i loved this movie.
it's about a gang of greaser friends (the wanderers) and teenage high jinks in the 60s, plus dramatic scenes with gang fighting and family issues.
the soundtrack is great, including the suitable song, THE WANDERER by dion and the belmonts.

linda manz, who plays pee wee, creeped me out in this movie. i also saw her in a movie not that long ago where she played an even more weird role. infact, several characters in this film are a bit weird, but make the movie inetresting.

i still need to order the dvd. i have never seen a store carry this one.

Lunita...this is indeed a good movie with Karen Allen, Ken Wahl, Alan Rosenberg [married to Marg Helgenberger these days]. Linda Manz was great in "Days of Heaven" then she fell of the edge of the earth, until rediscovered by the new alternative cinema generation...it was probably "Gummo" that you save her in.

"The Wanderers" is a good slice of life story, taking place in a working class Brooklyn [?] neighborhood. I'm not crazy about anything with a '50s setting, but it's a good story and fun to watch some people when they were just starting their careers.

Of course, I also have a soft spot for anything showing real eyetalians in their element...paisan!

That whole GUMMO movie was putrid. I couldnt watch it. (Dont even recall having a PeeWee sighting).
PeeWee sort of freaked me out a little too....at first I couldnt tell if she was a boy or a girl and then I couldnt tell how old she was supposed to be. The actress was 17 or 18 when they filmed the movie but was PeeWee supposed to be, like 12 years old? Her hero worship would lead you to think so. So when I saw her making out with the big old Baldie guy I sort of had discomfort.

I think the freakiest scene was probably the guy LEAVING church to go outside and stab someone!!!!

And, yes, my husband was calling us Ducky Boys for days after watching this.

Pretty good movie. Most cant help but compare it to WARRIORS and I actually like WARRIORS better...but apples and oranges: WANDERERS were the 50s and WARRIORS were the 70s.

Coincidentally, the original story of 'The Warriors' was set in the 50's, and I believe it was about an Italian-American gang.

I'm pretty sure the bridge scene in 'The Wanderers" made many guys cringe in pain.

Is this bridge scene where the Duckie Boys attack Alan Rosenberg's character...if so, yes that would be more 'eeee-yew' than "An Officer & a Gentleman" for sure.

Oh yeah...I forgot about that.
They had tied rocks to their....ummmm...rhymes with "rocks"....and threw the rocks in the water which was going to either
a. make you fall in the water too
or
b. rip off a part of you you dont want ripped off

...SPOILER....
...But the ropes were REAAAAALLY long so no one got hurt.
No privates were harmed in the making of this movie.

Hahahahahaha.........................

I have to watch this movie again!

I just went to IMDB to check it out...interesting FAQs about Ken Wahl...he was such a hottie back in "Fort Apache The Bronx" but he sure was messed up in his personal life.

Okay...so he got in a motercycle accident and got addicted to pain killers. He also started drinking and had a fight with a bar who refused to continue serving him. He threatened the bartender. He got in trouble for that.
Then he married one of the Barbi twins. (Ken and Barbi....ar,ar,ar)

I thought it was interesting that 'Ken Wahl' is in honor of the guy who saved his dad's life...if true, that is way cool.

I saw the Barbi Twins E True Hollywood Story and they are just plain weird...I don't care how big their **** are...they are whacked.

They always looked like afghan dogs to me.
One of them had an eating disorder, right? Dont know if thats the one married to Ken Wahl.
I just remember hearing Howard Stern dissing on her that her priorities were all screwed up :wanting to have a size 2 body and size 38DD breasts.

They both must have had eating disorders to look so unnaturally thin...plus all the plastic surgery...ugh!

Since Ken Wahl had already been married to a Penthous Pet, I guess the next step up had to be a Playboy centerfold...whatever dude.

This discussion about Ken Wahl reminded me of an article that I read in 'Rolling Stone' magazine sometime in the mid-80's.

The article was about Bette Midler and her experiences filming a scene with Ken Wahl in the flop movie "Jinxed" (1982). After the movie came out, it was all over the gossip tabloids that the two didn't get along with each other during the filming.

Bette Midler was quoted as having said, "Ken Wahl said to me, 'You remind me of my dog'. I'm thinking, 'You mean, you make love to your dog?'"

I did not see "Jinxed", but judging from what I read about it, it's pretty bad, and the negative vibe during the filming probably showed in the movie. Supposedly, even Bette Midler fans were let down by this one.

I remember that "Jinxed" stuff...yeah, it was supposedly among the worst mixing of personalities during the filming...kinda like "Gigli." LOL
