You mean real as in a real movie or the phenomenon known as St Elmo's fire?

Both are real and St Elmos Fire can be seen in many northern countries like Russia, Scotland, Scandinavia, Canada. It is caused by charged particles from the sun reacting with the earths atmosphere.

Generally in Scotland or England, it is referred to as "The Northern Lights".

St. Elmo's Fire is mostly a North American Expression.

Hope that helps.

Hey Nick, sorry to be a bit geeky here, but St Elmo's Fire (the phenomenon) isn't the Northern Lights. It was a phenomenon really seen back in the days of the old sailing ships of the 17th and 18th Centuries. What happened (and bear in mind I'm doing this from memory remembering old science lessons from school) it was electrically charges particles in the atmosphere that gathered around things like masts, church spires and latterly aircraft wings in stormy or unsettled weather. During thunderstorms, the air becomes statically charged, and this grounds itself at the nearest convenient earthing point, usually one of the above mentioned masts or suchlike.

OK, geeks hat off.

Laura, as far as the UK vhs goes, go to http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B00004CJX0/qid%3D1028144120/026-7858930-7996465 (you probably need to type this or cut/paste to your address bar in your browser. They have 6 copies (as of 8:45pm Wed 31 July UK-time) that are selling from £9.99. They may be used, but hey, they will be compatible with your player.

The other thing to try is Blackstar, they will search for a copy for you.

OK, OK. So you're a better physicist... ;))))

I'm sure a lot of people confuse it though. <wink>

As far as the movie is concerned, don't waste your time with VHS, get the excellent DVD with a very good directors commentary.

In either case, use the red search device we have provided on the page or Paul's suggestions :))))))))
