"West Point graduate lieutenant Jeff Knight meets cynicism when taking command of sergeant Michael McNamara's tour veterans platoon
in a Vietnamese trench camp. Unlike his predecessor, who hid till the end of his tour,
Jeff takes charge, experiences the manual doesn't allow coping with all realities and gets wounded.
He returns, now fully respect by men and superiors.
Besides the Vietcong, the platoon wrestles with the inscrutable villagers, which the GIs officially protect,
but also fear as some collaborate with them, other covertly with the Cong, either way subject to bloody reprisals. (IMDB)

Watched this pretty good Cannon International Vietnam war flick last night.
It was directed by Aaron Norris and damn this guy loves explosions [Smile]
Check out Delta Force 2 for more proof.

The movie stars Michael Dudikoff, Robert F. Lyons, Michael DeLorenzo, Jesse Dabson, Rick Fitts and genre veteran William Smith as Major Flynn.

The movie starts pretty slowly but once you get to know the characters,
it gets better and you even care about the guys.
You get to see some nasty main character death scenes.

I was surprised that this was filmed in South Africa, not in the east as usual.
Some great locations though, the waterfall sequence etc.

The score is pretty good, no wonder because it was composed once again by George S. Clinton.

Lots of helicopters, nice action scenes and somehow the living in the camp looked very believable to me.
Cool movie!

this is another great 80s dudikoff/cannon flick, the one thing that surprised me with platoon leader was how touching some of the scenes were, when dudikoff's platoon radio operator gets blown up and george s clinton's powerful music score kicks in i must admit it brought a bit of a lump to my throat - i think i'm becoming a bit soppy here [Big Grin]

aaron norris does a great job of directing and i thought robert f lyons was excellent as the platoon seargant.highly recomended.

Platoon Leader is a MEN´s movie but it includes few emotional scenes.
We can be a bit soppy sometimes but only for a second or two [Big Grin]
