Terd, I agree, most of the movies now are complete 💩. But I am hoping this will be a good action flick!

I started a post on this a few days ago and then got distracted [Smile]

I am looking forward to seeing it, not sure when and how but I will as soon as I can.

I usually watch these remakes or sequels of our beloved 80s movies with a certain amount of trepidation but in this case I don't have the same feeling, it's the one I'm most looking forward to.

We went on Friday afternoon. GO SEE IT! You will love it! I want to go again, but this time around to the IMAX theater! Note: NO Kelly McGillis, no Meg Ryan- not needed for this story. A Meg cameo would’ve been nice, but I don’t know how they would’ve included her into the story.

Thirty some years after the original for the first sequel? Too late. A few years after the original would have been acceptable but this is just too little too late.

So the place I work for likes each department to do a bonding day once or twice a year. Paid for by the company and someone suggested going to the theater to see TOP GUN and that's what we agreed on. So not only was it free, i got paid to watch it since we do these during working hours. I would not have been disappointed if i paid to see it as thought it was pretty good. I was lost on the Jennifer Connelly role. I was not sure who she was in the original.

So I managed to watch it when it hit the streaming services, I can say I enjoyed it but I really don't think I immersed myself in it enough to get the full effect, I felt a little empty after it.

I will watch it again in the coming days when the summer rush is over and I can shut everyone out and turn the audio up to 11.

I hadn't seen the original in such a long time that I didn't think I would get hit with the emotion that I knew they would be going for but I did big time. Was nearly crying at the end. I loved it. The chemistry between Tom and Jennifer felt very real and the Val Kilmer scene was super touching. Nine times out of ten something in me just switches off with long action packed finales but I didn't for even a second here, it was exhilarating. 8/10

I've watched this quite a few times now, I really enjoyed it from the first viewing and still enjoying the subsequent ones, this was a sequel I was really looking forward to without much trepidation.

I couldn't connect with the Rooster character for two thirds of the movie, I really cant put my finger on why, I can understand his sometimes moody persona but I couldn't like him at all. The Rooster "Talk to me dad" while flying through the valley was a little cringe, although he really come alive after this in the last 3rd with a little humour thrown in and his interactions with Maverick.

The more I watch it the more I find Penny character acceptable, I really didn't on my first watch but she has grown on me.

We didn't see much of ice man, one scene and some hearsay of his exploits to save Maverick but what we did and the character I really connected, I didn't like him in the original movie even at the end, I may look on him differently in the original now, only time will tell.
