Blender magazine lists the top 50 worst music artists of all time

I like some of these listed but can also see how they could make this list.

The only one I truly have to dispute is The Doors. I think they were truly a great band.

What happened to #38?

Okay, I may have to kick their asses for naming Whitesnake among the worst. And Yes- where is #38? Howared Jones music= every tiem I hear one of his songs, I cannot get it outta my head for a week.
Lee Greenwood looks mighty haggard these days. However, I was in Vegas the week after 9-11, and when we went to Belaggio in the evening to watch the fountains, they played "God Bless the USA" during each fountain show, and it brought a tear to my eye. Cars were literally stopped on the street and the people in the cars were singing along. (I know, I know- idiots always stop along Las Vegas Blvd. to watch the fountains in their cars, but they don't normally wind down their windows and sing along with Lee Greenwood)

Wow, "In a gadda da vida" was the first LP to go platinum. Who'd have thought?

There were a couple on the list that I actually like. I'm a fan of Crash Test Dummies particularly.

The only 2 I disagree with are Kansas & Whitesnake.

One time BLENDER had a bad song list that had a WHITESNAKE song on it and I sent them an angry letter!

I like WHITESNAKE
THE DOORS
LIVE
YNGWIE MALMSTEEN
HOWARD JONES and
ASIA

I laughed my *** off reading the MANOWAR one. My friend knew a girl who was a "MANOWAR groupie" and I remember thinking that was very, very sad.

I love Air Supply, Starship, Kansas and Dan Fogelberg.

I also like The Hooters, Whitesnake, 98 degrees, Color Me Bad, Howard Jones, and Asia.

I actually do think The Doors stunk and were completely over rated...I never liked one song of theirs, their music is annoying and the lyrics absolutely sound like someone was on drugs when they wrote them.

It was a combination of drugs and all the different readings and philosophies that Jim Morrison read and believed in. Most of them were popular philosophies of the drug sub-culture of the late 60s and early 70s. But I still loved their music and think they are one of the most influential bands of all time.

Like I said I do like some of the artists on the list but I also see how they made the list.

I disagree with a lot of the artists on this list. I must say that I like the following artists (some out of genuine like and some just for camp value):

-Mike + The Mechanics

-Whitesnake

-The Doors

-The Hooters

-Richard Marx

-Skinny Puppy

-Color Me Badd

-Bad English

-Primus

-The Alan Parsons Project

-Howard Jones

-Oingo Boingo

-Mick Jagger

-Asia

-Kansas

-Insane Clown Posse

See? I can be pretty diverse also. [Wink] [Smile]

Sincerely,

John Kilduff

Let's all remember one thing: This is only somebody's opinion. I agree some of their choices are a joke. For example, Asia, The Doors, Whitesnake, Kansas, and Mike + the Mechanics should not have made the list. They were quality groups! This is just one meathead from the elite media who wanted to spout off at the mouth. Take it for what it's worth--- a grain of freakin' salt.

Long live 80's Hair Metal---- Peace out...

Right, everyone is entitled to thir own opinion (s). BUT how can this person live with themselves after putting WHITESNAKE ON that list and leaving, say, RIGHT SAID FRED OFF?!

I haven't read the list yet, but I must say that I'm not a big fan of The Doors. I liked some of their songs, but I think that group has got to be the most overrated and undercritized rock band of all-time.

If Jim Morrison were alive today, he would be doing Las Vegas revue shows singing his old hits! Not exactly the kind of thing you'd expect from the so-called "Lizard King", eh? [Smile]

I really, really like Live. Just wanted to point that out. As for the Doors, I liked them too. Jim Morrison mighta been a little freaky, but hey, to each his own, right?

I'm sorry, I don't agree, the Doors were one of the best American bands of all time. They explored darker themes and made real art compared to some of their hippy contemporaries. Like Hendrix, when they dropped their album in 1966, there was nothing like them before or since. It's just a shame that Jim had to self-distruct and get fat and everything. I don't agree that he would be doing Vegas now if he lived, he actually preffered to be a filmmaker and poet rather than a rock star, and if he lived he probably would have made some cool films.

These Blender cats and their lists are ridiculous, they mainly list bands they don't like just to get a rise out of people. To each his own.

Keep in mind that most of the folks who make these lists have no musical talent or any talent at all for that matter and as a result they choose to question other's musical talents. WTF with puttin Blind Melon, Oingo Boingo, Whitesnake, and the Doors on a list like this? If it were up to these talentless p i s s ant so-called magazine people, we'd all be listening to crappy music all the time....
