I got this album the other week and haven't stopped listening to it. It has the great single "The Fear" plus the awesome F*** you which is a nice kissoff to George Dubya.
She has a great way with lyrics, very witty and biting.

Foo Fighters self-titled debut album. This was Grohl's post-Nirvana project that he worked on while still in Nirvana. My fave among all Foo Fighter albums. It has that gritty feeling to it that it seems all albums after it have lacked.......

I love her tunes, but even more I love her lyrics.

I've never even heard of 'The Outfield'. After checking out their wiki, I can see that the rest of Britain doesn't either.
It's strange how that happens sometimes. 'Bush' were another band that were completely unknown in the UK.

That is wierd that in the UK they dont know about Bush? Sixteen stones was a great cd and i still rock that album.Gavin is the man and he has a beautiful wife (Gwen Stefani).

Wow, I thought that everyone in the world knew that song. It is one of the best 80's pop/rock songs of all-time for sure.
Some of the other great songs on "Big Innings" are:
One Hot Country is also a good song on there. they used it on the soundtrack If Looks Could Kill staring Richard Grieco.

I once had this cd but went crazy and sold it I don´t know why. Never seen that cover art version, i had the Hericane Alice cover.

A few videos of them supporting U2 @ Giants Stadium. It's a shame that they haven't caught on in America yet -- they're too popular to open for U2 over here.
It's doing brilliantly in the charts around the world. #1 in most of the major markets. Only #3 in the US though.

I was actually impressed by it. IMO some of the songs sound like old time Alice, especially Check My Brain. Elton John plays piano on the title track. I hope they hit the Southeast on tour.....

i saw today on the yahoo page that the drummer for avenged sevenfold was found dead in his california home yesterday? so sad i love this band seen them a couple times here does anyone know what the cause of death was?

Falco: Nachtflug (1992)
What a classic album from the Bolland bros and Falco.
Album of the year for me, really. At least at this point. I'm pretty sure I won't hear a better release this year, though. I HAVE however heard many good albums this year. I guess a more contemporary-and-therefore-a-more-fitting-candidate-for-the-category would be Melechesh's latest release, The Epigenesis:
I usually do not like black metal, save for melodic (such as Agathodaimon's Phoenix) and symphonic (such as Equilibrium) bands, but these guys play an awesome, highly original variant of it. They might just have surpassed their album Emissaries with this one.

I think 'Voices Carry' is probably one of the top 50 songs of the 80s, but I can't help but think that if Cyndi Lauper had sung all of 'Til Tuesdays songs, they'd have been so much better. They just sound perfect for her.

Secret do you not like Amiee Mann? I can see what your saying totally about Cyndi....I just think Amiee's voice is so unique........I love 'Save Me' from her solo stuff later on.

Allegaeon's Fragments of Form and Function. One of the best melodic death metal albums I've heard for quite some time (although it has quite a bit of technical death metal in there as well).

Asrai: Pearls in Dirt(2007)
I love this band ..And talk about a band with persistance and staying power..this group from the Netherlands first formed back in 1985, but only has just recently seen some speck of success in the underground music scene at most. So I guess technically you can consider them an 80's band. However, mainstream success seems to be the last thing on this band's agenda. They seem quite comfortable playing in the club/goth scene and seem quite content in keeping it that way. Pearls in Dirt is their most recent studio album released in 2007..and it's a beauty if you ask me. Margriet Mol is the singer in this band and she's got to be among my favorite female vocalists out there right now. She has got a set of pipes on her. If you don't believe me, check out this video for their first, and only single off this record.
lead singer Clare Grogan has such a squeaky voice, very different! another track i like, the dreamy tune: 'love to stay'

Those figures are deceptive, though. Phil spent a lot of time in the US through the 'No Jacket' period (before and after), and thanks to that - along with MTV video rotation - he had his period of greatest success (ditto Genesis for the same reasons the following year). However, in the UK he was slightly less present, and the singles chart positions reflect that: 'Against All Odds'. 'Invisible Touch', 'One More Night', 'Separate Lives', 'Sussudio' - all US #1's - none of them UK #1's.
However, for 'But Seriously', not only was Phil present in Europe, but there was a massive TV marketing campaign for the album in the lead up to Christmas. As a result, the album topped the UK charts for something like 15 weeks (throughout Christmas) compared to the US 4 weeks.
I think his popularity from 'Against All Odds' until the end of the decade remained more or less even between the US and Europe, with maybe a peak in the US throughout '85 and '86 helped by exposure via Miami Vice and things like that. The sales figures (I believe) are more evidence that promotion - when it works - really can have an effect.
PS: Ronnie; early Whitney was great! Remember that she used to slate Madonna for being a bad role model?!

