I was thinking the other day about who was on top of the world in the 80's, everything they touched turned to gold, these three very talented superstars came to mind, but was sad to think what's happened to them.
I would love to see comebacks for them, Whitney and MJ coming back with strong albums, but I'm afraid their tarnished reputations are going to prevent that. What do you think?
As for Tyson, people would love to see him put aside the craziness, arrogance and actually box, but how long can we wait? I feel he's finished.

Mike Tyson is my favorite boxer of all-time simply because of the display he put on in the ring in the 80's. It's a shame how he ruined his life. They used to show "Mike Tyson's Greatest Hits" on MSG Network all the time and I would watch it over and over. He really was amazing back then.

Once Cus D'mato died Tyson went into a tailspin in every conceivable level. D'Mato kept him grounded and focused and had no ulterior motives. Once he died every slimeball took advantage of Tyson with none of them caring about Mike; they were all in it for themselves.

It's funny you mention Whitney...I was looking at something on youtube, and I am not sure how I came to find it, but I watched the entire interview with Whitney Houston, from several years ago...The one she did on Primetime with Diane Sawyer. It was right after the pictures of her at the tribute thing they did for Michael Jackson, and they thought she looked anorexic. It is weird when you hear celebrities talking about their lives, because they are just regular people with awesome jobs and talent...but they have problems like everyone else does. I ended up watching the Britney Spears interview too, and I was thinking how similiar their lives were. When you see how miserable celebrities are...you wonder why anyone would want to be them, to me it does not look fun...alot of them seem like they don't care if they live or die.

Of the three you mentioned, I think Whitney has the best chance of a big comeback. She finally dumped that loser Bobby Brown, and has been working with Clive Davis, who had mentored her during her early years.
MJ? He is too weirded out. I know that he still has a huge legion of fans who idolize him, but his reputation with kids is too ingrained. A comeback for him would have to be a small one.
Mike Tyson is finished. His career went downhill ever since he associated with Don King in the late-80's. Tyson only has himself to blame: he fired his trainer Kevin Rooney in 1988, and it all just went downhill from there. His marriage to Robin Givens was a disaster. And when he lost to a major underdog named Buster Douglas, he just wasn't the same fighter since.

As far as Whitney goes I don't know what to believe, I heard reports that her voice isn't what it used to be due to substance abuse and what not. I dunno, could anyone suggest any reading material on her that imight shed some light as to what happened to her? I watched a behind the music show once on her life. Her relationship with Bobby Brown was crazy, I used to like his music too. Such a shame.
MJ's life I heard was similar to Brian Wilson in that hard domineering fathers treatment of their genius sons really set their outlook on life into a tailspin. I just wish so much it could be about the music with MJ, getting back to writing, the producing instead of bizarre physical appearances, child issues, all that crazy stuff. When I think of MJ, it;s like he had three lives, a child prodigy singer in a successful group, then massive solo stardom who sold more records than anyone, then this other entity who built statues for himself and became this sort of unfortunate punchline.
Mike Tyson just boggles the mind, I know Don King took him to the cleaners both financially and professionally, but didn't he go through something like 500 million dollars? He just seemed like he had too much power and money for someone who wasn't capable of being responsible with it. I know he had a rough delinquent upbringing, but you have to wonder if these three had the right handlers or were mismanaged, or even having the unmanageable tag as well.

I would say that Whitney would have the best chance at a comeback. MJ has just gotten to weird for society. MT lost it all after he bit off Evander Holyfield's ear.

I wonder what producer(s) Whitney is working with? A lot of the older artists seem to try and get with the current hot producers like Timbaland. I heard Michael Jackson was working with Will I Am from Black Eyed Peas, Kanye West and Ne-Yo on his new album.

Mike Tyson is too old to make a serious comeback in boxing. Some people have speculated about his getting into ultimate fighting, but he'd be in over his head at the top level of that sport as well.
Michael Jackson will never get anywhere close to the level of fame he enjoyed in the '80s (tabloid sensationalism aside). Few people have ever experienced that level of fame. His self-mutilation and the pedophilia accusations will forever haunt him. He could possibly have a modest comeback, but his ego is so over-inflated, he can't wrap his mind around the idea of doing anything modestly.
A big comeback for Whitney Houston, on the other hand, is entirely within the realm of possibility. Honestly, the only thing really holding it off is her own behavior. If she gets off the drugs, and assuming her voice isn't permanently shot, there's no reason she couldn't be back on top of the charts tomorrow.

Straight on journey .I really hope she gets her acts together and focus on her talent.There is lots of people just waiting for a new album from her in Europe as well.I am an optimist,and i think we will get some new stuff from her pretty soon.At least i hope so.People have to often go trough some hard times.The fighters however,Stand tall in the end.I really hope Whitney is one of them.She is one of my all time favorite singers in that category.And a new album would be very appreciated.

Her contemporaries like Celine and Mariah still tear up the charts and put out platinum albums, so there's no reason she couldn't regain her stature as well if she gets it together.
