What are some of your favorite television shows in the 2000's? Some of my top favorites were The Shield, The Wire, Rescue Me, & Brotherhood (a Peabody award winning drama about an Irish American family in Rhode Island- one brother is a politician, the other a hood with Irish mob ties).

Monk, Numb3rs, and The Middle are at the top of my list. The Good Guys also had potential before it got yanked rather soon.

I like The Good Guys too. Great choice. If you like Denis Leary, he was even better in the short-lived The Job.

I will throw out plugs for 24 (at least the first five seasons) and the UK Life on Mars, one of the very best TV shows of any country or any era. (Avoid the American remake. It's a complete abomination.) And one more: Veronica Mars, one of the best written TV shows ever.

I don`t watch too much current TV....mostly because I hate being committed to a specific night to watch. Now with all the viewing options, I`ll likely try to pick one or two to sift through. I`ve actually never seen an episode of Shield, but this is one that is sparking an interest. More recently, I really love the comic book genre....I`ve seen every episode of Arrow and The Flash...and now midway through the Daredevil series....

I hear you, k. A lot of these shows as great as they are, even with DVD sets and streaming, really require a serious time commitment. I know a critic who is working his way through the original Dark Shadows series, 1,225 episodes at about 22 minutes each. (Or 131 discs if you got the DVD box set.) How many days is that? A month of watching 24/7? LOL I have found that as I get older, if a show doesn't completely knock me out, I'll watch a few episodes to get a flavor of it and then move on. Life is just too short.

The Shield is excellent, btw. Highly recommended. And it only ran 89 episodes. [Smile]

I loved True Detective and watched the whole first season set within one week.
I also liked Six Feet Under very much and have seen all 63 episodes. Band of Brothers was fantastic too.

Other than that, i´ve only seen first seasons from The Shield, Californication, Boardwalk Empire and Dallas re-boot.
All very good stuff (except Dallas which was only so-so) but i just don´t have enought time to watch more.

I loved True Detective season 1! Matthew McConehey definitely deserved the Oscar. I watched the complete season in about a week and a half. Justified was good. The finale was great. Sons of Anarchy was good here and there. I'm trying to decide on what series to watch next. Six Feet Under sounds good. Does anyone watch Game of Thrones? It doesn't seem like my kind of thing, but there is such hype over it when each new season starts.

They are filming season 2 of True Detective now.
Crash, I loved The Job! It wasn't renewed due to the 9-11 attacks. Leary did cast a lot of actors who appeared in the Job, on Rescue Me. I'm wondering if he'll do the same with his new show coming up in July, Sex and Drugs and Rock and Roll. He is also a producer of Sirens on USA network which just got cancelled. Lenny Clarke was a semi- regular in Sirens, and. John Scurti was in an episode or two. I didn't watch much of season 2, as the writing had gone downhill.

Mad Men ended it's series run two weeks ago. This was another excellent series set in the 1960's about an advertising firm.
I just started Game of Thrones. I'm also considering Six Feet Under. I keep hearing good things about it.
