I finally have the "Back To the Future" 25th Anniversary Blu-ray in my paws!

Here's what I know, but I have just put the disc in my PS3, so I'll know more later:

Picture quality is excellent at least for the original movie.. (VC-1 encoded 1080p 1.85:1)

Audio is so good that I currently look like Marty McFly in the picture below! (Lossless DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1)

 -

Extras it proclaims on the box to have a new 6-part documentary filmed in HD. So awesome

Okay.. just had to share.. I'm off to watch the original BTTF on Blu-ray!!

Kev.. it's actually not available until Oct. 26th, but I scored a copy early. I'm not suppose to tell anyone that I got it, but hey.. we're all friends here right?

Just finished watching the original BTTF and it was a total blast. It almost felt like I was watching it for the first time all over again.

I remember a huge complaint from the last box set BTTF trilogy was the fact that 2nd and 3rd movie had a cropped/zoomed look. Well, I just put the 2nd movie in and the new blu-ray release has totally been fixed in that regard.

If you love BTTF .. this Blu-ray trilogy is a must!

I've had some time to dig into the extras and they are quite impressive.

To this point, I've watched the first movie straight up without any bells and whistles .. the picture and sound are so brilliant that you will notice things about the movie you might not have ever seen or heard before.

Next, I watched the new HD extras.. I was hoping for more footage of Eric Stoltz as Marty, but we've pretty much seen the majority of what they released of it from the earlier links. The new content on Disc 1 gives you the backstory of how Back To The Future came about .. great input from Michael J. Fox and Lea Thompson throughout.

I'm now watching the original movie again with an incredible pop-up trivia track.

There are new extras on disc 2 and 3 as well.. so I've got so much more still to go, but overall this is an outstanding blu-ray set.

So back to Willy's question.. should you buy it .. especially if you already own the dvd trilogy?

My answer is this.. if you have an HD tv with a nice surround set-up and BTTF is a movie that you truly love.. I highly recommend the upgrade. I would also recommend it to folks that enjoy diving into extras.. it is loaded. Another great feature is the U-Control that HD-DVD owners kmow quite well.. it allows you to watch the movie and enjoy some of the extras at the same time.

If BTTF is not necessary a fav flick and then maybe you should just stick with the DVD set because it was a nice package with extras as well.

Finally, if you are someone named 'Earth Angel' then go get it immediately even if your current tv reminds of the one from 1955 that they were watching Jackie Gleason on.. you will love this upgrade anyway!!

Does anyone know if this is available in Blue-ray by itself. Can't bring myself to pay $60 for the trilogy, but wouldn't mind paying $20-$25 for #1. * Shamefully, I've owned parts 2 and 3 forever....but have never seen them. Not sure why....BTTF is one of my all time favs, but no real desire to see the others....

Kev... what are you saying?! Neither sequel is as good as the first, but come on - they're both very entertaining! I think part 2 has some great moments! Biff steals the show!

WATCH THEM! You might find you want the trilogy on Blu-Ray after all [Wink]

I agree with Logan. Similar to kev, I'm partial to the original and probably watch it at around a 5 to 1 rate in comparsion to the other two movies.. but the sequels are still fun flicks and worth watching.

Part 2 is a blast to see visions of a BTTF future.. especially since we are closing in on that date now.
