Last night I caught the end of a Biography episode about the Brat Pack. It's crazy to me that they talk about how old The Breakfast Club was. But, isn't it interesting how a teen movie about detention hall, actually was so well acted by those people, that it propelled them in to stardom. They say the one who did the best out of all of them, was Demi Moore.

I've seen some different Brat pack groups, who and how many were included in this Biography episode? Don't recall Demi Moore in Breakfast club.

She wasn't in The Breakfast Club, but she was part of the Brat Pack.
The members that I am sure were in it, were:
Judd Nelson Demi Moore Andrew McCarthy Molly Ringwald Emilio Estevez Rob Lowe Ally Sheedy Anthony Michael Hall

I thought a few others like John Cusack, James Spader, Matt Broderick, Charlie Sheen, Kiefer Sutherland even MJ Fox were in this category. I guess the media based it on a Hughes association, but I guess only a select few. I see about 4 movies Breakfast Club/About Last Night/Oxford Blues/St.Elsewhere being based on the 8.
I guess Demi made the most money out of the group. Rob Lowe did get some kudos for West Wing too.

The 'Brat Pack' phrase was coined about the cast of 'St. Elmo's Fire', as a reference to a new group of young Hollywood stars in general. It's pretty much accepted that the term can be stretched to include the ensemble movies 'The Breakfast Club' and 'The Outsiders' and the different movies the stars of those films also appeared in. Two other ensemble movies often considered to be Brat Pack movies are 'Taps' and 'Red Dawn'. Taps is the earliest example of a Brat Pack film, even though it often gets overlooked in favour of The Outsiders for the title of 'the first' mainly due to The Outsiders' staggering cast. It's also worth noting that even within the 80's itself there were two generations of young actors that came up. The second generation, still often credited as being Brat Packers (though technically they weren't), appeared in films like 'The Lost Boys' (the Corey's) and also included people like Keifer Sutherland, Keanu Reeves and River Phoenix.

Hey, I DVR'ed this episode. I still haven't watched it.
How bizarre, that Wiki page pretty much mirrored what I always say about the Brat Pack. It even managed to mention 'Taps' which very few people ever do when referencing Brat Pack movies (come on... Sean Penn, Tom Cruise, Timothy Hutton? That's a solid cast!)
There's still a certain amount of ambiguity and speculation in the term 'Brat Pack', and people can certainly make up their own minds. We know the phrase was coined in an article written about the cast of St. Elmo's, but from there it's up to the individual how far they think the term will stretch.

I fell in love with Jamie Gertz when I was a kid when I first saw "The Lost Boys." Even though she wasn't considered to be part of the Brat-Pack...I think she was ten times hotter than any of the women who were. I didn't get around to seeing "Less than Zero" until I was older and I fell in love with her all over again..lol.

Did you get to see Jami's stint on Square Pegs? I remember seeing Less than Zero and reacting when I saw her steamy scenes with Andrew Macarthy, saying "damn, frumpy Muffy Tepperman was never like this!"

I think I can somewhat remember her shpeel on that show..but I wasn't old enough to really be into it when it was on. Hell, I wasn't even close to old enough to watch "The Lost Boys" and "Less than Zero."..But I did anyway..lol. I always found the brainy or nerdy girls in the 80's to be the hottest anyway.

Square Pegs finally came out last year on DVD to much fanfare. Pick it up just in case it goes out of print(you never know). I like those brainy women of the 80's too, sounds like a future thread in the making. I liked that redhead on Head of the Class a bunch.
