Is it just me, or is there really nothing worth going to see at the theatres right now? I love going to the movies, but haven't been there for a couple of months, which is a long time for me. Granted I've been busy and haven't seen many previews, so my question is....anything new worth paying $10 bucks to go see?

Dude, as a kid in the late 80's to early 90's I would go to the cinemas almost weekly. That's how quick they were churning out good quality movies. Now I would probably only go once every year if that. I hear ya....there's nothin'. No recommendations unfortunately.

50/50, Drive, The Ides of March (don't expect anything uplifting it's a political flick), Horrible Bosses came out on DVD today it was a great watch at the theaters. The thing that irritates me about our local cinema is they'll have 2 or 3 screens of the latest 3d cartoon and/or latest Larry the Cable Guy/Madea/Tyler Perry movie and as a result never get alot of lower budget or really good but not as popular flicks. Good cinema is still out there the problem is it doesn't fall into your laps alot of the times like it did back in the day: you have to search for it.

I thought that Drive was garbage.

I hear you, seems like most new films are just there to fill the gap between comic book movies. Look East Kev, a lot of the good films I've seen this year were from China.

Thanks for the input guys. I actually went to the theatres to see Horrible Bosses and thought that was pretty funny. Though, this may have been the last movie I've seen in theatres....which was a couple of months ago now. I'll take your advice Kash and seek to track some lesser known gems down....

i agree with this slump theory, alot of movies today feature characters who come off trying to be super cool, and the movies themselves seem to be one giant commercial just to sell a new phone or car.

i think alot of the movies most people appreciate, the characters they like, are liked because they arent trying to be cool, at least they arent written that way, and they come off as real people, or more realistic.

after a decade of this i think the movie going majority have grown tired of all this, as in character behavior, action scenes, story structure, henceforth all the remakes,
