My favourite character might be Rudy too, although I like all of them including 'Scary German Guy' if he counts. One thing I noticed and I might be over thinking but, at the end of the guys meeting with Scary German Guy, one of them says to him :" You sure know a lot about monsters!" and he replies "Now you come to mention it, I suppose I do" do you think he was referring to Hitler? I say this because he had a tatoo on his hand, a number, which I think people were marked with if they were to be executed.
If it is I'm sure glad they didn't get him.
I like Sean's father as well, a cool guyalthough I think the film borrows a little bit too much from E.T. and The Goonies, but I still think it's cool in it's own right.
I wish I was still in gang like theirs (I'm a bit too old though).
I haven't seen much of the kids since but at least they were all in something very special. Who else thought it was cool that Sean and his dad would watch films at the back of their house over looking a drive-in movie theatre? We don't have those in England. -

I live in England, and recently Monster Squad was on Five. At the end before Sean says "We're the Monster Squad!" there was a montage accompanied by the song 'Rock Until You Drop'. It was pretty cool as the video versionI have doesn't contain this.
Sometimes it's worthwhile recording a movie when it gets shown on tv just to see if there's anything extra. A Nightmare On Elm Street 3 is a god example, as usually at the beginning they have a pop song (although I'm not sure of the name)during the first scene or Dokken's 'Into The Fire'.
