What are your thoughts about this?

I will watch it but I dunno if it can live up to the original. Considering it is written by Kurt Wimmer (the same guy who wrote the Total Recall remake) it's hard to say.

I am very keen to see it when it comes out Christmas day. One area that could be improved on is some really cool surfing scenes but hopefully not too much C.G.I. to ruin it.

https://youtu.be/wNUL29xQ5kQ - just watched the trailer Bernie and in my opinion it looks like it will fall well short of the awesome original.

They seem to be going into remake overdrive these days, have they run out of ideas?

I think It looks watchable at best and i'm not overkeen on either of the two leads,it could turn out better than predicted though but I do doubt it,I'll just have to wait and see.

No, just no to all of these remakes. I understand it's gone on in the industry for decades, but the new remakes are bad.

I don't agree with the remakes either. Stick with the original. If you are going to do a remake it better be damn good. Example is Scorsese's Cape Fear. Remakes are usually of classic films too. That's why I was surprised when Total Recall got remade. I never watched it but I heard only bad things.

Yeah, the leads look kinda bogus. I never heard of them. I will mainly want to watch it for something to do / curiosity. Do I really think it's going to be good? Probably not.

The writer is awful (Total Recall remake) and after watching that trailer I am pretty sure I won't see it. It looks pretty bad and the acting looks bogus dudes.

One of my favorite old school classic movies is a Imitation of Life, the Lana Turner version. I didn't know that it was a remake until I watched it on TCM and the host said it was a remake.

Saw the preview today at the theatre and I think I will go see it. My son showed interest in it also which has a big influence on what the family sees.
The scenery alone was amazing.

Wasn't a big enough fan of the original to say I'm excited about this. Just a mediocre film getting remade. What's the point?

I just watched it for something to do. It was OK but nothing special at all. I believe kids will like it as it got a good clap from the teens in the cinema.

I would give it 2/4 stars

I agree with your star rating Bernie and if a person has seen the original they would not put them in the same league. The new one seemed a little rushed to me, not enough story. Johnny Utah figured things out too easy and next thing you know hes right there where he needs to be.

All in all, I liked the movie and enjoyed the scenery, especially the giant waves which we don't see much of here in Missouri.

It's funny you say that Johnny figures things out too easily. I noticed this too. It seemed as if there was actually no logical way he could have reached some of his conclusions. It was a poorly written movie. That's for sure. Great scenery so will be good for kids and adrenaline junkies.

It was good to see Laird Hamilton in the movie also who tows Utah onto a massive wave with the use of a jet ski. Laird Hamilton is one crazy dude. Absolutely fearless.

Pretty average movie but OK if you are just bored to death one day and have got nothing better to do.

Massive waves here in Australia. Almost drowned a couple of times over the years. I don't even go in the water any more. Too rough and too many sharks.

Pardon my ignorance but who is Laird Hamilton Bernie?
I got a couple shark bites the other day..........for my water heater! The biggest waves I have ever seen in person were about 10 foot in Barbados. How big do they get over there?

Btw, glad to hear that you did not drown.
