I have heard that there is a new film called Freaky Friday coming out with Jaime Lee Curtis, is it a remake of the 70's film with Jodie Foster and Barbara Harris... I used to love that film and i cant imagin the new one being as good as the first one... Has anyone seen the new one?

I have not seen either the original or the remake version. Besides, it was made by Disney, so you just know they're going to remake their own stories to death! Yuck! [Frown]

Most of critic's review books that I have indicate that the original was suprisingly pretty good.

I suppose that if I had to see it, I'll see the original first, and the remake at a much later time. But I'm not in any hurry to see either one at all!

Also, wasn't there an "unofficial" remake of "Freaky Friday" anyways, back in the late 80's? I remember that in 1987, there were THREE different movies that all had the same story, but with a slight gender difference: instead of the female teenager and her mother switching bodies, the 80's films had the *male* teen and his dad switching bodies. What films were those?

yes Steven. there was like father, like son (1987) starring dudley moore and kirk cameron. also, vice versa (1988) with judge reinhold and fred savage. both films were about the father and son, switching bodies. i haven't seen either in a long time.

i have only seen the shelly long version of freaky friday and i thought it was terrible. i am sure i will watch the latest version with jamie lee curtis, cause it looks like it would have some funny moments in it.

I think the previews for the new Freaky Friday look awful, I wouldn't watch it if you paid me. The new versions of everything are crap. The original Freaky Friday was with Jodie Foster and Barbara Harris, and I loved that one, I have been trying to get a copy of it for a long time, but it is OOP, and I always got out bid on it. I have the book. Watch the old one, I guarantee it's better than the new, and I haven't or won't watch the new one.

I think they also had a FREAKY FRIDAY TV movie with Shelly Long a couple of years ago. Believe me, the remake is NOT that bad. I went with my 5 year old and my 10 year old niec and we all liked it.

Sorry Ronnie...I have given Disney too many shots lately and was left wondering what the heck happened. Just like getting up and leaving the Pirates of the Caribbean. Too violent for kids. I know it was PG-13, but why when there is nothing to take kids to the movies to see, why not cut some of that violence out, make it more humorous. I have no intention of ever watching the rest of it, that's how mad it made me. Freaky Friday...I can't even go the ads for it...or even the pictures of it....Like Jamie Lee Curtis would ever wear an outfit that they use in the ads, in the switched picture. And when they smash in to each other..that is dumb, not funny, and her saying she looks like the Crypt Keeper- that's dumb too. I don't even laugh at the humor they put in to movies any more, I don't think it is funny, and it has all been done before.
