I was glad to see they did a little segment about the Iron Ons- in the 80's..I lived in a small town, but we had a whole store called Designs Alive, and they had the different style t-shirts, and you could pick out an iron on, and they had the big iron press thing that steamed it on your shirt, and you could get lettering and stick your name on the back, they did hats, and it was awesome. I remember for my high school graduation party, we had 2 "booby" prizes- 1 for a girl and one for a guy, we went to goodwill and bought a huge bra, like a 44 double D, and then had that place iron on-"booby prize"-on each cup, and then we got a pair of men's underwear with a hamburger on them, that said "where's the beef?..I remember getting a purple shirt with a picture of my sign-Virgo-on it, and I loved that shirt, but it did what they all do, and started to peel off. Does anyone else remember those iron ons?? I never understood why those went out of fashion either.

My Dad used to have one with the rock group QUEEN on it.I think it was printed at a sea-side town(UK). It was grey coloured and quite baggy and...yes the image peeled off eventually.

My parents both got shirts that said I'm hers and I'm his on them in bright rainbow 80's iron on fashion! Then where ever we went on vacation I would always get an iron on shirt of whatever city we were in with some sort of cartoon onit and the name of where we were. I think only one was a ringer tee though...

I would love to know exactly what I had for iron-ons. I'm, pretty sure it was Star Wars circa 77-78. I was so freakin young!

I had loads of those. Mainly rock-band iron ons. I also had a Donkey Kong one when I was really young.

Oh yeah...I vividly remember the T-Shirt Store in our neighborhood. It was a shop upstairs and you had to go up a long staircase to get up there. Me and my older sister used to go all the time. I'm pretty sure from age 4 - 10 she got me a t-shirt there every year for my birthday (sometimes I got to pick out the one I wanted). I know The Big Thing for me were the ones that had either a puppy or a kitten and sayings like NAUGHTY BUT NICE on them. Like you said, you could put your name on the back and we usually did.

I remember being shocked when that place went out of business. But I guess the crummy way the picture peeled off is why people no longer make shirts this way. Hahaha. I cant belive Mom put those in the dryer: Maybe if she hung 'em out to dry they would have lasted longer!
