This is surely to send New England's season (and many a fantsay football rosters) crashing and burning.........

One of my fantasy teams is effected. Thankfully I have decent replacements in Eli and Favre on that team. But one hates to lose their first round pick in the first week of the season.

All of New England and the rest of the league is holding their collective breath to see what happens. The injury looked very similar to the hit the Steelers put on the Bengals Carson Palmer some years ago.

and Carson Palmer has never been the same QB since the injury.

Posted by MotleyRulz (Member # 3598) on :

Nope Palmer hasn't been the same. Maybe it's karma coming back after last season. That and the fact that Tom left Bridget Moynahan when she was pregnant with his kid....

He is out for the year! Now what are the Pats gonna do??

Posted by Valley (Member # 1322) on :

The Pats will struggle without a doubt. The playing field just got leveled.

Posted by MotleyRulz (Member # 3598) on :

Pats have strong receivers but will Cassel be a strong enough QB to lead the team? I see an emphasis on the running game beginning if not. Wonder what Sylvia Brown thinks? I hate to see anybody get injured but as an avid Patriots hater we'll see how the team holds out without Tommy boy.........

Well if they do well without Brady than that will just prove that they are an all around good team and Brady was overrated....or not.

Posted by xchazx (Member # 7158) on :

maybe they go and try to talk culpepper into playing and they can have a culpepper/moss reunion.

Posted by Chris the CandyFanMan (Member # 3197) on :

Um, no. Two wild personalities like that coming together is not what New England would need at the moment. Regardless, this probably puts Indianapolis in the AFC's driver's seat for the moment as San Diego and Cleveland, the others I'd imagined to be contenders, proved today they still have a LOT to learn yet.

Posted by Valley (Member # 1322) on :

Uh Chris....The Colts just got destroyed by Da Bears.

Posted by MotleyRulz (Member # 3598) on :

My sentiments exactly. Peyton got beat around like a rag doll. Go Bears!!! I see San Diego coming back with a vengeance after the Panthers upset today..........

Steelers looked tough in the AFC. Falcons played well too in the NFC as did the Eagles. Possible all Pennsylvania Super Bowl?

Posted by Riptide (Member # 457) on :

It's too early to tell yet who is for real. But some great games today, Carolina stole one from Sand Diego, but the Chargers seem to start slow always. I'm still picking a Dallas-San Diego final. It will be interesting to see what the Pats will do now, is it too late to bring back Doug Flutie or Vinny Testaverde? LOL.

I couldn't believe the game Michael Turner had. Maybe he'll finally get to shine after being behind Tomlinson in San Diego..........

Posted by Riptide (Member # 457) on :

Turner was amazing, a team rushing record was broken too. Adrian Peterson might have some company as the league's best trusher.

Posted by MotleyRulz (Member # 3598) on :

Reggie Bush finally had the game I'd been expecting out of him for 2 years now........

Posted by Riptide (Member # 457) on :

Better than Ricky Williams and his 24 yards, Reggie could be a force, noticed he doesn't go inside much, I think that was his problem last year.

Motley, are you a Panthers or a Saints fan? The Panthers did pretty well w/o Steve Smith.

Posted by MotleyRulz (Member # 3598) on :

Oh Panthers fan through and through. I mentioned Bush because last year and year before that he was on my fantasy team. They did look good without Smith if he can keep his attitude in check when he gets back they should have an even better year. I couldn't believe Delhomme was throwing those straight out 2-3 yard passes in the final minutes today versus throwing close to the sideline so the receiver could step out and stop the clock. They don't call them the Cardiac Cats for nothing.........

I could be really, really mean and jump up and down and scream and yell that dumbass Tom Brady (that's one of my nicer names for him) is out...but I'm a professional and I won't...ROFLMAO [Big Grin] [Big Grin]

Seriously, I can't stand Brady or any of the other Pats. So there's no tears from me. I told my daddy that now someone needs to take Moss out...I mean, I don't want permanent injury, but ya know...

Da Bears!! Da Bears!! Da Bears!! Maybe Grossman won't have colorblindness issues this year and constantly throw to the wrong team... [Roll Eyes]

Poor Chad Pennington though...I honestly think he'd be a decent QB (he was at Marshall, go Herd!) if he had a team to play for.

I'm glad that Favre and the Bretts...I mean Jets...had a good game.

Okay, Grossman didn't play. Apparently Orton knows his colors...

Yup Brady is out for the season so I need to replace him on one of my fantasy teams. Thinking of picking up his backup Matt Cassell. On my other team I lost WR Nate Burleson for the season so I replaced him with Eagles WR DeSean Jackson. Hopefully I don't lose a player a week on my teams.

The Pats are going to give Chris Simms a tryout, don't know if it's for a backup or what. I seem to recall Chris had some horrific injury with the Bucs. Sam, losing Brady is a big loss with fantasy, what other QB is available? The rookie QB for the Falcons looks good.

So far, so good fro Mr. Rogers, he's 18-22, I hope they just let him play his style and eventually drop the Mr. Brett comparisons.

Simms took several hard hits during a Carolina Panthers game and ending up having a ruptured spleen and had to have surgery. Most of the people I know who had Brady are picking up his backup Cassell and some are even looking at Kerry Collins (Vince Young out for a bit) from Tennessee or proposing trades. Those are about the only options as available QB's are spread thin by now......

I ended up picking up Cassell for Brady. My QB situation on that team should b epretty decent I now have Cassell, Eli Manning, & Favre.
