This has literally taken years to get to the stage it is now.

www.somekindofwonderful.org

There doesn't seem to be a lot of information about this movie, and what is available, is scattered all over the place. So, I initially started collecting and researching this information, and the site basically grew from there. Not so much a fan site, more of a everything you ever wanted to know about the movie, the script, the novel, the soundtrack, etc.

It's certainly not finished, but given the amount of effort gone into it, I thought it was better to release it, than have it doing nothing. Even if you don't like movie you will no doubt find some of the information interesting. Or at the very least appreciate the amount of work and research that has gone into it.

If you analyse and research the movie as much as we did, you eventually come across things that otherwise may be overlooked.

One interesting continuity error we did find, is in the party scene. The scene alteration is well documented, but check out the actor change on Keith's right arm! It would appear that they got the cast back after production had finished (or at least very late into production) to re-shoot the later part of the scene, only that original actor couldn't make it.

Perhaps one other thing of interest is the actor credited as "Waitress". There is no waitress seen in the movie, only waiters. There is however, a waitress in the original version of the restaurant scene. This may mean the restaurant scene was re-shot also.

We have really exhausted our abilities to find anymore information about this movie. I suppose now that the site is active, people may approach us with information, rather than the other way around.

I do have a wish list for this site, if anyone's interested:

I would love to get my hands on a TV only version of this movie, for the alternative dialogue, and image gallery. Unfortunately, where I live I have only ever seen it shown in the full DVD (theatrical) release.

A complete version of the script would be nice, and if anyone has one, an alternative draft to the one we sourced.

Finding the remaining filming locations (specifically the Gas Station, and confirming whether the LA County Museum of Art was actually used for the Art Museum scene).

Obtaining pictures of what the filming locations look like today. None of us who worked on the site live in the USA, so I can only hope some fan is kind enough to take on this task at some point.

Determining where the song Pretty In Pink features in this movie, or if it was used in a scene that was eventually omitted from the movie.

Confirming what actually happened regarding the re-shot scene(s).

Rob.

Wow Rob that is one cool site. You should be proud of the work you put into it.

Now all you need is an acknowledgement page for Paul Shrimpton better known as Mr. Watts (he wished once upon a time), because he is a true fan of the movie and would appreciate all the tidbits of info you have gathered over the years.

Sweet site, I didn't know that Lea didn't think she was beautiful enough to play Amanda. Strange that someone as gorgeous as Lea Thompson would think that when the part was written for Molly Ringwald, who doesn't hold a candle, really.
