This special celebrates its silver anniversary this week. After Christmas Eve on Sesame Street, this was their best special, and you even learn a few things about art too (thanks to this, I knew the basics of the Osiris myth long before I would have learned it in school). The main story of Big Bird and Snuffleupagus (in his final hurrah as a technically imaginary character) helping the Egyptian prince become a star is surprisingly sweet, and the other characters get great moments as well, from Oscar's ode to the museum's broken statues to Grover's friendship with "Max" the suit of armor to Cookie's frequently thwarted efforts to eat the pictures as the title infers (leading to the single funniest end joke in the show's long history where he demolishes the hot dog stand out front in a fit of pure hunger), it all works wonderfully.
