Technically I think this goes here since it would be 80s music. At any rate, which introduction theme was your favorite (any sport, any network)? CBS had each of my top three choices:
-the NFL Today theme in use from 1986-1990, popular known as the "Pots and Pans" theme. The ideal NFL theme should really be heavy and pounding, mirroring the game itself, and this one came the closest. Also dear to my heart as the anthem for the Gang Green Gang, since they were at their peak when this was in use
-the NCAA college basketball theme in use from 1987-1992, or as I call it the "jet engine" intro since the opening bars sound much like one starting up. In terms of pure energy, this theme beats almost any other made before or after, and has a wonderfully triumphant edge to it
-the NBA on CBS theme used from 1983 until they let the rights go to NBC in 1990 (slightly altered for the final year on the air). It perfectly fit the high tempo of the Magic-Bird glory years and easily stacks up alongside John Tesh's better known NBC theme.
