Just got this DVD off of EBay. I forgot how great a movie it was. But I was disappointed by the lack of extras. All that is on mine is "Play Movie" and "Scene Selection." I still loved the movie though. I wish they would release a DVD version with some extras although I am satisfied with the fact that at least there is a DVD...

At least they released it on DVD [Smile] there are still a pile of 80s films I wish they'd release on DVD: The Wizard, Explorers, Frog Dreaming, Howard the Duck, Fandango, D.A.R.Y.L., BMX Bandits, RAD, Flight of the Navigator etc. etc.

Which version did you get, US, UK or Aussie? guessing either US or Aussie as the UK does have an extra feature, a "photo library"...

Where is it that you work and how can I get hold of the DVD?

I've heard a rumour that it's due for release in August in the US I think, and I've found it's available on R2 from Italy: http://www.dvd.it/index.cgi?page=dett&froms=Y&arti=26171 widescreen (don't know if anamorphic) with an English audio track but it's 2.0 while the Italians get 5.1 :\

Off to order a couple of copies anyway...

I'll have to get back to you on that during a later date, I ordered two copies of the Italian release over the weekend (one to keep one to sell on eBay UK) and am about to shell out a silly amount for RAD (1986) PAL format VHS... hope it's worth it as I haven't seen it before!
Will definitely get back to you on Flight of the Navigator DVD as I'm interested to see what the R1 release is like and wether it's better than the Italian R2 release.

I have 3 versions of this Awesome movie DVD(The Wraith), the UK, US, and AUS version, the best is the AUS version, the UK is by far the worst of the 3 [Frown] , the US version was only slightly better but transferred from just as bad of source material. [Frown]

This is my favourite movie, I've got so much Wraith related stuff [Cool] I even have 2 copies on VHS, the original release and that crappy copy released in EP format, UGH! [Confused]

P.S. Wizard, I hope I'm not too late, but before shelling out that ridiculous amount of money for the VHS of RAD, check this out. RAD DVD

There's one Wraith thing you probably don't own unless you were very lucky or shelled out a small fortune for, the original sountrack CD [Smile] it keeps getting $150+ on eBay, I got the LP for £10 and recently transferred it to CD, not as clear as the original CD but very good and it's saved me some $130 [Big Grin]

You're a bit late on the RAD thing, the £30 VHS I got was ex-rental but had never been rented so it was in perfect condition (well as perfect as VHS gets) and I just last night finished a quick transfer of it to DVD-R until I can get myself a new VCR so I can do a better transfer.
The DVD auction says "Please understand that the quality is not perfect." meaning that copy is transferred from VHS too, but it's NTSC format and my VHS/DVD-R is PAL format.

Actually, I do have the Soundtrack, 3 versions of it too [Wink] I have it on LP, Cassette, and I have it on CD from Japan, which was far superior in production to the German CD release. [Cool]

My Wraith collection is huge, I even have a Hot Wheels toy of the Dodge/PPG M4S Turbo Interceptor. [Big Grin]

Ah, ok, and yeah, I did notice he transferred from VHS, but I mailed him out of curiosity and he told me that the original (VHS) source material was of excellent quality still, but that's cool that you got an excellent copy and did it too [Cool] , I was just trying to lend a helping hand to a fellow 80's lover. That's one annoying thing about the internet, no matter what you've got that's rare, someone else has something even rarer to make you insanely jealous (it's the original soundtrack CD that got me) [Wink]
But I do have a nice (growing) collection of rare 80s films on original VHS which aren't released on DVD [Cool]

Does one of your VHS's of The Wraith have that metallic cover to it? I picked up the ex-rental VHS because it has the metallic cover even though I have the Aussie DVD.

Hehehe, indeed, and cool, I don't have a whole lot when it comes to VHS anymore [Frown]

No, both of mine are American releases, are you talking about the UK Special Edition DVD and VHS? I know that version has a metallic silver cover. [Smile]

That would be the AUS version (I have one) [Wink] the best of all of them. [Cool]
