What are some of the best most, distinguishable intro's to 80's songs? A cool riff, a weird noise, or just an amazing sound thatjust gives the song your immediate attention?

Thinking of something like Boom Boom Rock me Amadeus, boom boom Rock me Amadeus.

This intro to a Corey Heart song I love:
And no it's not Sunglasses at Night!

And the opening beat to New Order's "Blue Monday" is always a winner to me too:

When ever I hear that song - lion sleeps tonight I instantly think of john Cusack's 1987 comedy - hot pursuit which I really like,it's a different group performing the song in the movie but I instantly get that connection, same as if I ever hear level 42s lesson in love that plays at the end of hot pursuit I instantly think of the movie.

If it's a song I like anyway and it turn's up in a movie that I also really like i find it makes any future listenings of that track even more pleasurable for me.

It's the same for me when I hear 'Don't forget about me' by Simple Minds, it will always conjure the image of Judd Nelson punching air as he crosses the football field in The Breakfast Club closing frames [Smile]

Devolution here,

Even though it's 79. I always loved the real intro to "Take the Long Way Home" By Supertramp.

Was listening to some odd intros recently. Wall of Voodoo has one with Mexican Radio. No idea what they attempted to play on it.

Nice piano intro. Reminds me of 8th grade band practice for some reason. Those big blockbuster albums like songs from the big chair had like 6 singles that would be on the airwaves for two years. Now albums are gone in two months!

Another one is the long version of A Flock of Seagulls I ran. The long eerie intro where it builds up is such a keeper!

I like the noises at the beginning of Modern Love and Cities in Dust. You know those?
