Hi all as you are aware this site represents all things 80's and for one reason or another we are all drawn here because of our love of the 80's whether it be the Movies, Music, Culture or indeed something else!

There is are many things that I revere about this decade, but what I still find interesting is the American Snack i.e. Candy, Chips etc!

Yes to you Yanks this may seem a little odd but back in the 80's the UK was pretty limited when it comes to this sort of thing!

The world has become a lot smaller since the 80's and there is less mystery surrounding your bad boy snacks, but back in the 80's we humble brits would watch a movie and be more amazed at the giant bag of crisp/Chips or the unusual candy bar that had just appeared and consumed on screen!

The Goonies is a good example of this i.e. Chunk and the Baby Ruth/slice of Pizza/Ice Cream! & of course the deleted store scene.

I am pretty sure all this probably strikes a cord with all us UK kids and certainly stuck with me.

Sure we had Mars Bars, Twix, Fruit Pastels, Walkers Crisp plus a few more treats but not on the scale you guys had!

I mean you had Doritos probably 15-20 years before us and it has only recently that they have appeared in what we would considerer big American sized bags, I actually found Reeses Bars & Cups in Morrison the other week (A chain of UK Supermarkets) which was positively exotic!

I have been fortunate enough to have revisited the states a number of times over the years and have always taken great joy in buying a crap load of Candy whilst there!

I was wondering wheter anybody would be interested in a Candy exchange program, where I would gladly ship some of our more exclusive UK sugary treats for some US ones!

A Bar for a Bar or a Packet for a Packet!

So I can actually kick back stick the Goonies on and enjoy a real Baby Ruth bar knowing its true 80's delight!

This is a coincidence, even as I type this I'm looking at the wrapper of a freshly eaten Baby Ruth.

There's a company called 'American Sweets' based in the UK that imports lots of US goodies (obviously, it's slightly pricey). I recently discovered that it's based in the town near me, so I get free shipping!

Hi yep I have ordered a few bits and pieces of various importers over the years, just don't like paying there prices!

As I have mentioned my local Morrisons are doing Reeses bars and Cups at the very reasonable price of 50P per item, however you will still pay double that at these specialist sweet importers!

So as mentioned any American member who wants to ship some classic American candy my way get in touch and/or if there is some traditional British treat that you have always wanted to try I will do my best to accommodate you!
