Devolution here,

1984 by Van Halen

10,100,000 albums sold
Only one number one song: Jump

1)1984
2)Jump
3)Panama
4)Top Jimmy
5)Drop Dead Legs
6)Hot for Teacher
7)I'll Wait
8)Girl Gone Bad
9)House of Pain

Ok, I owned the album making it one of the first tapes that I ever bought with my own money. Many people think that a lot of the success of the album had to do with Eddie Van Halen playing guitar on "Beat it" a year earlier.

My opinion: 3 rockin songs that elevate the album to a rating of 7.5 out of 10.

My reason, Hot For Teacher and Panama remain 2 of the greatest driving in the car songs of all time. Jump was great when I was 9, but has lost it over the years. The great swan song for Van Halen before they became Van Hagar.

I wouldn't know any of the other songs because they didn't do it for me at all.

Album : 7.5
Need to own the album : (Only if it's on sale)

Until #18 -

Cheers Devo - I've been a little rushed this week, so haven't managed to get round to installment #2.

I'll look up some other info I might have (unless you have the same books as me!) to add...
