My son and I have a cat, Oreo, who we rescued from a shelter after he lost his home in a Florida hurricane a few years ago ... and a kitten, Loopers, who happens to be as crazy as they come [Wink] A friend gave her to us to cheer my son up after a serious injury.

My little guy really wants a puppy, and although I'd love to get one for him, I just don't have the time one needs with dog.

Riptide--you need a pet!!! [Smile]

I have a German shepherd (male) and a golden retriever mix (female). She looks nothing like a golden retriever--she's solid black and shiny and adorable. My shepherd is black and tan and absolutely handsome. I also have a white kitten with orange ears and an orange tail, with orange splotches on his back. He's a wild man, LOL. My pets are like my kids.

I always, always had pets growing up---cats and dogs, mostly. I did have hamsters before I became petrified of rodents, and I also had zebra finches and some goldfish. I couldn't imagine life without some kind of pet.

I think Riptide needs a pet too....

I honestly have thought about getting a c0ckatiel for a pet...because I saw them at a zoo, and fed one, and they were the cutiest thing....but they do make a big mess.

Every animal has to be fed and picked up after, and they are like kids ...you have to arrange for someone to watch them if you ever want to go anywhere....but the pros always outweigh the cons.

I don't have any pets right now. We had a cat when I was tiny, just learning to walk. We always had dogs growing up too. But now I have severe allergies and can't have a cat or a shedding type dog. I'd love to have a small dog, but we have new carpet and I just know they'd have to pee on it!

I do need a pet, I've been getting that pet TLC mostly from friends pets, i come home from my friends place and am covered in cat hair. Then i vist my other friend and his big german sheppard starts sniffing me and starts freaking out. Does this stuff happen to you guys? I've received offers to take kittens, I just feel it's not fair to them when you are out most of the day. So until my job changes I'm going to ha ve to live vicariously through your pets, you lucky ducks!

I have my 10 year old Labrador Jessica H Dog, and my 19 year old cat Trevor. They both live with my parents because there is a lot more space there than at my house and they are used to wide open spaces.
Living with me I have 2 goldfish, Seymour and Edna. I've gone through a few fish over the years - Seymour, Edna, Lrrrr, Ndnd, Weaponhead, Machine and Mavis.
We also have a ****atoo at my folks that we found 10 years ago as a baby in the paddock next door. We raised it and fed it on mashed up weetbix until it was healthy.
When I was growing up we had a series of white rabbits, all of them "Peter" for some reason...

I could go on and on about my pets. I love my dogs. I have Storm who is an Alaskan Malamute. And Bear a German Shephard mix. I got Storm from my parents when I was 19. Bear I got from the Humane Society. I saw him playing in the fenced in area when I was driving by one day and fell in love.

My dog's are like my other children. I am lucky enough that I get to bring them to work with me whenever I please. They love to hang out in the studio. Storm loves to ride in the Camaro. It has t-tops and she is tall enough that her head sticks out of the top when she is sitting down. It is funny to see. She weighs a good 135 pounds and bear weighs 60. They are great with Ella. They let her lay on them, stand on them, she even rode Bear once like a horse. I couldn't ask for a better pair.

I have always wanted a czechoslovakian wolfdog. When Ella is older and we move so we have more than 2 acres maybe we will get one. (Ok in my dreams)

Sounds like you all have great pets, in abundance too. [Big Grin]

Anyone else have dream pets? Breeds and kinds you want, but are deterred due to space, money or availability? I wanted a bulldog since I was young, don't have the right environment for that yet, but it would be dang cool.

Anyone have any animal allergies?

I'd love to have another pitbull (they are totally misunderstood--trust me--it's all in how you raise them). I don't have room for another dog, though. Of all the dogs I've had my German shepherd has been the best. He's so lovable and cuddly, and he's very protective.

Rocky the Rottweiler is my doggie.. He's mean and cranky and hates the world but he loves his Daddy!! And I love him..

I love Pitbulls....but I am scared to death of Rottweilers....sorry Jack.

