I put this thread here as the films I've seen don't just fit into one decade, so I thought this being a "Talk About What You Like" section, her would be best.

I have only seen a few, Rats: Night Of Terror, Robowar and Shocking Dark but I like the low budget and raw nature of film production and all round construction of them.
Yes I know the acting it as bad as daytime American Soap Opera and the editing can be bad, but I don't care, I like the films and the stories being told.

Are there any other fans out there?

I have three Bruno Mattei dvd´s:

Caligula and Messalina (1981)
Violence in a Women´s Prison (1982)
Rats: Night of Terror (1984)

And i´m gonna get Hell of the Living Dead (1981) soon.

Violence was a fun WIP flick. I´m gonna check out the other two sometime soon.

I haven't seen the first two aTomiK, are they good?

Most obscure thread? I like it [Big Grin] . Cheers Crash.

Joe D'Amato, is that the guy who did the Visual Effects for Iron Man?

Not likely. Joe D'Amato passed away in 1999.
He's probably best known for directing several of the Black Emanuelle movies in the 70s, and some
notoriously nasty horrors around 1980, such as Anthropophagous the Beast.

The dvd format has been kind to Bruno Mattei's movies. I have about a dozen or so of his movies
on dvd, including his extremely nasty ventures into the nazi death camp genre, some nunsploitation,
the completely over-the-top Womens Prison Massacre (a sort of sequel to Violence in a Women's Prison),
and his belated return to the cannibal genre in the new millenium.
Apparently Mattei also finished Zombie 3 (1988) after Lucio Fulci walked out when he already had
shot about two-thirds of the movie.

I must look into them. Good information there too thanks Johnny.
I must see how many of his films are one D.V.D.

D'Amato's stuff is legendary. JRiR is on the money. Anthropophagous has George Eastman as a cannibal, and you won't believe it. Emmanuelle in America is one of the most notorious films ever. It has fake snuff film footage that looks so realistic that D'Amato got in trouble with the law. Emmanuelle Around the World is super sick too.

I own only three Joe D'Amato films:

Blue Angel Cafe (1989)
Emanuelle and the White Slave Trade (1978)
Emanuelle and the Last Cannibals (1977)

I´ve only watched White Slave Trade so far and it was a riot [Big Grin] [Big Grin]

To whoever is interested in Joe D'Amato.. Get the Black Emanuelle dvd box-sets released by
Severin Films in 2007..
Not tomorrow.. today ! I mean it ! [Big Grin]

They're among the best exploitation dvd-releases ever !

Some of the Media Blasters sub-divisions (Shriek Show, Exploitation Digital) released some stuff
from both D'Amato as well as Mattei on region 1 dvd.
Easily available Mattei movies are SS Girls, The Other Hell, The Nun from Monza (reasonably subtle for Mattei standards),
Hell of the Living Dead (in Europe better known as Zombie Creeping Flesh) and Rats : Night of Terror
both released by Anchor Bay and re-released by Blue Underground, and Women's Prison Massacre
released by Shock-o-Rama.
(beware though : they released 2 versions.. their first release was heavily cut. Only the second
one was the full uncut version)

Some of his later movies are available on more obscure, hard-to-get Italian and / or German dvds.

Bruno Mattei died in 2007, but he can be seen in interview segments on several of the American dvds.

We are going to scare people away with all this talk of Mattei and D'Amato. LOL

Seriously, if you like exploitation films, are bored, and think that you've seen it all, guess again. These guys made films like they were from another planet. [Smile] But you can't be easily offended because there is something to offend everyone here.

LOL

oh well.. [Big Grin]

European exploitation and horror movies from the 70s and (early) 80s have always been despised
by many, while loved by others.
Movies such as the Black Emanuelle series, Italian zombie- and cannibal movies, and lots more
will always have a strong fanbase and cult-following..
and i'm proud to be part of it ! [Big Grin]

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Some months ago we discussed Mattei's Strike Commando (1987) on another thread.
I really can't get enough of the trailer for that one : www.youtube.com/watch?v=UtAyJPuKuMY

aTomiK, don't you have an old ex-rental vhs of Strike Commando laying around somewhere ? [Smile]

Joe D'Amato looks like another great to look into.
It's only in the past few years I have gotten into the more European film's. They seem more brutal.
I got a VHS Rip of Strike Commando. It's got sub titles, in Chinese I think.

Thanks for the information. That's great.

Well, if you want brutal, you should definitely check out Ruggero Deodato's House by the Edge of the Park
and Cannibal Holocaust.

They're about as brutal as it's gonna get ! [Big Grin]

Catchy tune indeed [Smile]

www.youtube.com/watch?v=MndBWuEBi4g

Lots of European exploitation films out there with really terrific soundtracks.
My absolute favorite comes from Joe D'Amato's Emanuelle in America :

(click that last link, and prepare to have that tune stuck in your head for quite some time) [Big Grin]

Here's a Bruno Mattei dvd update :

Last november, US dvd label Intervision (currently a subdivision of Severin Films) released
Mondo Cannibal and In The Land Of The Cannibals.
And on february 10th, they will add Island Of The Living Dead and Zombies; The Beginning to their dvd catalogue.

All four are latter-day Mattei splatter-fests, so no classic Italian horror to be found here..
but still, if you're in the mood for some ultra cheezy zombie / cannibal, intestines-spewing fun,
you can always rely on good ol' Bruno to deliver the goods ! [Smile]

There's some great films on Severin Film's list.

Video Nasties: the Definitive Guide Part 1 & 2 is a good list in itself, plenty there to keep you entertained.

https://lwlies.com/articles/video-nasties-ranked-from-worst-to-best/

There is great artwork on many of the films.

https://severin-films.com/

Cannibal Ferox is a nasty classic.
Great to see both Strike Commando's getting a blu ray release.
