Last night my husband went out with his friends and I wanted to watch a movie. My daughter was hangin' about so I had to pick something that wasn't a Horror movie. I ended up picking STAND BY ME.
When it ended I took the DVD out and went to put it away...and then I noticed the box said there was a Making Of segment on the DVD so I popped it back in and watched that.
THEN I watched the movie all over again with rob Reiner's commentary.
My daughter was like "Wow- you must really love that movie to sit here and watch it over and over again!"
But you know what? I could! This would definately be a good choice for a Deserted Island DVD! I could sit there and watch it over and over again...its THAT good!

always been a personal favourite of mine too. I've also been known to watch the same movie back-to-back so I can listen to the commentary during the second viewing.

i've done the same also. and just recently, i watched this movie with my daughter..i hadn't seen it in so long. to me, it was one of those movies i couldn't watch after a while, because i seen it too many times and i got old for me... same goes for the breakfast club - can't watch it anymore.
but when i watched stand by me with my kid, i had forgotten a lot of scenes, so it was almost like watching it for the first time. i had almost forgotten that john cusack was in it, 'til i saw him pop up on the screen. i love john!

anyway, i was glad i watched it, i appreciated it so much more than i did before.

It's so cool to watch any movie with the commentary to learn how they came up with certain scenes and ideas. Some things are quite fascinating.
