This is a great high-tech action thriller.
Written by John Carpenter and directed by Harry Cokliss.

Starring Tommy Lee Jones, Linda Hamilton, Robert Vaughn, Richard Jaeckel, Lee Ving and Bubba Smith.
Jones and Hamilton are awesome!

I also like Lalo Schifrin´s electronic score very much.

Here´s the trailer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tRoNmR87dek

Pretty good B-movie. Films like this and 'Trancers' always take me straight back to the golden age of video.

''Black Moon Rising" .. first off .. the movie has a cool name..  and Tommy Lee Jones and Linda Hamilton shine in before they were stars roles.

The film is kind of a caper movie, where the FBI  hires a freelance thief named Quint (Jones) to break into the accounting department of a private company to obtain records needed in a grand jury investigation.

 -

Things go bad .. Quint's eventually hides the records he has stolen in the trunk of the prototype of a new Hi-tech car called The Black Moon, which itself is then stolen by Hamilton's character.  I know.. but it is actually way better than it might sound.

 -

I always enjoy checking out all the supposedly hi-tech gadgets in 80's movies and this movie is loaded with then.  The car phone Hamilton uses at one point appears to be borrowed from Jake Ryan it is so huge!  Overall, the gadgets are great though.

 -

Personally, I prefer the car in "The Wraith" over this car!

aTomiK.. do you recommend this film too?

I enjoyed this film and would like to view it again, although the scene with the kick to the privates will make you double over.

Unfortunately Linda Hamilton can never outdo her performance in the original Terminator. She was spectacular in that.

i have this on a region 1 anchorbay dvd,i really enjoy it,it has a great cast, some good action scenes plus a cool looking car,i agree with valley it's not quite as cool as the interceptor in the wraith but it's still pretty cool all the same.

 -

director harley cokliss also directed probably my all time fave burt reynolds flick the very underated 1987 thriller malone.

also i wonder how it would of turned out if john carpenter had directed black moon rising as well as written it?

I dunno but Carpenter would have definitely added a more haunting score.

I definitely recommend this movie!

Lots of great Black Moon Rising art released around the world.
Some movies have that something which makes artists grab their pencils and airbrushes [Smile]
