Hi guys,

I need your help, I am organizing a 80's party for a friend and would like to have some ideas on what 80's foods to make. I already looked at various websites and got some tips, but if you can think of any more, it would be much appreciated.

I always say "sushi and pizza" for food and "wine coolers and JOLT cola" for drinks.

You can still find TAB soda on store shelves (I bought some last year) and it still tastes like absolute ***. That was still popular in the 80's along with "JUST FOR THE TASTE OF IT!" Diet Coke.
Pepsi Free is loooooong gone, and I'm pretty sure Orange Crush is no longer made.

Wine Coolers are a given, but sadly they aren't the same stuff from the 80's..back then they actually used wine..today, thanks to the way wine is taxed, they are all "malt beverages" like Zima, etc.

I miss alot of the old snacks they had...Tater'Skins by Keebler were absolutely great, or O'Boisies. Still many of the 80's staples are still available today....we're still eating the same popular junk foods.

If you want to make your party 80's, I'd suggest buying a whole bunch of fake 80's raybans and making people wear them, then arranging finger sandwiches (cut into triangles and other simple geometric shapes of course) on a mirror, of course if you can put some NEON ARTWORK up on the wall or on the table near the sandwiches...thats 80's.

Lastly...pile a huge mound of confectioners sugar on another mirror and cut out some lines with a razorblade [Big Grin] Nobody will mistake what decade you're referring to.

I agree on the wine coolers and Jolt.

But sushi and pizza? What's so exclusively 80's about them? They were around long before the 80's came along!

I had no idea, but they still make Tato Skins under a new name [Eek!]

They seem to be called 'TGI Friday's Potato Skins'

I must obtain some!

I hope they are the same as I remember [Big Grin]

I remember "Pop Rocks" candy from the '80's that slightly fizzed/exploded in your mouth - great memories of eating that. I think they still produce this...

For whatever reason, I never drank "Tab" back in the day - I guess I was more into Coke & Sprite. For nostalgic purposes, I got some for the first time around 2002/2003, when I saw it being sold in a "limited edition" pack @ Target. And, it tasted like crap! I'm surprised it was so popular back in the '80's, given that it tasted so terrible.

I really hate Tab, one of the first "diet" sodas. It always had that really burning, acidic aftertaste.

They need to bring back Planter's cheese balls in the cylindrical container. I'd go to Phar Mor, rent some movies and purchase either the cheese balls or a microwave popcorn or two. They were so good.

There was a restaurant called Rax. It was like Arby's but better. Don't know if it was national or local. Coke was better until '85 because it was made with real sugar.

I'd never heard of these, I don't think they made it over the pond like a lot of American food, I have to pay over the odds to satisfy my Twinkie fix.

Twinkies are cool but they aren't what they used to be. How about The Suzy-Q. So good.

I remember Banana Flips! My Husband liked them too. I will keep an eye out. I don’t go to Walmart often, but I do remember them selling Nickels baked good.

I can still sing the advert now.

They don’t look exactly like those (Just a Pinch is a great website btw). They are circular and folded in half (flipped over). I will try to find a picture.
