Like Wacko, this is a very good early 80s horror movie spoof.
It was written and directed by Michael Ritchie (Fletch etc.) and Mickey Rose
but because it was filmed during a strike, only Rose is credited.

Student Bodies parodies movies like Carnival of Souls, Black Christmas, Carrie, Halloween, When a Stranger Calls, The Shining, Friday the 13th, and Prom Night.

The cast includes bunch of nobodies but they all did at least decent job.
I would´ve loved to see sexy Kristen Riter in other films. Sadly this is the only one she ever did.

I also like the crazy Janitor called Malvert played by a comedian known only as "The Stick".
Whan an amazing fella [Smile]

The great opening sequence takes place on Jamie Lee Curtis´ birthday,
You get to know Breather´s hilarious killing methods and see the onscreen body count and warning notes.
I loved those cool ideas!

It´s definitely old school, it´s stupid but fun and it has lots of on-going jokes. Me likes!

That VHS cover design is a classic from the heyday of video-rental stores.

I never saw Student Bodies back in the day, but i do have the region 1 dvd laying around somewhere.
It was released by Legend Films, along with several other Paramount catalogue titles,
including Framed (1974), The Sender (1982), Baby It's You (1983), and Blue City (1986).

Now if only i could find the time to actually watch these...

Now that i've come to think about it..

this probably makes for an interesting double-feature with National Lampoon's Class Reunion (1982).

Ooh, nice.. i didn't know that.

If i didn't have the Student Bodies dvd, i would have definitely bought that blu-ray double-feature release.

I don't own that Jekyll & Hyde movie, but i don't think i would consider double-dipping Student Bodies, to be honest...

unless it's really cheap, of course. [Big Grin]
