Just bought and watched this wonderful movie.

Featuring great cast including Peter O´Toole, Mariel Hemingway,
Vincent Spano and Virginia Madsen.
O´Toole is simply incredible.

I´m surprised that i can´t find anything about this movie here.

this is a heartwarming and intelligent drama/comedy.
Highly recommended!

This is one of my favorite movies of all time. Despite it's overt, but gently understated, religious theme (I'm an atheist), I find the film to be heartwarming, beautiful and charming. One of Peter O'Toole's finest performances given against an otherwise much younger cast of then relatively unknowns, including Virginia Madsen, Vincent Spano, and a brilliant performance from Mariel Hemingway.

I completely recommend this movie to anyone who hasn't seen it. Rent it now.

Voice of dissent here: I liked some of the movie; the cast were very good, but it struck me that the emotional through line was very jumpy (and over-sentimental). It also felt like it was poorly edited and seemed like there were scenes cut out. When I looked online it turned out I was right - there were chunks cut out! It appears the studio might've removed a substantial amount of the movie (which explains the jumpy feel). I thought (in the state it is) that is was a fair failure rather than a success.
