Hello,

What are Movies that are like the "Karate Kid" Movies (Especially the "The Next Karate Kid" Movie!)?
ANY ONE?
People have told me, "No Retreat, No Surrender ( [Big Grin] )", before. Haven't seen it, but, from Previews it sounds good!

Thank you alot, ahead of time, for your Replies to me!

Regards,
Kristy!

hey kristy
i dont think there are any films quite the same as kk in my opinion, i think there are a lot of movies with the same theme, like no retreat no surrender

NRNS is extremely 80's and cheesy...but thats what makes it so funny..the end fight scenes are very well done, except for the last 30 seconds when the music starts, jason is coming back beating up van damme, there are soooo many edit screw ups it looks ridicules, but still entertaining.
i find the some of the rocky movies a bit simillar to karate kid, ofcourse rocky is not a kid learning martial arts, its boxing..i think you said in an earlier post kristy that you didnt like boxing, but i love those movies with a passion [Karate Kid]

in the other thread, there are some other movies mentioned that i havent seen yet [Wink]

Hey Knock out Boy (!), [Big Grin]

How have you been?

Great to see ya!

Very nice to see that you still come here, too!

I'm just curious, but, do ya know what the Movie "Iron Girl" is?
Some one (From here, I think!) once Recommanded it (A long time ago.), before. I could be wrong, though. Sorry, if I am.

Oh, also, what's the latest (News-wise.), about Karate Kid?
Anything?

Regards,
Kristy! [Big Grin]

I've seen the "karate kid" many times, and it has undoubtingly served as the model for future movies of its type. I mean how many people could honestly say that there was even one significant difference between "Sidekicks" and "The Karate Kid."
What I believe made the Karate Kid so great was that it was the first movie of its kind to ever come out. What I believe makes the Karate Kid even a great movie right now is the fact that its characters and themes, do not get old and anachronistic with time.

I might be way of the mark here but does anyone agree that the Rocky films are a bit like the Karate Kid films. Rocky is the underdog and so is Daniel. In each film their opponents get tougher. They both have their mentors who teach them right from wrong. Rocky has Micky and Daniel has Miyagi.

lotrgirl, first of all, everybody who has seen the kk trilogy knows that kk2 and kk3 are out of order. The japanese guy in kk2 could probably take johnny and the kk3 moron together. It would make much more sense in terms of plot to have kk3 follow kk1 and not kk2, but the creators messed up, no doubt.
Although there does seem to be similarities between the karate kid and rocky, it does not seem to be deliberate in any way. But since the movies came out at around similar years, there is little surprise that these popular fighting movies would be somehow similar.

I've never actually thought of it that way but now that you mention it, i agree that Rocky and Karate Kid share a similar story plot and theme.

Just been to the trivia section and it says that Rocky and KK were made by the same producer/director team. Spooky eh?
