I was looking on a Hollywood Teen Movie trivia site today and I realized that the 80's have definitely had the most amount of sequels. Think about it:

Back to the Future 1, 2 and 3
Porky's 1, 2, and 3
Lethal Weapon (started in the 80s and have gone through 4 movies)
Police Academy 1-6

I know that there are many more to list here. Don't you think that the sequel was really born in the 80s????

Maybe so. But here's my question: Where was the Lost Boys 2?? Hmm?? [Smile] [Wink] I would have loved a sequel, because I always swore that Grandpa was really the head vampire.

Thank god you said "most amount" as opposed to "best" when mentioning the Police Academy series!

Which leads me to another question: What 80's film had the best sequel?

pettyfan- I read the script for the sequel "The Lost Girls" and believe me, it's best that they just left the movie be because it was terrible. If there's one thing I hate about sequels, it's when the same idea is supposed to be "fresh" just because it's with similar characters, different gender/age (especially if said character is a child or other relation to the original characters).

I didn't know there was a "Lost Girls." Where'd you find the script?

It's floating around the internet--Think The Lost Boys, except with...y'know, girls. And Kiefer's character is back (the end of the first one had him staked with deer antlers, which aren't wooden). And some whacky vampire shenanigans of course. I think there was a really funny scene with the Frog Brothers and Sam raiding a party together, but that was about the best part. I didn't really care about the almost-vampire girls, though. I'll see if I can find a link to the script and post it here.

That would be awesome if they would make The Lost Girls. I think that would be a great turn to the Lost Boys and maybe there could be some cameos from the "Boys".

Well, the plot was basically about Sam and the Frog Brothers and some new girls. It was the same problem, different movie, but it was just a big rip-off to cash in on the first movie. The original characters were written pretty well, but it just wasn't good enough to be a real movie I think. I didn't like the girl they centered it around (she was turning into a vampire, and Sam's love interest, and she may or may not have had an annoying little sister who I think was turning into a vampire as well). I fail to remember why Kiefer's character was there at all. Plus I'm pretty sure all the vamps from the first movie were killed except for him, and Michael was off at college or some other thing, so he didn't appear at all. That was actually good because I liked Sam better anyway.

That sounds like the makings of a Sci-Fi Channel movie special. I wonder if Coolio and Stephen Baldwin were in it?

No, but I hear good things about Lou Diamond Phillips.
