Kind of a geeky topic, but I just got thinking about all the cool stuff in the 80's like the villains in cartoon series like Transformers and GI Joe. Even though Destro looked pretty cool with the Chrome head, I sort of like Megatron and his tirades about ruling the worl and the Autobots standing in his way. Hey, not many topics lately I guess.

I never really watched either series, so I can't judge between them.

I did a topic along these veins a few months back, although I think it was erased when the forums were upgraded. If I had to pick the very best cartoon villain of the 80s on TV (and they came up with quite a few good ones), it would probably be a 3-way tie between Dr. Claw (he actually does attempt to kill people--and with no apparent qualms about endangering children--with every weapon in the book apart from guns), Mumm-Ra (a truly terrifying character design, particular whenever he transforms into his "Super Pharaoh" form, and at least he's smart enough not to surround himself with idiots), and Samhaine (pure raw power, he always gave the Ghostbusters a complete run for their money every time he tried to "bring about Halloween eternal" and knew how to use the people (or spirits in his first apperance when he whips Slimer senseless) against them).

On the big screen, I'd have to go with Ursula. One can easily compare her whole scheme with Ariel to the concept of child abuse, or at least the rampant 80s drug dealing scene (hence her octopus design is very fitting). There's just something that screams Nazism in her habit of polyping her "clients" who are of no further use to her. What's even more frightening is how we don't know the full extent of her plan until the very end; although she frequently says how she's going to make Triton pay, it still comes as a nasty shock when she polyps him for his daughter's sake.

Additionally, perhaps you could make this a regular thread pitting the best 80s animated villains against each other (say, for example, Skeletor vs. Venger or Gargamel vs. Magica de Spell).
