Watched this awesome Australian teen movie called Street Hero yesterday.
The film was directed by Michael Pattison and stars Vince Colosimo, Sigrid Thornton, Sandy Gore, Bill Hunter and Ray Marshall.

"Vinnie is a teenage boy who is an outcast at school, alienating teachers and students alike.
He is a local courier for the local Mafia boss. He lives in welfare housing with his mother, a young brother and sister,
and his Mum's lover who he can't stand. Vinnie takes out his aggression with the world practicing boxing at the local gym.
He is haunted by images of his father (when just a boy he witnessed his father's murder) and his father's boxing career.
His music teacher encourages him to get involved as a drummer with the school band,
and his girlfriend Gloria and others influence him to stay away from the Mafia." (Wikipedia)

I think that this was a great story, sometimes very sad but there´s always light at the end of the tunnel.
Colosimo did a good job, playing the leading role. He looks really cool with his red jacket.

I loved the school scenes (Western City High) and the school band practice and band contest sequences.
The tune they play is just fantastic.

The soundtrack is one of the best i´ve ever heard including artists and bands
like Jon English, Dear Enemy, Dragon, Leo Sayer and Sharon O’Neill.
There´s also few excellent montages in the film.

Dragon - Wilderworld

Jon English & Renee Geyer - Every Beat of My Heart

I know that a dvd has been released, at least in Australia.
Check it out if you can find it. Recommended!

Make this short and sweet as it's getting into the wee hours of the morning here in the UK but watched street hero this morning and thought it was great, like atomik mentioned above the soundtrack is totally awesome, that tune that the school band plays atomik they have playing on a loop on the DVD menu screen and unlike other menu screens where sometimes they drive you mad with the same bit playing over and over you could just let this one play and listen to the music,a great tune.

I had a booklet come with my DVD of other Australian movies and it had the delinquents with Kylie minogue,I've never seen it and I was wondering if it's worth a watch?

I liked it.
Good love story set in 1950s.
Starring Kylie Minogue and Charlie Schlatter (18 Again!, Heartbreak Hotel).
