I wanted to buy "the Jo years" but the way the set is packaged it came with Seaon One (Jo-less! Denied!) and Season two.

I remember even as a kid watching it first run thinking the first season was pretty weak. But I watched it again anyway..and yeah. I stand by my opinion. This show is lucky it ever got a chance at a second season based on that first one!

Now...I just recently watched the second one thinking "Heres where it got good", but you know what? Its really only marginally better than Season one.

I'm torn because either this means

* The show hasnt aged well or
*It didnt get good until Season three

I am going to NETFLIX (not buy) Season three and give them the benefit of the doubt that the show just got better as it went along.(except for the last season or two that started to go downhill).

The pre-fab 4 years were pretty iffy, even if it was kind of cool seeing a pre-Hughes Molly Ringwald. You are right, based on the first season, it might have gone the way of Square Pegs, unless the bigwigs knew something the public didn't.

My wife has season 1-2...I could take it or leave it. I didn't watch this one as a kid, and I think that makes a big difference....

What would have happened if they decided to keep Molly Ringwald's character on the show instead of cutting her out. She may never have had the huge movie career that she obtained.

She still would have been successful if she stayed on the show. She blossomed into a more glamour girl around 83-84.

i don't care for season 1 much. seasons 2 & 3 were better. i liked the show mainly for JO.

i am getting annoyed with the fact that they stopped releasing the dvds. one of my favorite episodes is in season 4. and i love in the later years where JO meets flyman (michael damian).

You would think with George Clooney being in the later ones, they would keep releasing seasons. But guess not.

i loved the early facts of life shows when there were many different girls. i always loved the sporty one the most though i don't recall her name. and there was a brunette who was cute too. she was the one who kind of competed with blair.

i also loved diff'rent strokes and i remember being bummed about mrs garret leaving that show for facts of life. but then i saw all of those cute girls and i knew all would be well.

it took me a little while for jo to grow on me. and the fact that the cast had been whittled down to 4 and my two favorite girls were gone. but those early jo years were great too. i think i started losing interest after they graduated high school. i still watched, but mainly for sentimental reasons.

after doing some research, i also forgot about my other favorite girl, Sue Ann. thanks to imdb.

and looking back now, i think the first season was the best.