One day at work(I work in other people's houses), a HUGE Rottweiler came flying down the stairs and tried to kill me. There was a big trash can in the room that I was able to put between me and the dog which probably saved my life. It scared the crap out of me so bad that I was shaking for 30 minutes after the owner got him out of the room. I won't go near one at all now.

Anybody on here have a pug or know someone who does? I'm seriously considering getting a dog and this is the breed I've been looking at......

I had a Siberian Husky back in the 80s. I adopted him from an animal shelter too. I moved away from home, so my boyfriend (at the time)...kept him for me...but he ran away and I never knew what happened to him.
He never liked people with Blonde Hair...I think someone must have abused him.

I love German Shepards...my Grandparents had one for 12 years.

My mom had a collie named Laddie that looked like Lassie, and she had a Boston Terrier named Honey.

My brother had a St. Bernard named Toby, and he had 2 Great Danes named Wendell and Winston.

If I could have any dog...I'd have a Bernese Mountain Dog...they are like giant bears and the most friendly dogs. I also think Keshounds are cute.

One of my college professors had one. She loved the little thing, but she talked about how it was sickly a lot, and how that was common for pugs...

I have two cats "Patchy" and "Flash". They are 8yrs old, and 6yrs old. Patchy actually found me one day. We had a very bad storm and the next day this cat "Patchy" shows up at my house crying and looking lost. She kept coming back for a couple of days so I took her in. I tried to find her owner. I called all of local pet shelters, and, asked my neighbors... So, I kept her and made her an indoors only cat. I have buried far too many cats in the past and didn't want to go through it again... Anyway, a year and a half later I got her another playmate "Flash" so she wouldn't be lonely. They have me trained VERY well. [Big Grin]

Cindymancini-Had a Pug...she loved her.

Our dog is a french bulldog...he is bigger than a pug...bgut he has a smashed in face like a pug-my one friend thinks I should use his nose as an outlet plug ... he's smaller than an English Bulldog and he doesn't drool all over. Denise Richards has a bunch of "Frenchies" . We really love Jasper. I highly recommend them. We feel like he's a person at times. We all talk to him as if he understands every word we say. He is out tonight for his last obedience class, then he gets to go to a doggie Christmas party.

I have an 11-year-old Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. She is the sweetest dog you will ever meet in your life. If you sit on the couch she will come over and lay her head in your lap. All my life I always had big dogs and avoided little ones which I thought were too hyper and yappy. Cavaliers are not like that at all. They are very low-key and low-maintenance, and extremely loyal and loving. And no matter how bad my day is, she always cheers me up.

journey,

Which one have you got?

White & brown (left). There's actually a rare fourth color - black & brown (kind of like Doberman or Rottweiler coloration).

I have owned two sulphur crested cockatoos, a crimson rosella, collared doves, chickens, geese and ducks on several occasions.

At the moment, I have no pets.

I have had a few pets.A tame turkey,a tame crow, and severals cats and dogs. The crow was funny. She had her place in a corner of my bedroom. In the summer my window was usually open,so she went out an in as she pleased. If the window was closed, she knocked on.When i opened it i would always get a long "talk" as she was obviously not happy with the room service. She loved to terrify the mailman and neighbors.Once at a tourist beach barbeque's in the area, she crashed the whole party walking on the food, stealing sausages from children.I was 500m away, but could hear screaming.A friend of me at the beach at the time could report confused german tourists scrambling for safety [Razz]

Today i have a 8 year old Labrador/mastiff breed name scooby. He is my shadow day and night.A few years ago,he had to have major surgery.I did not have any insurance,so it did cost me about 3000$
And it was well worth every penny just to still have him around. He truly is my best friend.

Funny Zigy. But it doesnt shed on everything, poop or pee on the floor, doesnt bother the wifes very sensitive allergies and even though it isnt even mine(but i am the one who takes care of it) believe it or not it is very easy to take care of. It is our 2nd one.

Can't argue with that.
