Just wondering what people are doing with this one? I have approx 100+ 80's movies on DVD...and I like to keep everything in the same format. I feel like I just replaced all my 80's VHS with DVD...now do I make the jump to HD or Blueray, or keep buying regular DVDs? What's everybody else doing...and...can anyone lend me some money to upgrade (hee hee)?

I'm waiting to see which format wins out before I switch over to anything (looks like the scale's starting to tip in Blu-Ray's facorite somewhat).

We got a blu-ray and love it! The only thing that stinks about blu-ray right now is that Universal won't release any of their movies (old and new) in this format as of yet. Actually I guess it is Universal that stinks!

Yes, this is the big thing right now. It is looking like Blu-Ray is taking the lead.

Also, there just aren't that many 80's films (or catalog titles period) out on either format yet.

Most of the HD-DVD and Blu-Ray releases are of newer films... once one format emerges I can't wait for all the classics [Big Grin]

Moving this to the Social Club - just to keep the 80s movie board on topic. feel free to continue discussing it there.

You are all much more patient than I am. I bought the HD DVD add on for my Xbox 360 and got Transformers and Mission Impoosible 1,2,3 for it. I have since got a PS3 with blu-ray but don't have any movies other than the very poor Open Season which came free with it. Quality wise they are both amazing but it looks like Blu-Ray has won the war with only Universal backing HD DVd now. Still, I don't care because I should soon be able to get some cheap movies for the HD DVD player and it upscales normal DVD's much better than the PS3 in my opinion. If you own a XBOX 360 then for £99 you can buy the HD DVD add on with 5 free discs and for that price you really can't go wrong. Trust me, with the 100's of titles out already (some of which are still HD DVD exclusives) its still a bargain.
