Very sad, it says that he never really recovered from his stroke a few years back.

spookily enough, I was just about to listen to 'Dance With My Father Again' when I read this sad news. Richard Whiteley, Tigger and uncle Luther are dead, may their legends live on forever.

I'll miss him.

He did a great music video for the song "Give Me The Reason", which was his contribution to the "Ruthless People" soundtrack. He inserted himself into scenes from the movie and they used video trickery to mess with the clips. For example, Luther grabbed Sam Stone's bottle of poison, held and dropped Sandy Kessler's gun and took a drink from Sam's bottle of champagne. It was really funny.

The man was one of the greats of our time.

R.I.P to Luther Vandross

Sincerely,

John Kilduff

I was riding the bicycle at the YMCA when I saw the info pop up on the screen and I actually gasped. I love "Here and Now", I don't know if I ever said it or not but that song holds a very special meaning in my life and actually the anniversary of the special day was July 2, 1990. He will be truly missed he had such an awesome voice that was so soothing. It is such a loss to the music industry.

Wow! That's awful, he was only 54. They said he had hypertension and diabetes...which probably contributed to the stroke, but WOW....that is too young to die.

What a bummer, I didn't know about it until just now. I always liked the song "Stop to Love"...when he was younger he was a really good looking guy too, and he was always dressed really nice.

i just listened to his cover of 'endless love' feat. mariah carey. i like that version better than the original with lionel richie & diana ross. i wasn't a big fan of his, but my mom is. i also liked 'never too much' and 'here and now'....one of the ultimate wedding songs.

Two people called me immediatley after finding out about his death. My husband, who was in a car and pulled over on the side of the road to call me on his cel(!) and my sister who was working out at a gym when she heard it on the radio.
Luther could really belt out a love song. HERE AND NOW has been and will continue to be played at many weddings.

It's still a shock that he went at 54, funny he never had any children.
