Keep chatting to the 'older' guys at work about 80's films, mainly comedies and one of them recommended Stripes.
Now i think Bill Murray back in the day was awesome, films like Ghostbusters, Scrooged, Groundhog day, but noticed that Stripes was an early film, 1981!!!

So was hoping you guys could let me know what its like??

Thanks.

I thought it was great back in the ealry 80s but seems more than a little dated these days, the first half of the film is VERY good but falls away quite abit in the second half.....def worth watching though!

Stripes is certainly a strong part of the Bill Murray canon. It's early in his career, but Caddyshack was a year before that, and it remains one of Murray's very best performances.

My favorite characters in Stripes were Ox (John Candy) and Sgt. Hulka (Warren Oates). I agree with Saint, though. The first part is better. That's the basic training portion, where Oates dominates every scene he's in, and the rest of the cast is solid. The end of the movie is basically Murray and Ramis. Not as funny.
