I bought a bunch of newer movies at Blockbusters, because they were $5 each...and that's about what it costs to rent them...

I watched

Perfect Stranger
The Invisible

(I hated both of them)

I watched the movie "We Own the Night"-it wasn't good or bad.

The best new movie that I saw recently that I really really liked is:

Alvin and the Chipmunks

This was my favorite scene....

Anyone else like it???

I recently watched both 'The Departed' and 'Crash' I liked both but prefered 'Crash" I have a feeling though that 'The Departed' will get better with additional viewings. I also bought 'Million Dollar Baby' & 'No Country For Old Men' that have yet to be watched. So with all four of these movies I have the last four Academy Award winning Movies for best picture.

I saw Crash over a year ago...I liked it when I saw it.

The Departed looked too violent for me.

We bought the DVD..."Children of Men"- my mom said she had wanted to really see it, but she said she couldn't understand it at all after watching it.

I like the movie "Premonition".

The best movie I have seen in the past year was "Transformers". They are suppose to be filming part 2 in Bethlem, PA....which isn't too far away from me.

I liked "Next" with Nicholas Cage. It got bad reviews, but I thought it was pretty good.

I saw The Mist on Saturday. It was good, but I hated the ending. I loved the Departed when I saw it, and wound up buying the movie. Alvin and the Chipmunks was good, too. I also saw I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry on Saturday. It was funny for the most part. However, the best "newer" movie I've seen recently is Lake Dead, one of those After Dark 8 Films to Die For.

I just saw I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry on Saturday too. It was on HBO or Encore or something... It was funny.

I liked The Mist but that had to be one of the if not the most depressing endings to a movie. Dave Matthews had a funny cameo in Chuck and Larry and he also has a funny one in You Don't Mess With The Zohan.......

I want to see The Strangers. Has anyone seen that one yet?

Has anyone seen the one with Diane Lane called "Untraceable"?

I've seen Crash. I didn't get what all of the hype was about... I saw Children of men. It was good but a bit depressing... Transformers was good. I want to see Premonition. I've heard it's good. [Smile]

The Mist was good, It had a lot of really good CGI, but, I'm with you about the end. Man it sucked! I actually got p.i.s.s.e.d... [Frown]

I finally, finally got around to watching the Rob Zombie remake of Halloween...and I liked it. Sure, it was bloody and gory, but what does one expect from Rob Zombie?

Some parts of it follow the original, but the first part of the movie is totally different from the original, except for the fact that Mikey (as one of the guys at the Mental Inst. calls him) kills his sis and her bfriend. The basic premise is still the same, but Zombie did throw in some new stuff. The DVD has an alternate ending, but I didn't watch it, so I don't know how different an ending it is.

Sounds interesting though...

Thanks pettyfan...

I thought Teeth would be a laugh going by the trailer but it was the worst film I've seen all year, bored me silly.

I watched The Game Plan, with The Rock. I didn't think I would like it, but it wound up being good.

The newest movie I saw was Ocean's 13. I liked it.

Hanc*ck was pretty good, interesting story and a few really funny parts. I'd give it a 6/10 [Smile]

Posted by ISIS (Member # 1780) on :

My husband and son are at the matinee for Hanc0ck right now, I thought about going...but I have guests this weekend, so I can't really take off and leave ...but after seeing the not so great review...I figured I'd wait for DVD, if I see it at all.

What did they think of it?

Posted by ISIS (Member # 1780) on :

They said I would of hated it...they said that it was extremely violent for a PG-13 movie.

They think DJ Jazzy Jeff was the guy at the end of the movie.

My son said it was pretty good, but the end where someone gets their arm whacked off, was pretty violent.

He said Jason Bateman was in it.
I liked him from when he was on Silver Spoons.

It didn't sound like a movie that I am sorry I missed.

I finally saw The Departed. It was good. Violent, lots of cussing, a surprise ending. A good "mob" movie. 7.5/10

Really? The new one?

I love the original.

Posted by Helen_S (Member # 5804) on :

Yeah the new one. You could tell watching it it was made for no other reason than the 3D which we didn't even get in our crappy local. It was deathly boring, no highlights at all that I can think of.

Rambo (2008)

Pretty graphic violence here, but it was way better than I expected. Sly's still got it at age 60.

"When you're pushed, killing's as easy as breathing."

Hellboy 2 - Really enjoyable, I think it's a lot better than the first.

Harold and Kumar Escape from Guantanamo Bay.

I always expect the rule of sequelitis to hold sway, but this was just especially bad. I barely laughed at all the whole way through and all the vulgarity just seemed desperate this time around.

Felon

Pretty decent prison flick, but cops out with a silly ending. I had a hard time buying Stephen Dorff winning brawls. They should have stuck with the initial plotline and shown him getting systematically picked apart in prison. It would have been a lot rawer and more depressing, but much truer.

I just watched Untraceable.

I got it at Blockbusters...they had a 3 for $20 special.

I have to say...I actually thought it was a really good movie.

It wasn't as graphic as I thought it would be.

The premise of the movie is so terrifying though.

It shows how warped the world is becoming, and it pretty much reinforced the stuff about the internet that I think is so sick and twisted.

