Hi everyone!
My husband and I are hosting our Family Reunion this year. It's a pretty big event that spands 3 days and usually has about 150 in attendance. This will be our 41st year of having it, and Rick and I's first time hosting it. Every year there is a theme for Saturday night. We came up with the "Disco" theme. We have a DJ and the hotel is doing the decorations. I would LOVE some ideas on some "70's" and "disco" style type games. I thought of having a "Tony Menaro" dance contest, but other than that......I'm clueless [Frown] Anything that anyone can contribute would be excellent!! Also, music!! I know The Bee Gees and Donna Summer are "must have's".....are there any others??

Thanks everyone! [Smile]
Lisa

This is the place Lisa!! Check it out:

www.Shindigz.com

There is a whole section on disco stuff, they have the coolest stuff, order a catalog from them, they have giant cardboard standee things, there's a cut out of a Volkswagon with the big daisies on it, and there's disco balls and all kinds of neat stuff. I am ordering some neat Halloween stuff from there. Anyone else doing any kind of party, check this place out, it is the neatest thing I have ever seen.

Play KC and the Sunshine Band-that is the best music....Get down tonight, Boogie Man, Shake Your Booty, you can dance like crazy to that stuff. Definately the Bee Gees. Get the song- Do the Hustle-that's a great song.

Have fun!! I love themed parties!

One little key-note is to write on the invitations that everyone has to dress '70s. When we threw '70s partys the more gung-ho guests really got duded up in pimp suits and ABBA costumes and the people who dont wanna get dressed up wear bellbottom jeans and KISS t-shirts. Doing the KISS make-up is a good idea too.
Since you have a DJ I'm sure they'll know what to play (ABBA,KC,Donna Summer,Chic,BeeGees,ELO etc.)
Dancing contests are always fun. So is lip-synching or karaoke. Also you can show movies like GREASE,SATURDAY NIGHT FEVER,ROCKY....other '70s movies or TV shows like THE BRADY BUNCH.
I think the only real effort is getting people to dress up....after that these partys usually have a great flow as long as theres plenty of good music, food and drink.
Good luck.
Oh yeah....you also can do little goody bags with '70s Smiley face stuff,Pac Man stuff etc.
They sell these kind of party favors at www.orientaltrading.com

Thanks for all the great idea's!!! The reunion is not till July, but as you know.....these things take alot of planning and I don't want to wait till the last minute to come up with ideas! I will look up both the web sites you provided. Isis.....I cant believe I forgot about KC and the Sunshine Band!! [Eek!] And Mamamia.....I love the idea about Karakoe to 70's type songs!! I'll have to check with our DJ to see if he has a machine. The movies are a great idea too. Maybe I'll have a midnight movie for the kids. Can you think of any 70's movies that were more for kids?? If you have any more idea's, let me know......I welcome ANY!!! [Big Grin]
