Since Halloween isn't celebrated in every country...I was wondering what everyone's favorite fall memory is?

Yesterday...after I got my braces off...I went to my home town and saw my brother. I got pizza from the place we use to get it from on every Friday night. It was really weird....I took my son with me...and every time I go there...I take him past my elementary school, and past the house I grew up in, and I show him all the things that have changed.

Well...I happened to be going through everything when school just let out, and it was weird to see other kids walking down the sidewalks from school, just like I did...and I thought about what Fall was like, and if it was warm, how I loved to kick the leaves, and when I got home ..we'd rake them all in a pile and run off our hill and jump in them...sometimes we would hide in them and hoped that someone we knew would happen to walk by so we could jump out and scare them.

Tomorrow night, I am going to help my son carve a pumpkin...he hates gutting them and scooping out all the seeds...but I love that stuff...I love the smell of fall...it reminds me of being a kid...the smell of dried leaves, and pumpkin seeds. I loved when my mom would make homemade soup or chili for super and she'd make fresh rolls-I loved the smell of bread baking.

I loved riding my bike in the fall.

I love this time of year....from Halloween to Thanksgiving...I love looking at the scenery. I had the most gorgeous drive yesterday.

Favorite fall memory?

I recall a set of really steep stairs that I took a tumble down when I was seven. That really hurt!

Oh, and there was an oak tree where I stood on a branch that looked a lot stronger than it actually was...... Still, thankfully no bones broken.

Fall memories? Too many to mention. I seem to recall a period in the mid 80's when some friends and I would gather all these fallen chestnuts, and peel them or whatever and put them in baskets to be taken home for decoration. We alson had these contests where we would put cans on top of posts and use the chestnuts to knock them down.

That's cool Riptide, we use to do that kind of stuff too, it is amazing the stuff you could think up to do outside. We had a black walnut tree in our backyard and we use to love to crack them open and eat them. I loved climbing trees- any time of the year. We even made a tree cabin.

Picking up leaves, carving pumpkins, harvest time, you are so right with what you could do back then. Nowadays youngsters would be discouraged to pick up chestnuts or leaves as it interferes with their cell phone time.

Hanging out at the "teen club" on Ft. Monmouth NJ, (Army base) with my buddies sneaking beers out back and it would get cold... The wind would blow, and at night it was deserted. I used to walk across the base about 5 miles every night to get back home. It was cold and windy at times and I would see shadows moving at times. This would keep you on your toes when you were all alone late at night! I have always loved the cold crisp air during the fall.
