Any fans of The Replacements out there?

The Replacements first caught my attention with the incredible tune "Within Your Reach" in the movie "Say Anything". To be honest, I enjoyed the tune, but never pursued it at the time. It wasn't until years later when I saw the underrated flick "Can't Hardly Wait" when I heard The Replacements tune of the same name that I became a true fan.

Other great songs are "Bast*rds of the Young", "Alex Chilton", and "I Will Dare".

I just read there is a paperback book coming out on The Replacements on Nov. 27th...count me in.

Oh and I don't know if this is an urban legend or not...but Wynona Ryder was such a big fan of The Replacements that in "Heathers", she supposedly convinced the director to name the high school "Westerburg High" after lead singer Paul Westerberg..though it it appears to be spelled wrong??? Did they date too?

Been a huge Mats fan for years. I remember seeing their infamous anti-videos with the speakers back then and wondering what they hay that was all about. I got a copy of the Let it Be album and was sold, that album, 86's Tim and 87's Pleased to meet me was an amazing string, but they never reached the sales although criticial darlings they deserved. Maybe the best rock'n'roll band of the 80's.

My thought is that they party too much and didn't care what anyone else thought. The Replacements finally made it on Saturday Night Live and instead of showing everyone their greatness...they went on stage drunk and dropped the F-bomb on live tv.

Love their movie soundtrack work! Paul Westerberg is still consider a cult hero on many fronts. Definitely a case of what might of been.
