Okay, my memory on this is hazy, but here goes..
Around 1987 I was on vacation with my family and a movie came on TV- it was about some young girl who was becoming a model, and a guy who photographed her around some very California-esque settings. Most notably, the song "California Sun" by the Rivieras was used. Was the first time I'd ever heard it. Anyone know what movie this is?

That can't be it- the plot doesn't match up. In the one I'm thinking about, there's a photographer, and he's showing a new girl the ropes as a model. Doesn't sound like Back to the Beach at all.
Any other guesses?

It's the only 80s movie to have the song you mention in the soundtrack. Might be worth looking a little deeper at?

Hey Paul.........How can you look up a song and know what movies it was in?? I never get it to be correct on imdb?

1. Go to IMDB.COM 2 In the header, next to the box where you type in the search words, click o the link that says MORE 2. Scroll down, and there's a search option for Keywords. Type the search words, and in the dropdown next to this, select Soundtracks.
Generally, this works OK if the song is on the soundtrack album, or more than just incidental music.
Oh, and TV Movies are included in the above search.

oh snap i know what movie you are talking about.... i think. it was made for tv and i think i saw it a while back on Lifetime channel. i'll check around and let you know what i find.

ok, the movie i was thinking of was Shattered Innocence, a made for tv movie from 1988. a young girl starts off as a model and then eventually poses nude and turns to porn.. and drugs. could that be the one you are talking about?