...are awesome but there are other tracks on this album that are great as well.
Too Pieces - the majority of the song is instrumental but has a terrific melody..something you'd wanna hear in the background while watching an 80s movie.
Midnight - Alison Moyet's smoky, passionate voice gets me in this one. i just love her voice.

ANGEL WITCH was one of the very first real metal bands I can recall really liking instantly. And their '81 record was certainly among the first that I played over & over to the point of driving my folks insane.

Tristania - World of Glass (2001)
Tristania is/was a very good Norwegian Goth/Symphonic Metal Band. I've listened to this band alot over the past decade, and I do enjoy almost all their records. But this one still has to be my favorite. It's got a great mixture of heavy metal, growling and operatic vocals, and dark brooding musical arrangements & orchestrations that is sure to please any fan of the genre. A true masterpiece if you ask me. So if you're a Goth Metal fan, then I highly recommend giving it a listen if you haven't already. And be sure to crank it up Loud!
A very good 80's alternative band that I'm sure alot of you are already familiar with. I've grown to enjoy this record in particular more and more over the years, and I don't think I'll ever tire of it.

FAITH NO MORE - ANGEL DUST (1992)
Going with this great record for this week. I just re-re-re-listened to this record about 3 times over the other night, and I still love it.
Mike Patton has worked in numerous bands and side projects throughout his career including bands like: Tomahawk, Fantomas, and he even still did stuff with Mr. Bungle while he was in Faith No More as well. The guy's just a work-a-holic and musical machine.
Everyone who's a fan has their own tastes and opinions on what band Patton did his best work in. For me, it's still gonna have to be Faith No More. Though it's a close call because I enjoy alot of his stuff from other bands too. Tomahawk would probably have to come in a close second to me.
But anyway, back to this great album. This album features what, in my opinion, is some of FNM's finest work. This record still has the ability to entrance me from beginning to end even 20 some-odd years later. It's just an EPIC album...pun intended;)
I love every single song on this record. So it's hard for me to pick any favorites. But if I was forced to at gunpoint, then my favorite standout tracks would have to be as follows:

Kanon Wakeshima - Lolitawork Libretto (2010)
This is a great record that has a good mix of traditional Japanese pop and Darkwave & Classical influence. If you're not a fan of Japanese music then this probably won't interest you. So, even though I am a fan of the new records, I'm hard-pressed to say I personally still prefer the old Tarja days of Nightwish over the new stuff. Nightwish: Oceanborn (1998)
This is the first Nightwish album I listened to all the way through. So it comes as no surprise that it's my favorite, and still their best..IMO, ("Once" ranks in a very close second). Tarja Turunen's angelic voice shines through brilliantly on this album. Combine that with some very nice punchy guitar riffs, (something I think that newer Nightwish records are sadly lacking), and you've got an album of epic win from beginning to end, no other way to put it. A "MUST HAVE" for any true Nightwish fan.

Kamelot - The Black Halo (2005)
The Black Halo is the seventh studio album by this great Symphonic Power Metal Band. I just only heard this band for the first time a few years ago, and I've enjoyed almost everything I've heard thus far. I don't know if this would be my particular favorite album by this band that I've heard so far, (the 2001 album "Karma" would be a heavy competitor), But it is definitely a damn good one. So go check it out.

Queensryche - Operation: Mindcrime (1988)
I know, this one's kind of a no-brainer for any kind of metalhead isn't it? But, a great album is a great album, and it's my pick for this week.
This is arguably among one of the best rock concept albums ever recorded. Mindcrime follows the story of an emotionally disturbed and gullible young man who becomes disillusioned with the society of the time and reluctantly becomes involved with a revolutionary group as an assassin of political leaders. A pretty simple and trite storyline up front, but presented effectively well on this 15-track record. This album is very melodramtic in tone and has a heavy portrayal on the corruption of Catholicism and a broken society in general. So it's kind of understandable why some might think this record is a bit much. But it is a Rock Opera after all, so you can't expect much less.
Some very good vocal range from Geoff Tate on this one. Combine that with some outstanding Duel Guitar work from Chris Degarmo and Michael Wilton, and you've got a masterpiece here. This is a great album to own for any fan of this particular brand of Progressive Hard Rock and one I can still highly recommend. Still easily the best record from this band in my book too.

