Admittedly it wasn't his most productive decade, coupled with the nadir of his drug addictions and the collapse of his marriage to Carly Simon (still, in show business, 12 years isn't that bad at all), but once he pulled himself out of the pits, he started getting the rhythm back and laid the groundwork for his 90s rennaissance with a couple memorable ones, the best of which for me would have to be Only a Dream in Rio. It may not make the most sense when you listen to the lyrics, but I just love the instruments he pulls into it (the Brazilian chanting bridge, or whichever dialect it was, was a nice flourish as well), the rainforest sounds every now and then, and how nicely and smoothly it flows from start to end.

I honestly can't think of one song JT did in the 80's, I guess the Taylor name in the 80's belonged to the Duran Duran clan and the oft troubled, but briliant linebacker for the Giants known as Lawrence.