The killer in the movie would get victims.....and set them up to be tortured on video...and hooked on to a live internet website that when people logged on to look at it...the person died faster, and what was sick...was that millions of people kept logging on to watch those people die...and the FBI told them not to, that they would be accomplists to the killer....but millions of people were logging on...and would write on the website...things like as if they were fans of the killer, and were encouraging him...and that's what was sick....is I really believe something like that is possible.

My mom said...with as sick as the world is becoming, when they do movies like this one...do you think that it gives sick and twisted people ideas to actually do the things they see in movies like this?

The whole moved actually connected together really well, which I liked that...I hate movies that nothing ever makes any sense, and your left with a billion unaswered questions...this movie gave you answers to everything...but the answers were sickening....I can't go in to that part...without giving the movie away.

But...if you want to watch a new horror movie-this is the one to watch- in my opinion...it is a really good movie based in today's world...which scares me to death....
but it definately was accurate. I actually liked Diane Lane alot in this movie-it was different from alot of the roles she has been playing lately.

I liked the lead actor in it, his name is Billy Burke. Wasn't that the name of an older actress...that's a woman? That name sounds so familiar to me.

Anyway...I never saw him in anything before this...but I liked him alot in this movie.

I went and saw Tropic Thunder after hearing all the rave reviews about what a brilliant satire of Hollywood it was. I thought is was mediocre at best. None of the snipes at Hollywood are particularly original, in fact it's all the same jokes you've seen played out in a hundred other films. I thought it was pretty bad overall - not Martin Lawrence bad - but bad just the same.

Watched "The Bucket List" tonight.Starring Jack Nicholson and Morgan freeman for the first time.I enjoyed it a lot.Two of my favorite actors, doing great work as always.Yesterday i also had a rerun on Jack Nicholson`s "As Good as It Gets"That man sure is talented. He gets away with such various roles. He seldom disappoint.

I just saw Righteous Kill with De Niro and Pacino.

It was a bit too drawn out and boring at times. It was really predictable and disappointing. I give it a 5/10...

They did work well together though... [Smile]

Grace Is Gone (2007)

An oscar-worthy performance from an almost unrecognizable John Cusack in this sensitive (road)movie. It’s not your typical tearjerker, but nevertheless make sure to have some Kleenex by your side.

88 Minutes

- Very weak paint-by-numbers thriller. Does anyone else besides me think that Al Pacino needs to stop trying to dye his hair? He looks really goofy to me, like when Creed on The Office decides to de-age himself.

I've been seeing an advertisement for this new western called Appaloosa coming out tomorrow Oct. 3. Anyone else seen or heard of it? It looks decent in the previews...

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0800308/

Appaloosa is suppsoed to be quite good, and with Jeremy Irons, Ed Harris, Viggo mortensen & Rene Zelwegger on board it looks promising. I'm not a big fan of the new westerns (though I liked '3:10 to Yuma') but a huge fan of Ed Harris and since this is his second go as director after 'Pollock' its bound to be worth a look.

'Gone Baby Gone'. Excellent film, great acting all round, Ed Harris steals a few scenes, Casey Affleck did well too. Sure to become a modern classic.

I tried to watch Ironman last night, and I fell asleep. I thought I was maybe going to like it, but Robert Downey Jr. never shut up...he just rambled on and on ...and talked before anyone ever said anything, and he talked 90 mph. It had a weird flow to it, and was pretty chopped up. I couldn't believe what Jeff Bridges looked like, I would have never known it was him, if he didn't speak. My son likes it. There were some gross parts that I didn't like. There's a scene where he pulls a tube out of his nose, that was so nasty. I didn't think it was a good movie for young kids.

RDJ was the best thing about Iron Man. He fit the manneurisms of Tony Stark to a tee when compared with the comic. It flowed pretty smoothly once again a comic book fan's movie......

Dan In Real Life

Not your typical Steve Carrell fare but a very good film anyway. Found it to be a little predictable but is worth watching if you fancy some heart warming humour.

I watched BABY MAMA the other night and all I can say is "meh"....which is about the higest praise I can give a "new" movie these days. I laughed about 3 or 4 times. Was it a decent movie? Yes. A laugh riot? No.

I am trying to NETFLIX some new ones to keep hubby happy. I put HITMAN, RUN FATBOY RUN and FORGETTING SARAH MARSHALL on there. We shall see if they impress me more than BABY MAMA or not (oh well, at least i got to look at Greg Kinnear a little)

Thanks for recommending this Nowhere....I just watched this tonight and was very impressed. One of the best, newer dramas I have seen in a long time. I can't understand how some people say that there are no good newer movies being made these days with flicks like this one being shown. I highly recommend giving this a look too.

You can't go wrong with Run, Fatboy, Run.

Its not as good as Shaun of The Dead or Hot Fuzz but still a very funny film.

Run Fat NOMS Run [Cool]

glad you liked it 80'srocked [Smile] .

noms, i had heard that run, fatboy, run wasn't very good so i never bothered with it... though i should form my own opinion... but shaun of the dead was a masterpiece. definitely one of my favorite zombie movies!

Max Payne and Pride and Glory - Pretty good, I'd give them both a 7/10.
