A long, LOONG time ago, my parents were watching a movie as I was off in my own little world, being a kid. I caught part of it, however, and thought it was freakin' WEIRD. There was some plant talking and people getting killed . . . I didn't really think much of it though because bloody people being wrapped up and laughing gas killing people wasn't really my cup of tea as a toddler growing into a little kid.

I later found out that the movie was Little Shop of Horrors, but I have yet to ever see it again. I saw it in the bargain rack for $5.50 one day, but I bought Transylvania 6-5000 instead, as it didn't really pick up my interest.

Earlier tonight, though, I was reading the page on it here, and what little memory I had of it was coming back to me. It's actually sounding pretty good. I'm thinking about buying it after Christmas.

What do you guys think? Does anyone recommend it?

'Little Shop' is absolutely, most definately reccommended, from the grems to miss lupa! Its one of my all-time favourite movies/muscials, and I'm sure if you enjoyed 'Earth Girls Are Easy' for its humour and enjoyable songs, you will probably enjoy this (even more so) at the age that you are now!

The cast are terrific... Rick Moranis and Ellen Greene are so brilliant to watch, plus Steve Martin manages to steal the movie from under him (with the few scenes that he is in) as the sadistic dentist you just have to love.

The songs are so easy to remember and pick up, and you will soon enough be using that voice of yours along with the cast... my personal favourites are "little shop of horrors," "skid row," "dentist," "feed me," "da-doo," and "green mother from outta space!"

Its pretty dark in tone, but the movie is pure fun and very enjoyable. I do actually prefer this version over the original with Jack Nicholson... and I quite love the ending to this one even though they decided to change it.

In all, I can't see any fault with this movie.... even though the special effects look a little dated, they hold up well with the broadway look that Frank Oz probably intended.

I say buy the DVD, miss lupa! Its very inexpensive, yet you might end up really liking it! I'm glad to help you!

All right, it's settled then! I figured it'd be fun--I was looking through the cast, and since I only saw it once so long ago, I didn't remember that any of them were in it. Some of my favorite actors are in it--It sounds good, then.

Thanks a lot, Grems! This has helped!

(What's funny if that I thought of Earth Girls Are Easy when I found out it was a musical--Only, y'know, a real one with more than three songs. [Wink] )

I read about the different endings, too, and I'm glad it was changed. I never really liked movies where the main characters die--Except maybe The Dead Zone and Wolf Girl. And Beetlejuice. [Wink]

It's good I didn't have the movie on my Christmas list. [Wink] I've got all of my Christmas shopping done, and since I've been helping my dad with some work stuff, I earned a bit of moolah. I just finished ordering the movie, as well as all three Evil Dead movies. Yayness!

If I can remember (bad memory, heh), I'll let you know what I thought of the movie when it gets here!

I just had to watch this movie again after talking about it, and I can't believe I missed off one of my favourite songs.... "Suddenly Seymour!" Hey, it seems as though I love them all!

I hadn't watched 'Little Shop' for a while and I was pretty much in the mood for a sing-song! I hope you enjoy the movie as much as I do too Miss Lupa!

I saw the stage show for this earlier this year - they played the original ending, which is only hinted at in the movie.

You enjoy yourself, Lupa!

I just got it today and watched it. What a movie! The songs were really catchy, and Steve Martin was off the wall. I was really surprised at how good of a voice Rick Moranis had. O.o Audrey II was scary at first, but the voice fit, and he kinda grew on you. So many familiar faces popped up!

Good movie--I think I'll watch it again tonight! It was great. I loved the style.

[Big Grin] I watched it again last night--It was like two in the morning when I finished. Now I've got the "Dentist" song stuck in my head, complete with a picture of Steve Martin taking off the leather jacket and revealing his work attire.

Audrey II's voice just gets stuck in your head, doesn't it?

Levi Stubbs (of The Four Tops) does indeed have one of those voices, lupa! I was brought up with a lot of Soul and Motown, so his distinctive style is very familiar. It also works very well with this movie too.

What amazes me most though, is how Ellen Greene (Audrey) transforms into the ultimate powerhouse singer - most notably in the 'Suddenly Seymour' song near to the end! If you would compare her there, than to the "somewhere thats green" number.... absolutely great stuff! [Smile]

Yeah, and the special features on the DVD were neat, too, with outtakes and deleted scenes.

Ellen Greene certainly changes the character when she sings--When I started watching it, the character didn't impress me, but she started singing and she just grew on me. It was great.

I think I'm annoying my family by watching it so much. [Wink]

Have you any favourite songs from the movie, lupa?! You have already mentioned the 'dentist' one.... I was just wondering if there were anymore that you can't help but sing along to?!

I actually own the soundtrack on CD as well! [Wink]

Oh, man, all the songs get stuck in my head!

"Mean Green Mother" was a good one, and of course the "Dentist" one, and . . . I don't really know the names of all of them, but I loved the one Seymour and Audrey II sang after watching Orin hit Audrey. The "Little Shop of Horrors" song was pretty catchy as well.

Good buy, grems. [Wink]
