Does anyone remember the HEATHCLIFF cartoon show from the '80s? I used to hate HEATHCLIFF (I thought he was obnoxious and preferred GARFIELD) but I liked the other show about a bunch of cats living in a junkyard. The cats were Riff-Raff, Cleo, Mungo, Wordsworth and Hector.

Does anyone else remember watching this show?

Yes!!! Last winter Boomerang showed them at 1:00 during the week. I don't know if they still do or not. I always loved this show.

Defintely one of DiC's top 5 shows, with one of the decade's best cartoon theme songs ("...but Heathcliff just won't be be undone playing pranks on everyone..."). You can never go wrong with Mel Blanc in the lead role, and even at close to 80, he was still at the top of his game as Heathcliff. The Catillac Cats made for a good second half, much more than Marmaduke had been in Heathcliff's previous, more obscure series (so obscure even I've never seen it, and in 26 years of life I've seen just about every 80s cartoon possible). Weekend afternoons on Nickelodeon were all that much better with this on.

HEATHCLIFF also teamed with DINGBAT for awhile. I didnt really care for either DINGBAT or MARMADUKE (I liked the MARMADUKE comic strips though). THE CATILLAC CATS was the perfect match for HEATHCLIFF though...they were schemers but not in the mean-spirited way HEATHCLIFF was. They were more of a mellow FERRIS BUELLER-type of schemers!

And , yeah, I STILL find that theme song running through my head every once and awhile :" Heathcliff, Heathcliff no one should , terrorize their neighborhood...."

Devolution here,

I tend to agree, it did have the best theme song. I distinctly recall the episodes of Hector the Detector, and the Mungo Mash.

Good Stuff.