Deathstars - Synthetic Generation (2004)
I'm not a huge fan of this Swedish goth band anymore because I don't think they are quite as good as they used to be when they first came about. But this debut album is still by far their best IMO. I can certainly recommend it for any gothic rock/industrial music fan to add to their collection. If you're a fan of bands like Nine Inch Nails, Rammstein, Skinny Puppy, KMFDM, Marilyn Manson, Rob Zombie...ect, then you'll probably enjoy this one. Great heavy scary music.
Fluke is an English Trance/Elecronica band mainly known for the songs of theirs that have appeared in random movies and video games, such as: The Matrix Reloaded, Wipeout game series, and Need for Speed 2. But if you're a fan of this style of music like I am, than I can definitely recommend picking up this record. Really great stuff to zone out and drift off to for awhile
Just listened both Spider albums (s/t, 1980 & Between the Lines, 1981). Excellent stuff, way ahead of it´s time. It´s a great band:

Flight of the Navigator Soundtrack (1986):
Yup, I'm going with another soundtrack this week... This movie still ranks as one of my all time favorites from my childhood. And this great all-electronic Sndtrk by Alan Silvestri is part of why it still remains to be. It's one of those soundtracks that may sound very cheesy and aged to some. But for those who still enjoy this film, there is great warmth and nostalgia within these simple synclavier melodies. And it still has the power to transport one back to their childhood from the very first opening note...at least, it does for me.

My bro has this Martin Briley package "The Mercury Years (1981-1985)" and i´ve been listening to it past two weeks. The package features his first three solo albums and some bonus tracks including the tune he made for the film All the Right Moves but they didn´t use it in the movie. Fantastic thinking man´s AOR.

THE BIRTHDAY MASSACRE - HIDE & SEEK (2012)
Going with this new one from The Birthday Massacre this week. I just got my pre-ordered copy of this album a couple days ago. And I am enjoying it thus far. There's some really good upbeat songs on this record that any fan of this band would come to expect. But also a couple pretty damn good darker more moody songs that I really am enjoying as well. Including the track that would probably have to be my favorite thus far, "Play with Fire." So, I say give this one a listen if you're a fan of this band. Or just of synth-rock in general. A good listen for Halloween time.

Helloween is easily one of my all time favorite metal bands still around today. Been a fan since around 1994 when their "Master of the Rings" album came out. Loved all their records before and after, and this one is another great one to add to the library. Highly Recommended for any classic metal fanatic!

I bought the Deluxe Collecter's Edition (as pictured in my original post) for 77,49 (in euro's that is). Whether that's worth it depends on how much you like Fleetwood Mac, and this album in particular. Personally, i'm very happy with it.
There's also a 3 cd version available which sells for around 20 euro's, i believe.

Love the Scoundrel Days album of A-Ha 1986. It was their second album and is full of dark melancholy. In America really underrated band I think, but in Europe loved during their whole carreer and even now.

I have quite a few cybergoth friends online that would probably enjoy something like this if they haven't heard it already. I'm more into straight elecrtonica or industrial myself, but this isn't bad. Way to mix things up though. Nice Pick Johnny

I picked this up at the record-store last friday (the day it was released) :
Fleetwood Mac continue to re-release their classic albums. So, after Rumours (1977) and Tusk (1979), it was time for Mirage (1982) to get the Super Deluxe treatment.
Disc 1 is the original album, newly remastered. Disc 2 has outtakes, demos, and alternate versions. Disc 3 has live recordings from their 1982 tour, including Rhiannon and Go Your Own Way. Disc 4 is an audio-only dvd. And, of course, a heavyweight vinyl repress is included as well.
The next in line will be Tango In The Night (1987), but personally i would prefer to see Fleetwood Mac's self-titled 1975 album get the Super Deluxe treatment some day !

Really, really good stuff. The album was recorded with the help of 15 separate collaborators, including Vince Clarke, Tangerine Dream and John Carpenter. Includes nice liner notes from Jarre himself.

Dark Tranquility - Atoma (2016)
Been a fan of this band for a long time and I wouldn't say this is my favorite record of theirs, but it's still a damn good one. One of the best metal records of 2016 IMO that's worth a few listen throughs if you're a fan of some good melodic metal.
