Ok so, this is a damn fine movie. It's not perfect and the story is straight-forward, but it still manages to capture and excite you at times. It's a period drama filled with beautiful cars, art, music, and costumes. The direction is carried out well and a solid cast delivers excellent performances. Check it out if you haven't yet seen it.

IMDB plot summary:

One of the best newer movies i've seen lately!!

I agree with Secret-A it's not perfect and pretty straight forward....but that's the thing.........all of the other elements make it an excellent intriguing film. It's a coming of age story....the fact its' set in the 60's is awesome.....I loved the lead.....You kind of have an idea whats going to happen but it's the ride getting there that's so enjoyable!

I didn't know it was Nick Hornby til I sat down to watch it........his movies actually never leave me disappointed.

I also highly suggest checking this on out........it's on Netflix instant watch!

ok i watched it. i thought it was just ok?

i definitely agree about the cars, the costumes.. and the acting was awesome.

for me, it felt the same as when i watched high fidelity... i thought it was a great concept, but it left me disappointed (as muffy said about the filmmaker). high fidelity drove me nuts because i was very underwhelmed by it. it seemed like it was going to deliver something big and it never did.. [Frown]

i'm glad i watched it, i just didn't feel great about it afterwards.

I'm glad you gave it a chance Ronnie! I actually didn't "love" High Fidelity either...it was ok......around that time I always got it confused with Grosse Pointe Blank that everyone loves but me. The soundtrack to High Fidelity is better then the movie.

now About a Boy...awesome!!!
